Onie's Hubby Very ill!!!

Ok Peeps, gotta phone from Onie just a few minutes ago. John had a heart attack today. He's in the hospital and they are going to do a cardiac catherder (sp??) tomorrow. If that doesnt go well, then he will need by pass surgery, wont know anything till tom. So lets get those prayers going for him!!!! I know we have a strong group here and prayers work when we all join in! I'll let ya know if I hear anything else.

Just a quick note!

I just got home from the hospital and John is resting. He's been in so much pain and he was not able to tolerate the Morphine. He will have the cardiac cath at 7:30 am. My parents flew in this evening so I wont be alone. This has been so hard!

Thank you for your prayers! I will try to keep you all posted. I will attempt to call Carol (Crops) or Julie (MaggieMae) as soon as I know something.

Hi everyone,

Well it's been a tough day and a half. John went through the Cardiac Cath fine. He had one main artery that was totally blocked. They were able to clean it out and insert a stint. He had a very difficult night, as he had another heart attach at 1am. He remains in ICU for a few days. Then to a regular room. I've had very little sleep and now I'm exhausted! I just got home and plan to take a nap, before going back to the hospital this afternoon. I will keep you all informed!

But if he has any more problems than they will have to do a bypass, so my heart goes out to you and John. Just so happy that they were able to help him. Just got home from the hospital! John was resting better but is still having some pain issues. They gave him some nitro several times but resulted with another shot of Dimerol. He's still in the ICU and they wont let him out until he is more stable. His vitals have been much better.

Tomorrow morning, the alarm will not be going off.............. I figure I will wake up early enough, without the alarm. Besides, visiting hours are pretty tight.......lol The visiting hours start at 9am.

Just spoke with John this morning. He's still in ICU but he is getting a real breakfast this morning......... a very good sign! Doc hasn't been in yet this morning. He said his leg/groin area is real sore from where they went in at. Also, it's been bleeding a lot. He sounds weak.

I actually slept HARD last night and didn't wake up until 9am. I call John first thing. I need to get my butt in gear and shower etc etc so I can head back to the hospital.

Just got home from seeing John!

His spirits are good but he is fighting an infection. Has been running a low grade fever and low blood pressure. They ran a culture but wont have the results back until tomorrow. Has been on antiobiotics since last night.

Hi All,

Wow, these days are long when your sitting at a hospital! He's still in the ICU but the doctor MIGHT let him move tomorrow to the telementry floor. He had been running a low grade fever from the staph infection. He's still on the IV antiobiotics so it should kick in soon.

Well it's off again to the Hospital in about an hour! Sure will be glad when he gets to come home! I've been out of work this entire time! I have to go back to work by Tuesday, cause I've used up all my sick leave. My parents plan to hang around here for a few days, after John gets home. It's been great having them here.

Onie..Im so sorry to hear about John..I have been under the weather myself and this is the 1st day Ive been on..You will be in my thoughts and prayers..the prayers from SBM seem to work miracles..Im proof of that...I know God hears and does answer them..sorry to hear about the infection..Ive been there done that and its no fun..it will take awhile to clear it up but with the right antibotics he will start to feel better soon..they just have to identify the name of the staph and then they will know what meds to give him and that can take several days or more..hang in there and you get your rest while he is in the unit..he is being well taken care of and it wont help anything if you get sick and run down..Im sending you my love and praying God will wrap his loving arms around you and John and give you comfort and his healing grace to John..Love ya Jazz

When I saw John last night, he was doing so good!!!! Doctor said that if all goes well, he will go to a regular room for the day. They will start the cardiac rehab program and watch him... If that goes well..... He might get to come home later tonight or tomorrow!

I would love to get him home before I go back to work Tuesday. I've used up all of my sick leave so I need to go back. My parents are staying about a week longer, then they will help me get John settled and to f/u with back at the VA clinic.

It's been a long, hard and tiring week but thank goodness, it's about over and my DH is going to be fine. He will have a lot of dietary changes to make and he will have to take medications, daily, from now on. He's never had to do that before so that will be a big adjustment. John doesn't need to lose weight but when he saw the dietary guidelines, he wasn't not happy. He told the nutrionist that the NO NO list was his whole grocery list.

I am thankful that he's okay and coming home soon!

John is doing great but the doctor wants to keep him for one more day. We were both disappointed but we both realize that he had a major MI and he has to take it easy. So another day is an ounce of protection. Tomorrow is another day.

Don't be too disappointed-I know that it would have been great to get him home today, but it is sooooo good that he is able to come home. It is too bad that you have to go back to work on Tuesday. It would have been so nice to be able to stay home at least a couple days to make sure he is comfortable, but at least your parents will be there for you and that is a great comfort and a lot of help. We finally got John home! Didn't get out until 3:30 this afternoon. He's getting around real good. My parents will take him to the VA clinic tomorrow, while I'm at work! He know's he has to take at easy and gradually get back to his previous activities.

DECAF!! Does John have to switch to DECAF!! Well that certainly isn't the worst thing that could happen. I could get used to DECAF if I had to. Drinking my DECAF on John! Welcome home!!!:) I know that you have to go on a strict diet now; but it will be sooo worth it in the end. You two take it easy and please no bedroom games for another day or two ok.;)
