opps its sunday...thanks Autisticwonder for reminding me :o

Going on Steve's (SRussell) post Holiday cooking I thought it would be fun to challenge you all to scrap a page showing your favourite winter season/holiday tradition recipes....this could be something you and your family always eat be it savoury or sweet...starters, proper meals, desserts or even candy treats ;)

so heres the challenge should you accept it.......

1. page/s is/are to be 4 x 6 (brag book size)

2. Recipe with cooking instructions to be on the page (photo of dish is optional but would be nice)

3. You can enter as many pages as you like

4. page images and/or gallery links to be posted in this thread

5. closing time is late Sunday 16th December

Have fun...i look forward to testing your recipes out :D

happy scrapping!

Oh goodie, more recipe's to add to last years recipe's. Don't know about a photo though, Won't be able to get that until Christmas! Don't know if any old pictures have a good enough shot of the food, but I can do a recipe!

here's a very English traditional recipe that we eat over the holiday period every year, there are now hundreds of ready made versions of mince pies now on sale in every supermarket, and most people cheat now by buying pre-made mincemeat in jars and frozen pastry  but being as i love to cook (and cos my mum makes the mincemeat up ready for me each year lol) i make my own

they are scrummy served warm with clotted cream (extra thick double cream works well too)

Hmmmm....this "around the world" recipe thing might be kinda hard. Suet is something I put out for the birds and what in the world is Sultanas? I'm afraid to look at the sugar "mice". Not sure I want to know what the "mice" are. LOL!

ooh thank you. I am not one for mince meat though. My aunt use to make it from scratch too. My dad loved it.

sultana raisins are golden raisins (dried grapes)

suet is used in tons of english recipes lol

and........sugar mice are just pure sugary indulgence :D

Whew! Thanks for the info on the mice. Maybe I'll go check it out. You know, those Love to Bake freebies would be good for this challenge, too.

Here is mine. I didn't have a picture so I attempted to create one in a Glass dish. I don't know if you can tell from this what it actually looks like or not??? I forgot to mention that is use a 9 x 13 baking dish. Papers and corners are from Winged Ohio.

My Mom would take me over to my Grandmothers and we would make mince meat every winter season. It's a fond memory. Not something I go out of the way for but I still like it. Great LO's Fiona. Sue, looks really good. I'll be on this later today or tomorrow. Can't wait!!

I forgot to mention that I did the layout with real sugar. Since I have sugar trouble I use ganular Splenda, sugar substitute, instead. It works great because it is on the outside of the cookies. I also do this for Rosettes and donuts as well. Not many can tell the difference.
