    Default PNG's as templates (?)

    I thought I read here once that PNG graphics could be used as a template. I haven't had any luck with this. When I try, it initially looks like the shape I just made but if you click on it and try to move or resize it the whole paper scrap appears. Am I doing something wrong, or do PNG's not work as templates. I appreciate any help with this. {{{HUGS}}}

    Quick pages and templates are really 2 different things.

    Don't know about anyone else, however, I call these Quick Pages as they can only be used to add photos to the specific areas that are open due to being transparent.

    Templates for SBM would be of the .smt format and Photoshop would be .psd format. Those types would have the layers and all the papers and elements would be separate.

    Does that help?

    Hi
    Donna did a hole month challenge on PNG's being used for templates. March Challenge. Which will hopefully explain all.

    Here is the link:

    Also see templates - I've added some shapes there recently that will load into Max program as a shape ready to use.

    Good luck with the shape tutorials.
    Kind regards

    Carena, I installed your shapes. However, I'm still having the same problem of the whole paper scrap showing up if I try to resize an object. Am I doing something wrong (prolly *LOL*). I did download the tutorials and read through them quickly. I will read them again. I appreciate everyone's efforts in helping me with this. If I can master this I will be so jazzed. {{{hugs}}}

    Default Just to let you know...

    ...I've mastered the first tutorial on making shape templates. Well, mastered may be too strong of a word*lol*. But it seems to be working for me. I am still having a problem with Carena's shapes showing a ghost if moved or resized. Trying to figure out what's up with that.

    I should call it a day. I'm getting myself confused now Seriously, though, I think SBM is fantastic. Thank you everyone for helping learn new ways to get even more fun out of it.

    PS: I still don't understand the definition of a 'flattened jpg'. I don't understand the flattened part. Can anyone tell me a bit more about this. Thanks {{{hugs}}}

    Flattened is more Adobe Photoshop term: meaning as one piece of paper, not layered on top of one another. You probably don't need to concern yourself with this one.

    Custom Shapes:

    1. Open a paper
    2. in the pop up before completely bringing onto you page click in area says Option: Custom shape - click : select shape
    3. select the shape you require.
    4. add shadow if you wish and there you have it onto your page in the the paper and shape you choose.

    Hope this helps to explain things. I've messaged you but thought this may also be helpful to other members following this thread.

    Hi - me again

    Just been into my Max program to work out what Ajila is experencing. I see now what your talking about. Not sure what problem as it does it with me also when I change and the size especially if pulling the shape out on only one side and not all the way around.

    I've found quickly that if you double click the image and bring the properties box back up - then click OK - that square paper ghost has then dissappeared.

    Try that - it should work for you.

    Actually, the flattened part is redundant. A jpg is one layer. I think it should be flattened into a jpg. If you are using a layering (maintains separate layers) or an objecting (maintains things as separate objects) program and you save in that program's native format, you can go back and manipulate the image. Once you save as jpg or png, it becomes flattened into one layer (merged). With .png files, you can specify transparency, but jpg you can not. So in a word a jpg and a flattened jpg are the same thing.

    I did experience the ghosting you were talking about but when you double-click the mask get reapplied and disappears as Carena was saying.

    I experience this only if it's a .png shape. Noticed also that if I print the layout, it shows. If I change the shape to a .jpg with a true black and white, never get the crazy boxes. Probably just one of those silly little quirks. Will try below.
