Ok Ladies... (and gentlemen too!) Here it is!! Your challenge for the month of December!!!!

For this challenge you get a WHOLE KIT!!!!! It is a pretty big 'ol file too so you have to go to the 2 links I have listed below to get the whole thing.

Your challenge... should you chose to accept it.... (and if you download the kit I hope that you do!).....

Sentiments of the Season!
It is a time of year when we pull out decorations and spend time with family and remembering all the things we have done through the year. Even if you don't celebrate Christmas... or any holiday at all... you can't help but feel the season all around you.

Your challenge is to contemplate what holds great sentimental value to you this time of year and then scrap a page about it! In my case it is some Christmas lights that I received when my Great Grandpa died. It just wouldn't be Christmas to me if I didn't hang those up! It can be a decoration, a tradition, a carol, or just something about this time of year that you hold dear to your heart!

1. Use elements ONLY from this kit!!!!! You may re-size and re-color all you like but please stick to this kit!

2. Make a 12x12 size Layout and Template

3. Post your LO and a TEMPLATE of your LO to share in this Thread!

By the end of the month we should have a great template set to use for all your favorite wintry pictures!

Feel free to PM me or post here with any questions you have concerning this challenge!

Good luck and thanks for participating!!!

Gotta go to the rental store and get some movies now Sue... I don't own ANY Christmas movies! Sadly I think the one on the top of hubbys list to own would be "A Christmas Story" ROTFL!!! lol........

12-06-2007, 09:30 PM
Well here is mine...This tradition might sound silly, but without it, Christmas Eve wouldn't be the same in our house..Our family was doing this way before I was even born..
I included the couple things I made for the page as well...:D

12-06-2007, 09:46 PM
Very nice layout, and such a nice tradition!

12-06-2007, 10:28 PM
Ditto, Great tradtion and love the layout.

12-06-2007, 11:09 PM
That is Sweet Wolvsie! I like that idea a lot!!! What a cute page and thanks for including the freebies and template!

12-07-2007, 05:22 AM
I'm very sentimental about the Christmas Eve dinner we have as a family. We all go to Mom and Dad's and have Steak Fondue with all kinds of dips and cheeses. Everyone brings something. This is an old photo. We now have great-grandbabies coming. All together there are now 30 of us but we still crowd around the table to wait for Santa Claus. The next morning we all come back to see what Santa brought everyone. Our spouses' families just have to wait till Christmas night because Santa always goes to Grandma's!

Great layout Hope!

12-07-2007, 01:56 PM
Hi everyone. I'm new to Scrapbook Max. This is my first post. I loved doing this challenge. My favorite thing about Christmas is trimming the tree. Hope that I did okay. Everyone else's are beautiful! The jpg file is too big to upload, and I don't know how to change the file type, sorry!, so here is the shortcut.

12-07-2007, 05:48 PM
Beautiful pages Mattchel and Hope!!! Love the sentiments!! So glad to have both of you participate!! My family too has a big Christmas Eve dinner with all the Grandkids! It gets to be quite a crowd! Christmas just isn't started for me untill the tree is up! LOVE THEM BOTH!!!

I am going to try and post a quick tutorial on how to 'make' a template out of your layout. It is VERY EASY! I don't have time at the moment but I promise to try hard to get one up in the next few days. It will be here in this thread. So if you don't know how to make a template but would like to share your LO as a template keep your eyes peeled!!

12-07-2007, 05:59 PM
I made a layout. This is my first in any challenge. Will try to make a template but cannot garantee:).

12-08-2007, 05:39 PM

12-08-2007, 09:28 PM
Oh Wickel what a wonderful page! I am so sorry to hear that your sister was taken from you, but what a wonderful poem to help you remember she is always there!!!!

12-08-2007, 10:47 PM
We have begun in recent years to make our own greeting cards for folks, whether for the holiday season, birthdays, etc. We try to make each person's or family's card different from the rest, so they are all individualized with our "special sentiments" for them. So I decided I would do a postcard greeting for this challenge just to show you one way we have done this in the past. Below you will see both sides of the postcard type of greeting that we have made...thank you, Tina, for your EXCELLENT kit to do this with!! Hope everyone enjoys the template :D

12-08-2007, 11:14 PM
LOVE IT!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! I am SO using this for my Christmas cards this year!!! (better get started on em hu! lol) What a wonderful way to make it special for everyone you send them to!! Thanks for sharing your super tradition!

