So...you bring the paper in as a paper scrap, then choose the edge as a shape...the only thing I can think of is the size of the paper. After you make the paper into the edge into your page, click...

I chose blue and yellow so, realistic flower and add lace to a corner
Credits in the gallery (the flower is from my garden a couple years ago)

Also look at the "Invert shape" check box...try checking and unchecking the box and see if you get what you want.
