    Default Project Suggestion

A suggestion for the power users that have a lot of projects or templates...

Try creating an additional folder for your projects or templates under the Scrapbook MAX! folder and move your projects that you're not working on there... That will speed things up a little when creating a new project...

    See attached...

Just save your own blank template file. Make the page the size you use most, and save as a template.

Just to let everyone know, we're looking at what we can do.

One thing I was wondering though is if any virus/firewall software is affecting certain areas to some extent. The reason I ask is because some of the time quotes that have been mentioned for some things are quite a bit longer than I can replicate, even though some of your systems are just as good or much better than some of the systems I've tested on.

So if anyone has some time and does run virus or firewall software, could you try disabling them and then running Scrapbook MAX! to see if there is any difference in the time it takes for things?

Some areas are certainly based on the amount of content etc, but others shouldn't.

    Thanks everyone for your feedback.

I'll ask my son to try! I daren't. after 'updating' the non update I lost SM completely. It turned white and said a few error thingy's and refused to talk to me. Couldn't find my disk....(panic!).. then found it. It refused to let me uninstall, and said it couldn't. That was it.....did an install over the top and kept everything crossed. It came back. What a scarey time. The thought of having to wait for another copy was too much to bear. I am exhausted from fear lol

Last night I burned all scrapboox max stuff to a DVD. Then the stuff I don't use anymore was put into the trash can. I put all the pages, pictures everything that I deal with in seperate folders and just burned them, Yes it took 1 1/2hours
But Know It's back to being fast again. oh only until I start uploading things again. I'm sure.

    Default Disabled Antivirus

I disabled my anti viral program, Kapersky, and Scrapbook Max was still slow to open. Clicking on Embellishments opened quite quickly having only 10 items. I couldn't test properly as I had moved the majority of them to a different folder. I have a Pentium 4, 2.5 gigahertz (overclocked a bit) with one gig of dual channel ram. My video card, ATI, has 256 megs of ram and is already two years old. Generally things run quite well however, I am dual booting to Vista. Oh, does anyone know if Scrapbook Max works on Vista? I haven't tried it because I was wondering if Scrapbook Max installed a separate program, that disables it when recopied?

    Darryl:

I am using AVG free anti-virus and Zone Alarm free firewall. I couldn't find a place to disable the anti-virus, but I did compare the speed with disabling the firewall.

    With firewall running:
Time from clicking on SBM icon to welcome screen: 13 seconds
Time to open a 1 page scrapbook: 50 seconds

    Without firewall running:
Time from clicking on SBM icon to welcome screen: 5 seconds
Time to open a the same 1 page scrapbook: 45-50 seconds

I have a Core 2 Duo processor running at 2.13 GHz, 2 GB Ram, and a Radeon X1300 Pro 256MB video card. The computer is new and I check it religiously for viruses and spyware.

    Hi there,

My SBM too is slow. I was editing my 12 x 12 LO and I only have 3 pages. It was very slow in opening up the file. I thought it gonna crash my new pc then I increase the cache under preference. It helps for awhile and then it returned to being slow again.

I like using SBM compared to my other scrapbook program, and I hope the future SBM update includes faster uploading and opening of files.

Vista is quite nice. There are many security features, so you get a lot of "are you sure" questions. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it isn't a big learning curve from XP. I just ordered a new PC (my Xmas present) and it comes with a free upgrade coupon for Vista!
