OK Scrappers - I'm just popping in here to say there's a REALLY good chance I will be late with this challenge. The info I have from Julie said I was hosting in MAY and I just got an e-mail reminder that I'm supposed to start TOMORROW, April 1. I am trying to check with her on that but haven't gotten an answer yet.

Since I have 6 kids and they are on Spring Break this week I cannot say for sure when I will be ready. We have lots of activities and field trips planned and that will be my first priority. After that, I will crank out something for y'all. THANKS for being paient with both Julie and me.

03-31-2008, 05:58 PM
No problem!

03-31-2008, 07:27 PM
Not to worry. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

03-31-2008, 11:05 PM
np at all ..... your priority is at home :) ... go be a mum 1st.

04-01-2008, 09:44 AM
Oh Yes! Please excuse my pregnant brain!!!

I have been getting May and April mixed up in my head for months now as I am "due" in May but "scheduled" for a C-Section in April!

Knowing the quality and creativity of Christine's work, I'm sure it will be worth the wait and in the mean time, there's the April Groove Challenge, too!!!

Thanks, all!!

OK Ladies, I have some REALLY awesome stuff for ya! I will be linking up a free layout template and giving out bonuses for participation...I am just waiting for the new, related product to be turned on in the store and then I will unveil it all. Please stay tuned and THANKS for waiting.

04-02-2008, 02:37 PM
OK Christine, we won't mind waiting!!

04-02-2008, 02:50 PM
yipee! My new products are now in the store and I'm ready to show ya what I've got lined up for you!

I hope this will be a fun challenge for you to get at least one page done really quickly! I have created three series of new designer templates that enable you to swap my the black/grey design elements for the papers and photos of your choice. I've put together some fun and trendy layouts with brackets, swirls, scalloped edges and more. You can see them here:

http://www.scrapbookmax.com/store/product_image.php?imageid=4515 (http://www.scrapbookmax.com/store/product.php?productid=1830&cat=0)

http://www.scrapbookmax.com/store/product_image.php?imageid=4519 (http://www.scrapbookmax.com/store/product.php?productid=1831&cat=0)

http://www.scrapbookmax.com/store/product_image.php?imageid=4524 (http://www.scrapbookmax.com/store/product.php?productid=1832&cat=0)

And now, here are the details of the challenge!

To participate, simply download the attached challenge template. You can use it to create a layout like this one:

Once you have completed your layout, please upload it to the Scrapbook Max! Layout Gallery (http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/index.php) and then put a link to your layout in this thread. If you do that, I will give you a free set of 2 more layout templates. You can see what they look like HERE (http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=22403&cat=500&ppuser=5889)

You will receive a link to your bonus templates via the PM system here on the site. I will be checking back here periodically to send those bonuses but please allow a day or two after you post for me to get to you. Please don't share the link with others - it is meant as a participation bonus only.

If you are new to using this type of template, you are in for a treat! After loading the template into Scrapbook Max!, simply double-click on any design element to change it to the paper of your your choice. On the challenge template, I've also included a flower that you can recolor if it doesn't go with your photos!

Of course, I hope you will like my templates enough to visit the store and purchase a pack or two (or all three!). I appreciate the chance to showcase this line of templates and also invite you to view my other products available in the store (http://www.scrapbookmax.com/store/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=59).

If you have any questions, please don't be afraid to ask!

NOW, go have FUN!

04-02-2008, 02:56 PM

From the first template download I only have one page. Is that correct?

04-03-2008, 06:18 PM
Here's my page with the second template. I used "Belle demoiselle" from Le Digi De Kafrounette. I just love the colors of this kit.

04-03-2008, 06:29 PM

Great layouts everyone :)....... oh .. Susie your doggy is so cute LOL ... Love it. :P

04-03-2008, 10:05 PM
Here is mine
I used a freebie kit I found named Sweet dreams by Kaetter

04-03-2008, 10:30 PM
The kit is Erika Tenney's Scrapper's Delight:

I was fascinated with the contrasting colors, and the dark tones in the picture. Since most of the picture is bright, I wanted to see what would happen when I emphasized the darkness. Neat effect, I think.

04-04-2008, 08:11 AM
I love this template. So simple yet so elegant. Thanks! Here's my entry for the challenge.

04-04-2008, 10:24 AM
Wow, these are all great!

04-04-2008, 10:26 AM
Here is my first try.

04-04-2008, 10:33 AM
Forgot to mention I used an edge shape by Sue Chastain. The paper is mine.

04-04-2008, 11:20 AM
Love that paper, Sue! By the way, is that a special font? I've tried to shadow fonts in SBM under Titles but the shadow is always a gray that doesn't go with most of my colors. Is there a way to change the gray shadow in fonts?

04-04-2008, 12:13 PM
I used the font from the template. Double clicked on it and replaced it with "Karen" I made a copy of the name then I tinted the top copy and placed it over the bottom copy to give it this look. Hope that explains it. You can make the bottom copy black or any other color you want to give it a shadow effect.

04-04-2008, 12:18 PM
Here is the paper if you want it. I gave it away a long time ago in different colors. You can colorize how ever you want. I did tint it in the layout.

04-04-2008, 02:17 PM

That's brilliant! You are so creative! Thanks for the tutorial.:D And thanks for the paper, too!

04-04-2008, 02:47 PM
OK, I am caught up to here on the bonuses. GREAT pages, everyone!

