Welcome to The Groove's Monthly Freebie Challenge!

Each month, a featured designer will offer a great freebie mini-kit and issue a challenge based on that kit.

All you need to do is download the freebie, create a layout that steps up to the challenge, upload it to your gallery, and post a link to your layout in a reply to this thread!

There's MORE! Everyone gets the freebie, and at the end of the month, three lucky, random participants will also receive an official Scrapbook MAX! mousepad. WOO-HOO!

The "Freebie" Part

Fiona Storey (http://www.scrapbookmax.com/store/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=37) has generously supplied a freebie mini-kit to all our Groove readers based on her full kit called "Cranberry Rose" - "...an elegant kit with lots of interesting shapes and frames, plenty of journal boxes that can double up as photo mats, this kit can be used for any occasion. the name does not quite reflect the colour but more the cranberry colour used in spode chinaware."

“Create a layout using the mini kit using only 1 photo and 1 Quote - see if you can use all the mini kit items - recolour a little if you wish.”

Here's my page. I used some of Fiona's flowers from the Color Challenge a few weeks ago and the envelope is from SBM Manilla Memories. I hope that was OK... to add to it.

I cannot download from these attatchments. I use DAP . It downloads :: attatchment 3 php
Broderbund Easy print type.

When I click open it comes up in my Creative Greetings Card maker and it says ; Unable to read file,file type not supported. It won't open in my ScrapbookMax.
This happens to all of these attatchment files. I don't know why they come up as php ??? Most of the other files I download with DAP comes to my Completed DL foldre as Stuffit Zip Files and I just unZip.
Any HELP on this ? I would like to be in the Challenge.

I wasn't sure either if we were supposed to only use the mini kit or if we could add stuff. Here's mine. This is my daughter and my dad at my brother's wedding eight years ago. I have always loved this photo. I took that rolled paper embie and did the "line slice" in the photo editing options and it made a cool background. The word art is from Bethany Harty and of course everything else is from the lovely Fiona. What would we do without her?

Fern it may be that DAP does not recognise SMB & SMT files, try saving them to a file on your harddrive then double click on them as they should automatically install into max.

My page is entitled Dear John. I used everything from the kit and added the ink well and pen embellishments found on the web. The quote is from Katherine Mansfield a New Zealand Writer 1888-1923. I had fun with this page! It brought out my creative thinking! :) Thank Fiona!

Here is my try at the Groove challenge. This is my sister Carol. It was taken when her kids were small (they were on the carolsel too!), her daughters are both in college now and the one will graduate soon with her bachelors degree.

Fiona, I changed the color of two papers and two ribbons, does that count??? LOL

Thanks so much for this challenge! I had so much fun arranging the pieces. I added a heart tag from the freebie big Bonus Kit by Moonbeam (thanks!) and the shape on my pic is from the prize from the March 08 challenge. Thanks so much!
Oh, and I also tweaked the colors. My daughter is a bit anti-pink :rolleyes: and prefers I don't use too much pink on her pages. LOL

Scrappyaggie! Another cool way to use that stamp! See, I'm just not creative minded. I really had no idea of a "new" way to use that stamp. And love the doubled lace top and bottom. Great idea! And you made the page curls look like a "hole" in the paper. So creative! Great page!!! But then, I always love your layouts.

Thanks so much Angel...I actually did it...with your help. I made this page from the freebie-mini-kit provided here by one of our wonderful, sharing members. This is my Mother...and "I Remember Momma!" is what I named my creation. Of course, this was a pix from a long time ago, and she's in Heaven now, so this is my tribute to her. Thanks for all you've done for me Momma...I used all the elements from the kit, plus I added a scrap paper for the Caption, and a butterfly from SBM. I hope these two additions are alright, I mean...don't break any rules of the contest. Thanks everyone for any help you've given me. God bless you always. Hugs, Joanne

Well the reason I don't do alot of layouts is because I always seem to mess things up. Sue and Carol were kind enough to help me place this in the Gallery, then in here. I don't have a very good memory and with this computer it is still hit and miss. I love all the things that Fiona and others give us because they make what ever I have look great. The little angel is my son who was 12 month old on the photo. This is my first try for the challenge and also layout.Sorry it is not perfect, I could not do the top of the page (where it is folded) as good as it was originaly. It is because of the change of color, it is difficult to see the line. Hope you like.

Wow, Fiona! Just look at all the "challenge first timers"! Even Smile had to get in on this one. So you know this has to be a great kit! I've got a couple ideas for some more if I can get to them. I LOVE this sampler soooo much I thought I'd join your fun by doing a blinkie for the CHALLENGE that you can use for your own!! I have a picture spot of Fiona and word corner and bottom left word corner as well..So if you want this blinkie in Fiona's GORGEOUS Kit..simply Email me and let me know what you want it to say!! Give me a picture to put in it. I LOVE the KIT!! and can also provide a link to her kit from it!!
