I think you have the time to try to create at least one template. Donna gave excellant instructions on the video. Give it a try. Maybe you could put one of the ones already created in a layout.
The simple instructions are to bring everything in as a embellishment including the paper. Then PUBLISH it using the highest quality size. Next create a new page and select a colored paper and bring your saved template in as a shape. Done!
OB..I've been working on your BLINKIE ALL DAY!! Hope you like!!
Question you had...Overlay and MASKs..what is the difference???
Answer: NONE..except CONCEPT..They are all general use of shapes..Masked template refers to dominant use of SHAPES to make the whole template..and EACH piece is CHANGEABLE..
Overlay is simply a ONE piece design created to place OVER your template to odorn it like a frame..typically not a stand alone template..
Omajo: LOVE your pattern and template!! You are such a fast learner!!!
Leafroberts:
Question about PICTURES as SHAPES!!
Answer: SBM is remarkable in this way..Test this out!! Take
a PHOTOgraph in jpg or png form and place it in your SHAPES folder.
Then go to your scrapbook max program and take a paper scrap and then custom shape using your PHOTO.. Doesn't have to be converted to grayscale to get it to work.. You will then see how PICTURES can be used almost like sketch form as background. COOL effects!! Try it you'll be amazed!!
Lily6570: There you go again..Tickling my funny bone!! LOVE the pattern and piece!!
Oceania: Ditto to what Grannywin said!! You can do it too!!
and WELCOME!!
Grannywin!! What a sweetie!! You go girl!!
HUGS ladies!! You are doing GREAT!!
went to 4shared to download the advanced tutorial, but said I needed a password?????........also am away from my own computer for a couple of weeks, so will not be able to make anymore shapes or templates to share as I don't have a program to do this really wanted to get involved!!!!!

Here's my attempt to make paper using the grids. Her tutorial with the heart kept making me think of how my Mom makes her quilts using grids. So I made a template of the Amish Star quilt block. I made the block 1x1 and I liked how it came out but then I made it again using the red block and tiled it into the background and I like both effects! I had to make my own 6 x 6 grid as there wasn't one in the kit Donna gave us. I've included it here, too.

In case I go missing call Moonlightpearl, Granny, twpclerk or Smile! Then have them call Crops because we're probably together at the Yoville Races!
Well done, everyone. Lily6570, I love that star paper.
Here is one of my favorite shapes, 4 templates, and a hexagon shape for pictures or paper to fill the spaces. This can go for any time of the year. You can add anything for corners to the one with grey paper. I used two shapes by d27 for corners on the third and fourth templates a examples.
Leaf
PS As you can tell I like pages with more than one picture. I take too many pictures to go one at a time.
Donna and Leafroberts mentioned using photos as shapes. Here's 2 I did. I took a tan paper, browsed to my photo of my granddaughter and used the photo as the shape. It made it look like a negative (i.e. with the colors reversed). Then I placed it over a black background and this is what I got. A nice Sepia tone reminiscent of the 300 movie. Then I took the lavender paper, changed the shape to a photo of a flower blowing in the wind and placed it over a yellowish background. Cool looking effect. I was using light paper when making the shapes. That might have been why I got the reverse or "negative" color effects. I had to go with darker backgrounds to get the picture to show up right. I've included the original photo of the flower also.
