She got 3 shots and never flinched...Oh how I was blessed with this child!:)

Took these while at her Apt. She goes to see a hearing specialist Monday and hopefully they will be able to tell us where we go from there..I pray to God every night and morning that she will be able to hear SOMETHING someday contrary to popular belief, learning ASL is NOT all that easy! Emmy's Doc gave me one of his old books he used in a course he took in College to help me learn it faster..YEAH RIGHT!

Oh Wiz she is adorable!!!! Keep your hopes going strong, and you will see that she will do amazing things. Learning will come in time, don't fret over it. She is one amazing child and always will be. You have every right to be proud of her.

Oh bless her, she is lucky to have a Mum who takes it as it comes and does everything right and not to the text book :) You're both brilliant. My kids learnt to sign at school , easier for young minds, they had a deaf unit which was intergrated into the main school. There are courses here we can go on and I understand are quite fun, even for those whose brains are in decline like me! Anyway you may not need them, Emily is full of surprises :) x

That layout you did of her is sooooo good.

I am sure you will learn to sign without much trouble. I don't know how to sign (well I know a couple) but I know the alpha in sign. I taught myself when I was in school after reading Helen Keller. Then I taught my one friend so we could talk back and forth with it, and her brothers wouldn't know what we were saying. Well, as things turned out, she has a daughter who is deaf. She can hear a little with hearing aids. Medicine has come a long way so I would keep the faith that she will be able to hear.

MsWizard I had to share this L/O with you. My daughter is going to college for ASL. She is in her 2nd year ! She has a few more yrs to go :). It was so funny that she should grow up and decide to do this. I also did this when I was younger and she had no clue lol.

Whiz.... What a precious baby you have! I too pray that she will gain some hearing. But she already has the best gifts of all... A loving family, and many friends that love her and whish her the very best life can give her.

And always let her know that true happiness does not lie with having what we want, but wanting what we have!

Confusious Estee

a beautiful thread... thank you so much for keeping us updated with Emily's lfe.
AS hard as it may be you will learn to sig if needed. My oldest daughter is an interpreter for the deaf. She started learning over 10 years ago to help interpret Bible discourses at Christian meetings to the deaf ones that attended.. And at large conventions where there were many deaf people she would be one of the assigned interpreters to convey the public talks to them - how I loved to watch the signing and when the "sang" with their hands it was so moving and the "appplause" by waving their hands in the air - Fascinating. She did all that as a volunteer but she also now works for the deaf society as an interpreter too . We have a signing system here called Auslan so I think its a little different.
whatever comes your way I know you will cope.. and you are blessed with a heart of gold as well