04-04-2008, 03:05 PM
Hi all, thanks for the design download :o) I had fun playing around with this one though I have to admit I didn't know how to change the colour of the flower. So in the end I came up with this it's completely different and I hope it's ok? Thanks and have a great day everyone :)

04-04-2008, 03:40 PM
This is how I create shadows for my titles. I type out the word or title or whatever with the caption button. Then I copy and paste it and change the color and arrange it to send to the back behind the original words. It works with any font in any color. Hope this helps.

04-04-2008, 05:02 PM
I love everyone's pages so far! They are all so great and it's really neat to see how one template turned into so many different styles! I have never used a template, so this was a treat. Needless to say, I will be using them again. Thanks for the fun challenge. My page is of my daughter at Thanksgiving. The credits are in the gallery, here
Thanks again,

04-04-2008, 06:58 PM
K, here's mine ...........
Thanks Christine for hosting it was fun ;)

04-05-2008, 05:35 AM
Here is mine, cannot help making two layouts with the same background, Love the template, there are so many possibilities. Thanks Christine!

04-05-2008, 05:37 AM
the other one,...

04-05-2008, 05:39 AM

04-05-2008, 09:24 AM
I loved this template and wanted to try a 2nd one. This is my sis-in-law. I used KimB's Storybook Romance kit.

04-05-2008, 10:55 AM
Melanie,very pretty colors, nice layout.

04-05-2008, 12:02 PM
I love all the layouts! So much talent to give me inspiration! Here's mine. Thanks to Donna's tutorials, I was able to create my own background paper! Thank you, Donna! The fish used in the background, the bobber, the fly, and the hat all came from NanaC and I found them in the forum freebies. I also found the fish button in the freebies but it didn't have a name in the title when I opened up my download, so I am not certain but I think it was from ladybuggy. Hope that's right. Thanks for this template! I will use it again, I'm sure.

04-05-2008, 04:23 PM
Ha ha! that's a great layout! Love the fish. Looks good enough to eat!

04-05-2008, 04:42 PM
Ha ha! that's a great layout! Love the fish. Looks good enough to eat!

Thank you. Looks can be deceiving, though. We live in Florida and he caught that in the pond that is out back and is fed by a canal one street over, plus the run off from everyone's yards. I wouldn't eat anything out of it. We have a strict catch-and-release policy.

04-05-2008, 05:07 PM
Personally, I have a catch-and-eat policy. But that's not true everywhere here either. It's tough throwing back those bass, let me tell you.

The river we fish in, you probably really don't want to eat the fish! Those get tossed back. But If you fish far enough out in Lake Erie, then you can eat the fish. Just love love love Lake Erie Perch! The river empties into the lake. I don't think too many people eat fish caught to close to the shore.

Love the layouts!

04-06-2008, 08:20 AM
Here is my 2nd and 3rd tries at the challenge with the bonus templates.

04-06-2008, 11:51 AM
Quick and easy one, a little recoloring and additional elements.

04-06-2008, 01:53 PM
These are all so good! Nice going, everyone!

04-06-2008, 02:10 PM
Here is my page. This was fun. We just took this picture yesterday. When the mothers had the kids lay down on the floor like this I thought it was perfect for this challenge.

04-06-2008, 03:48 PM

04-07-2008, 01:47 PM
Here we go. this is a picture of my daughters state officer team. They finish their term next week. The blue corduroy came from Mary. The tan paper that I punched the FFA emblem out of came from the Shabby Princess Harvest Spice kit. All other papers came in the SBM original software.

04-07-2008, 02:47 PM
I finished my contribution for this challenge too, but still have no idea how to share them... sorry to be a bother, but if anybody can help me out this newbie would greatly appreciate it... anyone?

Thanks Christine for the bonus templates. Super job on all of the layouts submitted.

Here's a layout using one of the bonuses and Michelles new spring kit.

04-11-2008, 02:21 AM
Here is the link to my page. At first I did not think that I would like the flower on a boy page, but I think it works here with my blouse and the colors in Ryans outfit. He is 4 months old here.

Circle and Swirls are from a paper by Muma August 2007 and the background paper is from a Heritage Album by knzus

04-11-2008, 03:22 AM
Thankyou Christine for the bonus templates, they're great, I am going to play around with them later,

04-11-2008, 04:18 AM
leafroberts, very nice page! Everything blends very well.

04-11-2008, 06:59 AM
Leaf, it's a BLUE flower! And it's not a frilly flower so it looks masculine! Works great!

04-12-2008, 09:08 AM
Everyone's lo's were so inspiring...here's mine.

I used the paper's that came with ScrapbookMax. The photo I took last year at Point Lobos - it helps to have a long lens.

Here are my attempts with the bonus templates. I'm a high school teacher and have started doing my lesson plans in SBM. I post them to my webpage and have had lots of favorable comments. I used shabby princess harvest spice and Amy Teets' sun porch. The font is Black Chancery from 101fonts.com

Thats beautiful Mint !!
Good idea Linda to put your lesson plan, will imitate you, to make announcement for my community group here, love it !!

I'm caught up again. Hubs was out of town so I was running the show here with the six girls and computer time got shoved down the list of priorities :)

I know this is late and there is another one I've completed to follow this but I'm experiencing bad computer issues... I haven't been on for a few days due to one of my girls needing hospitalization due to some icky virus she's better now but sadly now I have a horrible flu :o( Any ways I hope this is ok for the challenge :)

And here is the final part of the challenge I made some things smaller like the bow shape and placed it between the three bottom photos not sure if that was allowed. I had fun making these up and as you can all see I love Native American things :)

Everyone did a super job, you should all be proud of yourselves!! Thank you sharing your wonderful talents.
