I'm so sorry for their loss. I recall as a child sitting on my neighbors front steps when the military jeep pulled in (vietnam war) to let them know their son died, I truly will never forget the screaming from that house. Prayers to all.

            Update

We did find out that Jimmy was killed by an IED (I think that's what they are called) He and a group of 2 other boys were on their way to another mission, we don't know if they were on foot or in a vehicle or much of anything else yet. His brother isn't home yet, he's still waiting for the emergency leave paper work to go through or be signed or something. at least he's based in NC for the moment and will be flown into Ft. Drum. We can all be there at the base when they bring his body home. There are still reports that have to be filed and investigations yet to be complete before Danny and Judy can even start the arrangements. I told them of all your prayers and they thank you very much..it means alot.

WIZ,I am deeply saddened at Judy & Danny's loss,it all seems so senseless Jimmy had to leave them that way,no words can express what they as a family must be going through, but please know we do care, for them & also for you to have witnessed such heartache.
Thank you for the updates & I hope they can bring Jimmy home to his family as soon as possible.
              hugs
              Karyn.

                Wiz...

Are the having Jimmies brother escort his body home? I know that is done often.

Our prayers remain with this family!

Well, NO..Michael flew home last night..with a tech Sgt. the reason for this...The Marines consider Michael a flight risk of sorts...I can't really say anymore than that right now sorry.

I don't know if I understand this or not but...WHEN what they have of Jimmy's body arrives in Ft. Drum (Now it may not be till Saturday) Dan & Judy will make the arrangements...this part of him WILL be buried after the funeral. When the rest of him comes in..the family will have that (Oh God) cremated. I don't mean to make anyone ill by telling this...I know they are grieving but I would want my son all together in one place.

The reports keep coming in. NOW they told us that he was the gunner ON TOP of the vehicle when the IED went off, he was given the choice of driving or gunning...we all said at the same time that that's what Michael would have chosen..he was so like that... had to be IN the action.
I have some pics and newspaper clippings I am making some layouts I will get posted...maybe today.
Oh and I had Jimmy & Michaels ages mixed up...Jimmy was 20..Michael is 19.

For all it is worth, please let the family know how much we all care! I know it is not much, but I hope they will find some comfort in knowing how many of us out here really care!

I am honored that you would use my template. What a handsome young man. What a shame to leave life this young! But at the same time, I would like to think that he was doing what he wanted to do and knew the risk. His life was not wasted! He was an American Soldier, he died a hero!
