this weeks challenge is called

'PAPER CHASE'

This week your mission if you accept it is to make layouts using only papers and shapes :D

RULES

1) Scrap a page (or more) Using only Papers and Shapes - be as inventive as you like - premade ripped, shaped & edged papers are allowed.

2) Any Colour or Theme is permitted

3) as many or as few photographs allowed as you want on each page

4) Journalling is optional

5) All pages to be in by Sunday March 2ndHappy Scrapping

I love your layout Fiona. I've gotten some pretty shapes from alot of talented designers on here! BUT...I've gotten discourage with using many shapes because they end up with a faint square behind them. :(

Do you or anyone else know why those light boxes appear, especially when you try to enlarge it? :confused:

Thanks Fiona, I love shapes and masks, they add so much to layouts.

Onie, I convert all my shapes to .jpg files. Have found that with .png files, you get those faded paper parts.

you send them all to me and i do it roflmao

in your graphics program flatten the image > change it into a negative > save as a jpeg


or you can fill the black areas with white and all the transparent areas with black and then save as a jpeg

This was a fun challenge, loved doing it.

Here's mine called Seedlings. See layout describing where all the shapes came from and who. Even though I love shapes and masks, think I went out of my box in doing this one.

Here is my layout for the challenge. I hope I did it all right. I used papers from SBM and shapes from Fiona (angelwithin) and journaling shapes from DLT. Sorry I don't recall the creator of the journaling shapes. :(

This gave me a chance to use a new template I downloaded from Digiscrap Depot. It is Dotted Wave by Brandy O'Neil but I did twik it a little. The striped paper and the dark blue are papers by Angle. All the rest are stock papers from SBM. Everything except the photos and journaling are masks.

Hi All, I really wanted to do this challenge, had my pictures picked out and everything, but I have no idea how to work with the shapes. I tried to use Fiona's shapes she gave us, and I can bring them into SBM, then I can't change the colors, or do anything like you guys are doing.:confused: I haven't worked with shapes that much, guess I'm going to have to decline this challenge. :(

open a paper > properties > click check custom shape > change shape > browse and find where you stored you shapes > ok > ok > stretch, shrink, size, position

Well, I have it a shot, here's my layout for the challenge. Hope its okay. I used paper by Beaded Folly Page Kit created by Irene Alexeeva at Digital Scrapbook Place. The shapes in the corner are by Julie Clark, SBM Store, Custom Shapes, all other shapes are by Fiona Storey (heart shapes, center shape.)

I finally finished this one...Hard to find colors to go with black...and then the orange color in the moon...Anyways, the background paper was from SBM the others were made by me...The ripped shape is either Fiona's or Donna's (can't remember...:eek: *puts sunglasses on to hide from their stare*) and other shapes from SBM...:D

here is mine everything comes from the shapes on the basic cd, layered the flower shapes with a circle for the centre of the flowers, used the smile shape for the picture, plain colour at the back with the frayed paper shape on top.

This is only my second LO without using a template. All papers and shapes are curtesy of SBM. (a little background, the picture is of my son, Simon at 4 months old; just taken last month. My husband/his daddy is currently in Iraq).

I would like to thank Fiona for allowing me to provide the mini kit and the tiles for this week's challenge. I really learned a lot from this. I was having problems figuring out what to do with papers in SBM (don't laugh, we all have our idiosyncrasies), and after reading all your posts for this challenge, I have finally seen the light!! Must be a wood fire, cause the energy crisis does not allow for anything else!!
