Default Wow... where have I been? A shameless commercial!

Also known as the 8 x8 page sales pitch!!!

I did the most amazing thing... I actually printed a page from one of my baby templates. I was curious as to how the templates looked printed, and how the 8 x 8 pages turn out, since every thing I design is in that size.

Wowcumunga... I love that size. Not only are the stores coming out with gorgeous 8x8 albums, but the layouts look so cute. I was really concern that I was loosing out on sales, because most templates every where are 12 x 12. But I just read another thread here, where some of you girls mentioned changing over to 8x8, so I guess I'll stick to my old ways.

Also, is there anyone in the forum that has a hard time using textured tiles for their backgrounds? Unless absolutely necessary, I stay away from including full background pages, because they make the file size so humungus. But since SBM has that wonderful import feature where you can tile the background, seamless tiles are a great alternative to full pages. And... I can use the extra bites for embellishments.

Well, sorry, I'm rambling. Just wanted to use you as a sounding board, and I would love to hear your comments on the album size and the background tiles.

    Thank you for reading this...

    Default Books for Grandkids

I like the 8x8 size photobooks because they are roughly the size of a GoldenBook. I make them for my grandkids after a visit or a special occasion. I make the "journaling" simple so they can read the words. I'm a fan of that size and would buy the templates!

Hey Granny glad you printed one out... I love the size!!! I know some people are scared of the size thinking its too small and you wont be able to see everything.. I tell ya, you see everything nicely.... and the books they came out with OMG I got a book last year it fits over 150 layouts...maybe more... I bought another one, the first six months in one and the other six months in the other one... 2 books...for one year.... I LOVE IT!!!! I wish I would of bought more... I cant find them anywhere now.
I really cant comment on the tile thingy... I dont know to much about that....

i love 8x8...less ink...more 8x8 albums out in uk than 12x12 AND i can use a standard printer and dont have to pay over £400 ($800) for a large format printer

the 8x8 pages print out beautifully - so long as you dont over clutter the page with embies they are perfect

as for backgrounds tiles......smb is brilliant for these just bring in and stretch

I just found 8x8 frames in my local dollar store that were rather nice . They came in either white or black which I thought was awesome ! I printed out some 8x8 photos and slid them in perfectly. I was very impressed

SBM is great for background tiles, just drag it to your page to SBM and there are choices to make whether you want it as background on its own or as tiled background (seamless background)........, so,.. you know the answer...!!

Oooooooooooh, Granny, 8x8 is the ONLY size I print out for myself and what I have been doing all along since starting with SBM. I buy the cool little plain 8x8 albums when they are on sale at Walmart for $1 or $2 dollars, some extra filler pages (also on sale), and the photo paper (when it's on sale, too, of course), and away I go! I decorate the outside of the albums myself -- I've used stuff from my sewing/quilting, my "real" scrapbooking, etc., etc. And the pages I print out I have even added a "real" embellishment here and there. I have never gone for the bigger sizes and don't plan on it as I don't have that much shelf or storage room. I've made a few 4x6 bragbook albums for my family, but for myself I prefer the 8x8 size! And I print at 200dpi, that's the "Normal" setting on my printer (looked EXACTLY the same as 300dpi), and it looks exactly like it was professionally done.

So sorry we didn't let you in on this earlier. ROTFL!! Live an' learn, huh!

I love the 8x8 and the 12x12. I do both! It's cheaper to print the 8x8 too. They look great! You really don't lose anything. As far as the tiling, I don't do much with tiling so I can't comment on that.

Also, I do some 6x6 for friends and family. They have some really cute 6x6 albums out there too. With the 6x6 I will often times include a photoshow disc with the same pages on it that are in the album and music, sometimes I will even narrate on a page or two. Just adds a little personal touch to the book.
