Cool The Groove's August 2008 Freebie Challenge

Welcome to The Groove's Monthly Freebie Challenge!

Hello from The Groove, Scrapbook MAX!'s *free* monthly newsletter.

Each month, a featured designer will offer a great freebie mini-kit and issue a challenge based on that kit.

All you need to do is download the freebie, create a layout that steps up to the challenge, upload it to your gallery, and post a link to your layout in a reply to this thread!

There's MORE! Everyone gets the freebie, and a lucky, random participant will also receive an official Scrapbook MAX! mousepad. WOO-HOO!

Details about this month's freebie and challenge are below!

    The “Freebie” Part!

Michelle McCoy has generously supplied a freebie mini-kit to all our Groove readers.

Here's how Michelle describes her kit:

I started putting this kit together to make layouts of my nephew...One thing led to the next, and I ended up with this cute theme instead. The colorful papers and spunky elements work great together for any child's page.

    The “Challenge” Part!

Michelle has issued this challenge based on her freebie mini-kit:

Since the Groove's Theme this month is Crafts and Hobbies, use my free mini kit to whip together a layout of your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc...doing some type of craft or hobby. You must use pieces from my freebie.

    Fun Freebie Rules:

1 - You can only use the mini kit (attached below) and add one embellishment or paper of your own (Changing the colors is ok).

Groove-y Tip: To find all of the pieces of Michelle's kit, remember to look under Embellishments, Papers, and Backgrounds!

2 - You can only use one photo.

3 - You can add journaling.

4 - You have to make your layout(s) using my template (also attached below)...Adding things to it is ok...(Look at the Template Before and Template After (Sample) screenshots below for inspiration)

5 - Most important, have fun!!!! I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with...((HUGS))

Be sure to check out the August 2008 issue of The Groove! You'll find more freebies, inspiration, and even an awesome discount on featured kits in the Scrapbook MAX! Booster Pack Store!

    Happy Scrapping!

The challenge for me was learning to make the items in the template colorful! I learned a lot. Here is my lo (I only added the brad from Plum Pudding). What fun!

MiniScrapper, you did great! Here is my first for this challenge; added my handmade butterflies as additional embellishment.
