    Smile Introducing myself

    Hi everybody!!!

My name is May, and I have been scrapbooking for 16 years! I can't believe it's been that long, but I have recently decided to try digital scrapbooking. Due to traditional scrapbooking costs, I think this is going to be a cost effective way to continue doing what I love. I have been married to a wonderful man for 19 years, he understands my obsession with scrapbooking. We have 3 children. 10 yr old twin boys and a 16 going on 21 year old daughter. I have made each child their own scrapbook for when they move out, and then a family one. I am hoping to get the hang of the digital scrapbooking and create some amazing pages. My goal is to start putting scrapbooks onto DVD for television viewing. I just purchased the Scrapbook Max, and am eager to get started! Would love any help or advice as I make my journey!

Welcome--you have come to the right place. Most of us here at SBM are addicted to digital scrapbooking. Things like laundry, cleaning, cooking etc etc have gone by the wayside.

Be sure to read through the posts. (There are a ton), but you will find a wealth of information in them. If you get really stuck on anything, post a question and someone will help.

Be sure to check out the Challenges and Contests. They are always fun, and you get a huge kit with the color challenge if you take the time to download it all.

This is a great place. We hope you like it here.

Yes, I know it's addictive, and so does my hubby...I think he's scared! hahahaha! I have checked out the sharing stuff and downloaded some stuff. How do I use it then with SBM? Do I need another program to create stuff on my own?

If you saved the stuff you need to click on it again and it should load in SBM. If you click open instead of save, it should load automatically into SBM unless it is a .zip file. Those files you have to unzip and move into Scrapbook Max. There are instructions somewhere. I will look and post you a link.

As for making your own, you do need another program. Some use photoshop elements, some plane photoshop, some use I think it's called GIMP and it is free. If you search this forum you will find some of the discussion on these.

Thank you so much! I did unzip, and created folders in my SBM. I hope that was right. Will check into the GIMP. Would love to create!

Be careful loading a bunch into SBM. It slows it way down, then you will get tired of waiting. Most of us drag and drop. I have created a folder on my desktop called scrapping. I put anything I download into this folder (with many sub-folders inside). When I scrap, I open SBM and put it on 2/3'rds of my screen. I open my scrapping folder on the other third. Then you just drag what you want (paper, embie, etc.) from the scrapping folder onto SBM. It will come up with a little screen asking you what it is, paper, background, embie etc. You choose what it is and it puts it on the layout. Way quicker than the buttons on the top. Give it a try. See how you like it.

Love the picture of your doggie!

Thanks a bunch for the info. I already created the folder and put my sub folders in it. The pic is of Rudy. She is our almost 7 month old Boxer pup. We are HUGE Notre Dame fans. I went to the GIMP site, and briefly checked it out. Had to take my daughter Amanda to the dr. I do what I can between everything else around here. <sigh>