12-10-2007, 02:27 AM
No matter when we eventually get the tree up and this year it seems late, my garage which is in a sifferent building than my apartment is iced shut!We hide the presents and only put them under the tree after the kids are in bed late on Christmas Eve. Do Not Open Util Christmas is our tradition.

12-10-2007, 03:49 PM
Very nice layout and template!

12-11-2007, 10:14 AM
Very cute page Crystal! LOVE how you made the present to place the pictures in. So creative!!! Love the tradition!! My family also takes turns opening presents! I LOVE it because it makes Christmas last so much longer!

Great LO and thanks so much for participating!!!

12-11-2007, 10:22 AM
OK, I promised instructions on how to create a template to share. SUPER EASY!!!

1. open a new scrapbook and give it a title that will fit your template. IE Tina's Dec challenge page.

2. import the page(s) that you want to make into a template and delete the first blank page. When your new book consists of the pages you want in your template proceed to step 3.

3. Go to File> Export Template> Fill in the information requested and click ok.

4. when it has completed you can upload the template here. Choose the paper clip icon to add an attachment to your message.

5. browse to your Scrapbook Max folder> templates> then find your template and upload to the site for sharing!!!

EASY!!!!! Good luck and PM me or post here with any questions!!! Can't wait to snatch up more of these great LO's!

12-11-2007, 07:14 PM
I followed in 1 got lost at 2 .Told yah I am not a bright camper.:D.So at least i tried and made a layout at least.:)

12-11-2007, 09:38 PM
haha... you are too cute Eye!!! Thanks for trying to make a template for us!

For Eye and anyone else who may have been confused by step two. Basically before you can export a template you need a scrapbook that has ONLY the page you want made into a template. If you have made your page in another scrapbook you don't want ALL the pages of that entire book made into a template. This is why we open a new scrapbook

To import your page into the new scrapbook - at the top of the screen in your scrapbook max program click the icon that looks like a sheet of paper and has a green plus sign on it. This will open a screen that displays all of your scrapbooks. Click on the book that contains your challenge page. then chose your challenge page and click import.

Now you should have a scrapbook with Page 1 being blank and page 2 being your challenge page. Delete the blank page so that your new book contains only your challenge page.

Now you can get to step three! :D

12-12-2007, 08:19 AM
Thanks, Eye. I was lost at 2 also, but as I continued to read, I found you asked my question and Manatee answered us both. I don't know that anyone will want my template but I will get it done tonight just so that I can say I followed the challenge to a "T". Does this mean that if I made a scrapbook with just this challenge, it would have been ok to export as template from there or not? I plan to keep all challenges in one scrapbook but for anything else that I just do one page for?

Wowwwwwwwwwwww! I loved these,
great job, thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

12-12-2007, 12:03 PM
Yes Hope! if you create your page in a new scrapbook then you can just export to a template. Basically the point it that whatever is in your book will be part of the template... so you don't want to share your entire album :)

Glad somebody told me I wasn't making sense! lol... Thanks Eye!

12-12-2007, 03:21 PM
Wow, I just found this thread (haven't been on for awhile getting ready for the holidays and all...) - I am sooo looking forward to doing something with this! I will get fresh pictures in the next week or two and will post something before New Year's Eve. This is such a cool kit, and I love the embellishments and papers everyone has come up with! I wish I could be creative enough to create those like you guys can.

12-13-2007, 09:12 PM

Well I will venture out again ha ha. I am really trying hard but I is as dum as dummer who thought he was the dummist:D.

12-14-2007, 09:31 AM
So I guess it would be smarter to just make each challenge it's own scrapbook if there is a request for templates. Got it!

12-18-2007, 11:26 AM
I just loved this challenge I had to join....We all miss grandma very much so that is what we all think about at chistmas time. She was a very important part of all our lives...the template I used, I call it a Picture Board. Unfortunately its to big to post:eek: so I was hoping someone could tell me how to make it smaller. I removed the pictures but optimized the embellishments..But it is still to big...hope someone can help...I really want to share this template....thanks Christina aka bluevelvet:)
P.S. the christmas tree in the pictures belonged to her and we put it up every year. She made all the decorations by hand....

