View Full Version : August Mid-Month Challenge

08-15-2007, 02:41 PM
The end of summer here in the states is approaching fast. My kids go back to school in 2 weeks (HIP HIP HOORAY!). Iím excited, they are not! Iím looking forward to having time to scrap again. I have not been able to spend nearly the amount of time scrapping as I would like.

This month for the mid-month challenge, I would like to do an Ad Challenge. In looking for inspiration to scrap some pages, I turned to all the magazines I have laying around on my coffee table. I donít have time to read them, so I may as well use them for scrapping. Every ad is really a layout. Take a look at them sometime and you may get inspired. Here is one I found and the layout it inspired.

Your challenge if you choose to take it is to scour your magazines for an ad that inspires you. Make a mask template for all of us and post it here to share. Donít forget to post a copy of the ad if you can and your final scrapbook page. Happy Scrapping!

Here is my entry. I scraplifted a Transition Lens ad. I think the embies and the green background was from the original SBM kit. Thanks to Mumu for the grungy yellow paper accent. I like 8X8 layouts but the text could be moved to the bottom of the page in an 8X10. This is one time the wide shot is very useful. The photo really needs a huge crop to fit the layout.

Cute idea Marion....;)

Marion and Grannywin these are great! Everytime I look at an ad in a magazine now, I'm always thinking "I have pictures that would look good in this layout". Scrappin is always on my mind. Grannywin - would you mind making a gray scale template out of your ad layout to share with all of us? Autisticwonder has the gray papers somewhere here for us, but for the life of me I can't find the link. Can anyone help?

Is this the one?

Shoot, for some reason when I copy the URL's then test it, I can't get it to go to the page. I use to do it all the time, but now it doesn't work for me.

didn't work for me either Sue.

My kids wouldn't drink milk all summer. So this is a good one, Marion!

Sue, I had the same problems, you have to go and delete the double "http://" in both sections of what you copy. It's only been happening the last couple of months.

I just did it on quote section, so it should work now.

This is the first grayscale template I have made. Note you can change the wording to fit your needs.. I got the ad from a Quilting Mag. My finished LO is of my Grandkids last year.

Elements were designed by Diana Carmichael (Knzus). This kit is available at the SCRAPBOOK MAX Booster Store.
Kit: Favorite Blue Stationary Template

Very nice Julie! aaahhhwe so cute and true! Sometimes they catch us by surprise and we see the world from a whole new perspective. What a good memory to keep alive by scrapping it! Great layout and thanks for the template with goodies!

These are great everyone~They are so creative and look like a lot of fun. I need to get my butt in gear and see what I come up with. Hopefully I can find the time to do one.

I'm sorry ladies---I feel like I posted this thread and abandoned you all. I have not been on my computer so I'm spending this morning catching up. Gotart, Crystalinminn, Mh51 and Julie these layouts are wonderful. I hope you all never look at a magazine ad the same way again.

08-22-2007, 07:29 AM
Great Job Julie, Love it.

08-22-2007, 07:42 AM
Here is my attempt at the challenge. I made the Title area smaller than the original and used a flower pot instead of the circle.

08-25-2007, 07:52 PM
Another try at this challenge.

Just change the wording as needed... Mine was done as a 8X8..
