Great stories. Reminds me of my mom's story. Her parents couldn't agree on a name. One wanted Bernice, the other wanted Lorene. So her Birth Certificate didn't have a first name for her to begin with. Her birth certificate also had her dad's middle name listed as her Mother's middle name, and it had the wrong birthdate (one day later). My mom went by Bernice the first few years. She didn't like it, and they finally let her go be Lorene. They finally were able to add the first name to her birth certificate, which still has the other information wrong. One year (after I was an adult) I was in a drug store with my mom and some one she new from her childhood came in. She called my mom Bernice. It threw my mom for a minute but then she said "yes, but I go by Lorene now". Hard to believe she still recognized my mom after all those years.

WOW Sue this is so funny! but was great someone recongnized her by her other name!
and its true that some people had a day later in the birth certificate, in the case of my parents in law, mom have in her certificate on day later because she was registered by her dad on day later because they cant go out for the snow

I'm still working on mine! I have the basic layout done but I still need a pic.......lol I guess I need to get the scanner up and going again.

I find it amazing at the names my students come in with. The hispanic culture has guidelines on taking last names. I get some kids in that have 3 or more last names, because they have Moms. Dads. and who ever else. That gets difficult when you have to figure out how to file their charts or emergency cards.......lol The winner is a boy at school. His parents didn't give him a first name at birth, so his legal name is "BOY" although he goes by Daniel. I do not understand why the parents never got around to re-naming him on his birth certificate!

My given name was Marion Margaretha Jose. Plus my last name.
In the Netherlands where I was born, most people have more then one middle name. All legal forms in the USA only have room for one. So when I moved to the USA, I had to give up one of my names and I now go by Marion M.

Ok. My Mom named my brother's after former partners and were "A", and "B" names. So My Father named me after girlfriends and following the pattern I was due for a "C" name so he came up with Crystal Dawn.

Then in my senior year my Spanish teacher Mr. Pehler translated that to Clara Aurora.

I looked it up in an on-line name dictionary at http://www.behindthename.com/
