    Default Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I'm about to shot my internet connection, or the puter, or both!!!

Every time I get online, the browser freezes, and it takes quite a few seconds before I can navigate the page or even to another site. I have checked my security settings, but they seem to be the same as before. I'm still running xp, won't trust anything else. This is the first time this has happened to me.

    Thanks for the help.

Have you cleared out your temporary internet files?

How long since you did a defrag of your hard drive?

Did you look in the task manager to see if something is stuck open you can't see? Adobe likes to do this a lot.

    like Karen says

clear the internet cache, clear your cookies (them crumbs really slow the system down) i usually run disk clean up to do all of this (start > programs > accessories > system tools > disk cleanup)

run a defrag and it should start working much smoother

also to be on the safe side run a spyware checker such as spybot SD to make sure you have no spyware on your system - this really slows xp down!

if all else fails *scream loudly*

Ok, done all of that. It's not the computer, it's the internet that hangs up! I think I will kick the dogs and scream loudly!

Any more profound ideas out there?

Hey, Granny -I know how you feel..But don't kick the dog. The dog didn't do it. This below recipe may make you feel better: and if there are any cookies left over take them to your friends in ScrapVille...enjoy!!!

    Jack Daniel's Whiskey Christmas cookies!

    1 cup of water
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 cup of sugar
    1 tsp salt
    1 cup or brown sugar
    4 large eggs
    1 cup nuts
    2 cups of dried fruit
    1 bottle Jack Daniel's Whiskey.

Sample the Jack to check quality. Take a large bowl,
Check the Jack again, to be sure it is of the highest quality,
Pour one level cup and drink.

Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter
    In a large fluffy bowl.

Add one peastoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point
it's best to make sure the whiskey is still ok, try another
    Cup just in case.

    Turn off the mixerer thingy.

Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup
    Of dried fruit.

Pick the frigging fruit off the floor..

    Mix on the turner.

If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaters just pry
    It loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the Jack to check for tonsisticity.

Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Who geeves
A sheet. Check the Jack Daniel's. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.

    Add one table.

Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can
    Find.

    Greash the oven.

Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall
    Over.

Don't forget to beat off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the
    Dack Janiel'
s and make sure to put the stove in the wishdasher.

do a broadband speed check (just google broadband speed check) and check that your internet provider is actually sending you the speed your paying for.....we had to scream and shout at our provider as we were only getting 512kb when we were paying for 50mgs!!!....we now have what we pay for (after threatening to go with another provider lol)

Oh, my word, that's the best cookie receipe I ever read. Thank you so much. Ah..... Can I just go straight for the bottle and forget the rest of the steps?

Will check the speed, thanks, Fiona. Great idea.

Actually, I found out what was wrong. I tried to download a blinkie, and got stuck instead with their stupid search engine. Deleted it, and now every thing is back to normal, whatever that is.

Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions, specially the Jack Daniel!!!
