it's that time again...as if wonderwoman and the groove haven't got you busy enough ...i'm back to set you yet another challenge :D
'when you were born'
the aim is to scrap the year you were born
so for example if you were born in 1964 (when all the angels of this world were born lol) you will need to put together a page about that year using big events, famous people, films, infact anything you think that year was about ~ be as creative as you can as not only is there a gift from our very own knzus - there will be a vote at the end of the week and the scrapbook voted the winner will get chance to choose 2 (yes two) kits from my store stock
Rules:
1) Scrap a page using the year you were born as the theme
2) use ONLY freebies from our forum, freebie templates can be used too
3) credit where possible
4) post page in gallery and link into this thread
5) all pages to be posted by Sunday 16th March

This should be really really interesting! Since most of us are different ages, we should all have unique layouts!

OK here's mine !! :D
This challenge was a blast !! Everything I used came from SBM site . The 50's embelishments (not sure who donated sorry). The newspaper scrap came from Angelwithin. The pearls also came from Angelwithin. Used a shape background for the photo called "roundy" that came from Desmond (I think). The journaling background also came from Angelwithin. Everything can be found in the forums available to download. P.S. My kids are gonna love this page LOL

During the year I was born, I was more concerned with finding the next bottle and getting my diaper changed on a regular basis. Anyone know of a good site for trivia?

credits: hope they are correct from memory..sorry if they are not
The grey and pink flower was from granny win, the newspaper background was from angelwithin
the ribbon and heart and staples were from the challenge on the forums the other week, the 10 things I love by granny scraps
umm think that's it lol
I chose the pink and grey flower as it reminded me of wallpaper I had as a kid :D

My page. The year was 1953
Used Fiona's freebie newspaper for background and the rest is just paperscraps

Here is my page for the year 1959. I used Fiona's newspaper background and some 1950's clip art from the forum embellishment section. Thank you to whomever put those embellishments in that section. (I'm not sure of the name.) My mother didn't have any newborn photos taken of me so this is the best I could find. :) I just noticed that the Game of Life was cut off of the original for the toy listing. And gas is 30 cents per gallon not $30 per gallon. :OI'll need to fix that!

This challenge was so fun...I bought a birthday chronicle to help me with this challenge and learned so much...The white box is hard to read so here is what it says...This came on the chronicle...
The president of the United States, Richard M. Nixon, that today be a day of national celebration, heralding the birth of Michelle McCoy on Wed. January 12. 1972. The White House sent a bouquet of carnations, the flower of the month of January, to her family.
You can get one yourself by going here (http://www.rwrinnovations.com/personalized_certificates.htm#birthday).

I dont find my page as interesting as everyone elses but I did enjoy doing the research and I LOVE looking at all of the other pages.
In my comments on the page I took a jab at my parents who were teenagers at the time, my intention is not to affend anyone but I think my mom will get a kick out of it-it is a family joke now that we are grown up.

Here is my try. I don't think it is that great. I ordered one like Michelle, but it hasn't come through yet. (Thanks for the tip Michelle)
I used Fiona's newspaper for the background and the shapes. I used shapes from Autistic Wonder, Julie, Blue Velvet and SBM. I used a frame from Knzus kit Soft Brown Shispers.
The telegram is from my dad to my grandmother letting her know that I was born.
For some reason the paper behind the little girl by my picuture lost it's shape after I brought it into SBM. It was a round shape that you couldn't see. I just used it for a background because she is transparent, but it is showing up as square. Oh Well!!!!

Here is my first feeble attempt. I'm an SBM virgin :) The newspaper came from Fiona, the poloroid frame I made myself in psp. I must confess I have not gathered many freebies yet, so I may have bent the rules a bit and used things that came in the original download of SBM. My cd has not arrived yet, that's how new I am at this. Critiques welcome!

I think my posting went into never-never-land. It can't be found so I'm trying it again. Here is my 1943 layout. Didn't have any dinosaurs to add. I think 1943 might be considered the dinosaur age!
That's me playing with the radio. Every family had someone in the service. That's a picture of my mother and my uncle who were both in the Army in 1943.

Here's mine. I tried to follow all the rules and hope I did ok. I got the newspaper and the patch from Angelwithin and the television from Marion. We had one when I was a kid that looked a lot like that. Once I found out the Ting A Ling Bingo (what a corny name) came out in 1968, I had to include it because we had that game and I remember we were playing it once and my little brother had a seizure. We never found out the cause and he never had another but it was quite a night. Thanks Wolvsie35 for those tips on where to find the trivia.

Thanks! Did you see my mom's hair? Did you see what she did to my hair? It was supposed to be a curl but looks like a mohawk. My kids want me to do pages on the years they were born now. As if I were not far enough behind in my scrapping already. nb
