Head north over the Forth Road Bridge and turn left for Culross, pronounced Koorus, to find a pretty village restored to its historical origins in the 17th century.
Features are the stepped gables - corbie (crow) steps - the mercat (market) cross in the town square, the cobbled streets, forestairs (outside stairs)....
It is a very popular place with visitors but I wonder how the residents feel in the summer season when they must feel lke they live in a goldfish bowl!
The only extra embellishment is the mercat cross in the main photo, which I extracted from the photo, then superimposed on the original cross, adding a shadow.
