White outline on images from the web?

Ok, here is my question....if I need for instance a snowflake and go to Yahoo Images and find one and save it, it ias a white outline or edge to the pic. Is there a way to remove that? I do not have Photoshop and I wonder if there is another way to do this? Thanks in advance!

Look for transparent PNG images. They're the best way to ensure that there is no "edge" or border to the images. All digital scrapbooking kits come with transparent PNG images for any non-rectangular shaped objects. Check out the Embellishments forum here, and our listing of Top Scrapbooking Sites to get more digital embellishments and kits.
Scrapbook MAX! 2.0 is here!. It's simply better digital scrapbooking software!