12-18-2007, 12:09 PM
Did you remember to change the size to web/email? It defaults to full size. Maybe that's the trouble. Great sentiment page!

12-18-2007, 07:04 PM
Well I have tried several times to upload the template. I made it smaller and still no luck so I uploaded it to 4share and you can download it here (http://www.4shared.com/file/32441080/569e9d04/Bluevelvet-Vintage_Memories.html)...
Hope you all like it..

12-18-2007, 08:58 PM
Thanks for sharing the template Christina! What a BEAUTIFUL page and a wonderful sentiment!!! ( I often have a hard time getting my templates to be small enough.... they have to be under 5mg. the only thing you can do is resize the papers and embies outside of SBM and then bring them back in... not to fun)

4 shared is a perfect way to share this lovely template!!! Thanks for participating! This is a WONDERFUL page!!!

12-19-2007, 09:06 AM
So I guess it would be smarter to just make each challenge it's own scrapbook if there is a request for templates. Got it!

Hope I love your Geneology blinkie! I am a geneology nut too.

12-19-2007, 05:07 PM
Well Ladies.... looks like my challenge page will have to wait until after Christmas! LOL. The biggest challenge for me has been finding any time to do it this month! LOL. Headed out of town tomorrow morning for Christmas so I won't have my wonderful SBM program :( I will have internet access though so keep sending those pages in! I have LOVED all of them so far!!! Remember that December doesn't end on the 25th!! There is still a week and a half to get your challenge done! :D

12-19-2007, 09:09 PM
Stay safe Tina and have a Merry Christmas...((HUGS)):D

12-20-2007, 07:58 AM
Hope I love your Geneology blinkie! I am a geneology nut too.

Thank you but Autisticwonder deserves all the credit. Isn't she just the greatest? But I really do love my genealogy. Now I have two passions, genealogy and SBM! I'm so glad I can combine the two!

12-21-2007, 08:02 AM
Great layouts all. Hope by next month, I can get my act together and get back here on a full time basis.

12-21-2007, 06:04 PM
Here's my contribution, and it's the first template that I've ever created, so please let me know if it doesn't work properly.

This tradition the page is built around stems from a paper chain that my sister and I made some 30 years ago. Our mother still puts it on her Christmas tree to this day.

This year, our Dad decorated the tree all by himself. This is a major accomplishment when you consider that he spent most of the summer in the hospital, fighting clogged arteries in his leg. He ended up losing his left leg above the knee the first of August. He's come far enough along in his therapy and recovery that he's back to work half-days and is getting around quite well. "Thank you, Lord!" and "Yay, Dad!" comes to mind! :)

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this page. I really enjoyed putting it together. Many thanks to Manatee25 for the design work. It's beautiful stuff to work with.

12-21-2007, 06:45 PM
That's a great sentment to have. Yea, Dad!!!

12-29-2007, 10:56 PM
Beautiful TNLori!!! That is so neat that a paper chain could survive to become so special!!!!

12-29-2007, 11:07 PM
YEAH!!!! I FINALY got to finish a page for my own challenge!!!! Haha!!! Here it is!!!

And here is the template for everyone too!

Thank you SO MUCH EVERYONE for your participation in this challenge!! I know Dec is a pretty crazy month for most people so I appreciate the time you all took to share with us a bit of what makes this season special for you!!

If you haven't had a chance to finish your page there is still one day of the year left!!! (and hey we will accept late entries too!! lol)

12-30-2007, 08:01 AM
Everyone's pages are wonderful!

12-30-2007, 12:28 PM
Beautiful TNLori!!! That is so neat that a paper chain could survive to become so special!!!!

Hehehe, my sister and I used to be soooo embarassed by it, but we're touched by it now. Dad built a special box for it years ago, so even if an elephant sits on the Christmas decorations (hey, it could happen...), the chain will survive and the elephant will wonder what on earth that little sharp thing in it's behind is.

After I created this page and posted it, I went to the extended family Christmas in West Virginia - Dad was walking on his own, with the prosthetic leg, no cane, no walker - he was wobbly, but he was doing it. Not bad for a guy that just lost his leg in August. YAY DAD!!! :D
