Just to let you all know that I will not be participating in the challenges as much for a while I need to job hunt. I was given a couple of months notice but was given termination papers yesterday.

I am the trainer for my deptartment so I have to stay there until January to collect my severance pay. I am a Pharmacy technician assistant and they want us to be certified now so they are hiring certified technicians. I just miss my 10 year anniversary by 25 days. But God has a way of opening up windows when he shuts a door. So off I go to dust off my resume' or C.V. , thanks for listening. Love you guys!

Sorry to hear that, but I am sure you will find something else! This could be a perfect opportunity to try something new.

That's a shame Crystal-after 10 years of service they let you go. Couldn't they pay for you to get certified?? Don't worry there will be something out there for you.

I am sorry...I think they should pay for you to get certified or at least give you the option....I wish you luck and you will be in our prayers..

Down this way we are grandfathered in. Those who are working can stay. For example years ago when I was in my thirties their was a few who worked at a nursing home and got hired in the hospital with no nursing coarse just experience. Beacause they were full time and they changed the rules and just wanted licensed people they were aloud tostay tillretirement. They had a clause called the grandfather clause.

So sorry to hear all this sad news but you are right God will watch over you.:)

I think this sucks (hope I can say that on here), but as you say God does have a way of shutting one door and opening another......I am sure he has something really special lined up for you and I will pray that he shows you this soon.

Ouch that hurts .... I'm a certified technician in the UK ... started off as a pharmacy assistant then went to school 1 day a week, while working the other 4 days in the pharmacy. Took 2 years but was a fantastic opportunity .. is there anything like that over here in the states?

No, they are trying to do the right thing here they offered for me to become a certified tech in on the job traing and self study but due to personal problems I might not be able to pursue that. They offered training as a nurse as well for a two year program with 50% pay while I learn. There were 5 options to pursue. I have to investigate those. I just don't feel that the studying for a dollar an hour increase when I am really stuggling anyway will be worth it. I might want to take the lump sum severance pay and pursue something more worthwhile. I have been an underachiever there and don't want to do that anymore. Anyway... I have an appointment with human resources tomorrow to discuss what is holding me back in purseing the cert. tech. position so wish me the best. Thanks for listening and all of your thoughts it really means a lot.

Take a deep breathe and analyze the situation. It really may be a blessing in disguise. I work with adults in a retraining program and help them discover a new life after losing a job. I STARTED college when I was 50, so don't think you can't learn later in life and change careers. Going back to school might be a good solution for you.

Thank You to all the peops that have read this thread and given me imput. Today was a rough day.

And of course I haven't been able to do much for appointments my car broke down while I was out of town for the weekend last. We tow it home tomorrow. It's the brakes.

I will say more next week and give an update once the news turns around for the better. My Doctors advise me to not pursue the stress of school, hopefully they are wrong. I've been severely depressed before. Maybe I'll try to prove them wrong anyway!!!! Wish I could give an upbeat update, so hopefully soon... Thanks for all of your support!

Best of luck in the job hunt or whichever way you choose to go. Just keep saying to yourself that you are a good person and have a lot to offer. I went back to school and got my degree and CPA at the age of 50 - refused to give up or to anyone. Take care and don't let yourself get down.

Found out the schooling=training options that they offered all have pre-requisists, which I don't have. I now know how hard it will be to stay there and train in the temporary people who will be taking over our area.

Hopefully things will start to turn around by the end of this week or by next week. Keep rooting for me.

I'm starting a blog with a cookbook/scraping idea that I'd like to share with everyone. So I have a leisure activity to get me though all of this. It's still under construction. So get your great local recipies dusted off and ready for me hee hee!

Things have been much better finally today. I did a brief "grief" bit, butamback on track again and I did alot of research about my options and oneof the training programs may be do-able. Work offered new positions for us to apply to as well. I was told not to bother, based on tardiness and a few other factors whichare partially medically related but Ineed to fight to make them more aware of this. I have a game plan. A plan of action and new job prospects now as well.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!!! I will probably pursue schoolingand retraining for the long term and future.

Getting better all the time :D
