Community atmosphere and an interaction with designers!! Number 1 i think.
One site and a few girls here will know which one, has the owner being involved in the community, big plus, in fact I am sure a few I have seen has them involved.
They have blogs, giveaways, people LOVE things for free
Megakits where designers are involved with contributing.
Designers come into the forum and have sneal peaks at a new kit that is being released soon, offers to post a comment in the thread and a random person will win.
These kinds of things make people come back, and back, and back.

this site had a good community spirit, well has really with the few that are here.

Oh another at the moment with their celebrations has a post the most thread....winner wins a 25.00 voucher to the store.

Another thing, the store is very poorly designed....you can't even see good views of the kits. Designers need their CT emmbers pages advertised with the kit. That makes me buy, if I see a beautiful LO I am tempted to get the kit.

You know I have only ever bought ummm 2 kits here, and believe me I have a kazillion kits in my possesion....admittedly I have had a lot for free due to various reasons. but I have bought a lot too and mainly in just a couple of stores.

Designers are like mini famous people....people love interacting with their favourite designers, it's like meeting a celebrity!!

I know half our community is probably asleep, but anyone else please feel free to comment in this discussion!!

But scrapbook max STILL in my opinion has the BEST software for scraping in and I will ALWAYS use it for the bulk of my scrapping....except when i use a template and then I use Photoshop....but I still struggle using them as well as making up my own thing

Please Karin... we'd love to hear from you about what Admin thinks.
Kayes last few comments are absolutely spot on.
I agree SBMax is the best software.. I have always said Max will be King!
But like Kaye or even worse .. I have NEVER bought a kit from here ...in 7 YEARS of working here..NEVER!!!
because I agree with Kaye here too Quote " Another thing, the store is very poorly designed....you can't even see good views of the kits. Designers need their CT members pages advertised with the kit. That makes me buy, if I see a beautiful LO I am tempted to get the kit." IF ONLY we could have more than 5 images.. and had an array of CT display / sample pages and BIGGER.. I can never see the detail enough in a 400x400 image to make me decide whether to buy it or not.displayed in the store

I also think this site falls very short with the gallery view... you can only see a very very limited number of new kits as they are posted then they disappear... I love scrolling endlessly through the gallery on other scrapbook sites.... row after row page after page to your hearts delight... all we see here is a tiny tiny portion and sometimes even in the store with new releases all you get to see is newly approved stuff and if a designer has 15 different things all the same name and theme it appears very boring that that is all you see... the other new stuff disappears into oblivion...
A re-design if the gallery and viewing things in the store would greatly increase sales.
at the moment a potential customer has to select the designer they want to look at and go thru individual designers products... a better bigger gallery would be wonderful
Maybe this is why not a lot of people bother posting in the gallery as they do on other sites - simply because after a couple of days it's gone you cant find it.
I think your other ideas Kaye are full of merit too. these things take a lot of time and here again maybe admin would reap the benefits of extra staff to do this side of promotions

Yes spot on Deanne, i would love to see other forum users comments here too, and those who are lurkers, to make this a better site the members need to tell admin why we want it a better, more user friendly site, then we too here can be as involved as many other stores.

it has the potential to be one of the best as it has the software.

There is a theme actually another place I know of that has pretty good software, and I know because I have it, and the forum is worse than here... hmmmmm

I agree with all that has been said:
Customers need to see a better view of kits In the store
Every designer that puts kit in store must be involved in challenges (great way to show off new kits too)
Admin should be involved to get Lurkers and Regulars involved
More involvement from designers and CTs will increase traffic to site increasing sales?

    My opinion about challenges
I buy kits too, I have tons .... But in the last year I have been going to other scrap site because of challenges. Challenges help me to scrap more of my pictures because their is a reason besides I want too!! It helps keep me going sometimes because my creativity might be lacking

I think a 10% off store purchase for completing a certain number of challenges is pretty cool and hey I am going to save money while I spend money no matter what economy is doing. My hobby is important to me!!

Designers could make a mini kit that matches their big kit as a give away for challenges which let's people get a feel for the big kit in store (this makes me want the rest of it)

We have a strong base at this site with a few of the designers and their CTs - Deanne, Sandrine, Carena - Kaye, Marion, Letha, Donna, Me, and don't forget Fonzzy Sue!! (Hope I didn't forget someone)

I have been here since March of 2007 and I have seen a big shift of the regulars and we have all shared the ups and downs of our lives here. We are like a family and that is why when I get home I come to SBM first to check on my peeps (sometimes with disappointment cause no threads to view) then I go to other sites!!

Why lose what we have here? Why not make this site the best site again?

A quick note to say hi and that I am reading this thread. Thanks for all of your great comments about Scrapbook MAX! software and for spreading the word. Thank you for the suggestions about the site - there are some great ideas here.

Hey there everyone, I am finally getting a chance to comment
I totally agree with what has been said. I am not going to say much because it will only be rewording what has already been said.
I think that the forum really started going down after the Newsletter was taken away. I looked forward to opening up my email and getting the newsletter once a month. It really made me feel proud the couple of times my layout was chosen to be featured. I remember the first time I realized it I went screaming through the house. my family thought I was crazy!
Maybe we could have a feature designer or a random scrapbooker of the month.
Maybe we could have a contest (especially for newbies) where we all vote on our favorite page of the week and the winner will get a discount off in the store.
Kimmy was right about the challenges. It helps me when I think I have a creative "blah" but I have thousands of pictures waiting to be scrapped. They sometimes get my photographic juices flowing too.

SBM is the ONLY scrapbook software for me! I love using it for all of my graphic needs and I do quite a few things!

Agree with all of this. I have been a member almost from the beginning in 2006. That is more then 8 years now. This used to be such a fun place to be! Couldn't wait to get home from work to see what was posted. Laughed out loud at a lot of the comments. We were a real family here. Collected money when one of our members got sick or passed away etc. Not sure what happened, but it is sad to come here to look for new post and sometimes for an entire day or more, there are no new post to read. I agree with the store being hard to shop at. The pictures are too small to get a decent few, the search area leaves a lot to be desired, and sales are few and far in between. I like the challenges that provide a minikit like Carena just did and it did inspire me to buy the rest of her kit at a discount. (Something for other designers to think about) Oh well, I just hope it gets better again. I will keep coming back here because like several of you said, it is still the best scrapbook program out there.
