Having a problem with my program!

My embellishment area seems to be "stuck" for lack of a better word . I am NOT tech suave!
I will be using the program to make a layout or scrapbook and when I need to ad an embellishment from a file on my computer the program stops working.
Seems to just freeze up. Explorer comes up with the message "program not responding" .
I am just trying to open a file to extract an element. Any and all help would be appreciated and in as NON technical as possible terms please!

If I were to guess, the problem is likely due to the amount of files that are in the folder you are trying to select the embellishment from. For large amounts of files, it can sometimes take a little while for them to all be scanned and the thumbnails generated.

I do have a couple questions though. When you have this problem, are you selecting embellishments from the area within Scrapbook MAX! (Right on the Select Embellishment dialog), or somewhere else on your computer (clicking the "Browse" button on the Select Embellishment dialog)? If you are selecting images from another location on your system, you could try splitting up your images into smaller folders so that a smaller amount of files need to be scanned.

Another thing you could try is changing a setting in the preferences. Choose Edit > Preferences, select the "Performance" link, and then look at the area labeled "Thumbnail Provider". You will see two radio buttons there. Look at whichever one is currently selected and then try the other one to see if it performs better.

Give those suggestions a try and let us know how it turns out.
