Help with photo extraction

Hi there
I dont have photoshop but have been using paint.net to extract a photo. It has all worked well until I have gone and saved it and then put into scrapbook max. The part I have erased has become white so when I put it in scrapbook max the image is has white around it. Any suggestions as to how I get rid of the white part?

After you remove the background in your paint program, export it or save it as a transparent png. That will keep the white out and give you a transparent background. If you're program does not save images as transparent pngs, post the image here and one of us will be happy to do it for you.

My first extraction took me 13 hours straight but now it only takes me seconds.I saved it and white background showed.i saved it as jpeg but now you need to save them as a png.
