Can A Technie Please Explain!

Well I had my son disconnect the new wireless, secured router and now my computer is running back up to speed! So who is so technical that they can explain this???? I am back on my old DELL router that is not secured and these pages are whipping real fast (((ZOOM)))

The new router slowed me way down! It would take several minutes to load a new page and most of the time it would freeze up!!!! I had not been able to download anythng for nearly 2 weeks!

And soooooooo...uh, because things are going faster but nothing is secure, that's why you are worried?

If that's what you're trying to say, then the answer is simple...security will slow down your speed on anything most of the time. BUT! Your other router may have had a problem...we recently had to change our router because of some problems it was having (unfixable problems at that!) and had only had it for 2 months!

But... And this is really a wild guess. Anything that has to do with security has to be encrypted, and that means that the puter has to use more resources to read the code, thus slowing down. That and the fact that computers are really a secret weapon put out by the Talaban years ago in spectation of all of us scrappies, then the answer is obvious... It's a Communist plot, like Manatee recently suggested.
