This is a cover page for my Family tree book. I am going through and replacing pages little by little. The last name was spelled "Schweringe" on a Ship manefest that was handwritten by Garret himself in Dutch. When he was naturalized he spelled the name "VanSweringen". His son Thomas dropped the "Van" and added an "a" to the spelling. He then gave the name "Van" to one of his sons as a first name. I am descended from all three of these men. The name "Van" was used by many ancestors and has confused many descendants doing research. Other Ancestors added the Van back into the last name. My Great Grandfather changed the one "i" to an "e". I don't know whether it was intentional or not. So the name "Swearengen" is what I ended up with.
Other Lines of the family have other various spellings as well. Needless to say someone first starting out trying to research this family has a difficult time getting started. Luckily the family has been well researched, so once I found my first few ancesters the rest came easy. Wish I could say the same for my mothers side!
The floral paper is from Moonbeams (Deane Gow Smith's) Free Heritage Demo Kit.
I made the tree using a tree brush and a gold style. I don't recall where I got the brush, but it has "swwd" in the name.
