I need suggestions on what kind of digital camera to buy...I had a Sony Cyber shot that recently quit working on me....I am planning to buy a new camera and was hoping all of you would tell me what you recommend. I am still leaning towards another Sony but the Kodak Easyshare looks good too....I have $200 to spend....Thanks for all your input...:)

To be honest........ The first digital I got was a Kodak and then I got a Sony. I had bad luck with my Sony. I had to return it for a defect with the shutter. They replaced it with another one and it gave me too many blurred pics. I ended up replacing it with another Kodak (Sureshot Z710) and absolutely love it! :D

I have the Kodak Z812. before it I had another Kodak gave it to my daughter she still loves it. one of my grandsons is using my first one still. I get a new one every few years for technology got to love all the new things. I have had several other kinds but love my Kodak best. now its my only one.its simple and yet does everything that other cambers can do.

I just got a kodak for christmas and they say it's good. Haven't got to use it yet. But it's really personal choice. The things you want to look for tho are at least 6MP for printing 8x10 or bigger, at least a 8x optical zoom (NOT digital zoom) and helps to have image stabilization for those action pictures. I learned that in my photography class. There are a lot of reasonably priced cameras out there for that price. I would have loved to have a canon rebel SLR but really couldn't afford that right now. Mine is a kodak with 8MP and 10x optical zoom and image stabilization. The kids bought it for me and they say it's good--so I will see when I start using it.

hp are great but Cannon is good.I got my camera last year it was $699 but went down in price to $499.Let me tell you I took it home and the book of instructions were so big.I packed it all up and took it to my cousins place and told him to play with it for a few weeks and I would be back so he could show me.It has been a year and I can zoom in and turn camera off and on ha ha but I will learn for the summer.:)I am sure whatever you buy you will like. With me I have to have that feeling that I like it before I buy.

Now that so many of you have the Kodak camera too, I have an interesting question that maybe one of you know about this. Our Kodak has a GREEN light that comes on before it flashes the picture. When the GREEN light comes on, it causes people to blink or close their eyes. Is there a way to prevent the green light or to stop it? Any other suggestions or thoughts on the subject?

I am on my 5th Sony, not because they break, but because I keep upgrading and handing them down to my kids. I now have a 10 mp and I still have my 7.2mp. On holidays and vacations both my husband and I take pictures and that way I am in at least a few of them. Just bought a Sony handycam digital video recorder too, one that writes to a mini DVD.

Hi Blue Velvet, hee hee, you sound like I did two months ago- I had a Sony Cyber shot too- but wanted to upgrade- I wanted something that had the EASE of a point and shoot but still had the "ability" of a SLR- hahahaha, Yeah- so after chatting to 2 photographers- both of which said buy NOTHING but canon-LOL, I got the Canon G9 Powershot! WOW!! I really can't tell you the difference- it's a 12.1mpx. It even had the option of an external flash. Hubby hates it because now the new photo's are so crisp and clear you can see his wrinkles- WAHAHAHAHA.
I haven't had a chance to PLAY with ALL the options yet but from what I have played with- I'm EXTREMEMLY happy!
Oh and it also shoots out the green light-LOL, but I haven't had ONE red eye in any of the night shots!!
I'll be sticking to canon's from now on- hahaha.
Hope you come right- :D
Hugs

I don't know about where you are going but look at Kodak on line for best deals. I also have a Sony but like the Kodak photos better. Of course I just got the little Sony for my purse because it was little and I can carry it everyplace, but have been eying the small Kodak for a replacement. just because its an emergency camber does not mean I don't wont a grate shot.
But I love easy as you know since I'm technicality challenged.

I got my new camera and it is awesome!!! I went to a regular Camera shop, figured they would know more than a Walmart or an Office store.. :D It was a little more expensive than what I was gonna buy but hubby put in the extra for me:) What a sweety!!
Anyway it is a Fuji Finepix s700. This thing does everything but the dishes...Gonna take me awhile to learn it. But WOW the pics are so clear & vivid....Everyone thanks for all your great ideas...
