Opening Booster Pack in IE

I am trying to open a free Booster pack located at www.scrapbookingtolearn.com and the problem is that in IE the program trys to open the files as a zip file (screenshot) and will not download. Is anyone having this same problem? What settings do I need in IE. This does not happen in FireFox.

If you download it and save it your hard drive, you can change the file extension from ".zip" to ".smb", then double-click to install it.

We're all still trying tot figure out why it does that...

Frist download the free trail of scrapbookmax,then you can download the files
This is a good program,I bought the disc.

Hey Steve -- have your host add the following mime type:
application/scrapbookmax

With the extensions:
smt
smb

That *may* take care of the problem.

When the file is SMB IE still tried to make it a zip. Looking for a fix so I don't have to teach my customers how to install Firefox just to get files.

Hello,

For anyone experiencing this issue on other sites, do you esperience it off of Scrapbook MAX!? If not, please see my post above -- we've specified the mime type on our server.

If you do still experience problems off of scrapbookmax.com, please post back here with details (or email the link to support[at]scrapbookmax[dot]com) so we can investigate and figure out a fix!

The reason why IE converts the filename to zip and FF does not is because the file *is* technically a zip file, just with a different extension. Internet Explorer must detect the file type in the file headers, and name it accordingly, where as FF respects the server-specified file-name. But an MIME declaration on the server side *should* take care of that.

Interesting observation about IE and this problem... As I had to reformat my C drive a couple of days ago and reinstall IE from scratch, files now download correctly... Mat be a mime type for IE... I'll keep looking...

Definitely. I have a limited understanding about MIME types, but that seems to be the issue.

Or at least the only cause of the issue that i've come up with so far ...

You can either specify your MIME types within the web server itself, or in your .htaccess files (if your host won't modify the server for you).

I love it when a plan comes together... My hosting company has a utility just does just that... let you specify MIME types... Well see how that works...

Well, I just tested this problem in IE, Netscape and FireFox with the Desmond's MIME type fix and it seems it be working correctly... You can open it with the SBM importer or save it to hard disk...
