I'm always amazed to hear of air crash victims so badly mutilated that
they have to be identified by their dental records. What I can't
understand is, if they don't know who you are, how do they know who your
dentist is?

Before I post this I want to state That I am an Australian through and through as far back as I can trace..... so PLease other Aussies here Do NOT take offense at this...
( it is tongue in cheek - in the Austraialian spirit of taking the mickey out of ourselves)

Q. What's the difference between a pot of yoghurt and an Australian?

A. Well, you need a bit of culture to start a yoghurt.:D

I'm right there with you MoonBeam. This is something that has had me baffled for a long time.

Well, kiddies, is this way... It had me pussled too, but I think this is the way it works...

They have a manifest of all the people on the plane. By process of elimination, they know who they don't know, and then they have to call on all the dentist of everyone on the flight that they don't know are there. If they are not there, the dentist have to provide the records to show that they are. So now that they are, they can be eliminated as being eliminated.

I think I will quit while I'm ahead. How morbid can you get this early in the morning.

Granny

Moonbeam

How do they know the dentist of anybody on that flight?

Lorne

<whisper>THEY KNOW EVERYTHING.</whisper>

As Jem puts it:

Who are they
And where are they
And how can they possibly
know all this

:)

Maybe they contact the company that the missing people work for and find out which dentist they go to by looking at their dental plan information from the billing info from previous claims.

Or they could contact the family of the missing people to find out where they go to the dentist.

That is my 2 cents.

I just figured thats what Grisim from CSI would do.... or maybe he would just shine a black light on the tooth in question and go from there. Ever notice that to be a good CSI all you have to do is own a black light and have a good DNA guy.

CSI is one of the few shows that me and my G friend both somewhat like. 24 is OK too but don't you think Jack Bauer should be dead by now?? I mean c'mon he's like done everything now, and there are 3 more seasons coming.. sheesh..

Adam.

They're going to make Jack the head of CTU. Then in the next season he'll become the president.

Adam
06-02-2006, 04:00 PM
Then he will become a diety and rule from the heavans... but remember that there are always bad guys to fight..

Adam.

I'd like to see Jack learn some Rex Kwan Do, Napoleon Dynamite style.

I rest my case.... Rest in peace!

Look, Moonbeam, just cause I asked you to visit me someday in California, does not mean you're going to crash. Get a grip! If you feel better about it, just swim over, don't fly.

Ok! Here's another thing toponder..
You know how Helicopters take off vertical due to the action of the rotar blades.... well what holds them down.. what action "lefts them off"? I mean how come once the blades are spinning they don't just lift off the ground ? How can they just sit on the ground with the blades going?
C'mon there must be some pilots there who would know this..I've always wondered that!

srussell
06-02-2006, 10:33 PM
The blades actually have a "pitch" control... As the blades spin, the amount of pitch can be increased to give the helicopter more lift.. The pilot can also adjust the amount the entire rotor to make the copter move forward or backwards... Combine an increase of rotor speed and an increase in blade pitch and the copter takes off... Airplane kinds of works the same way...increase the "flaps" and increase the speed of the plane , then you're airborne!

The tail rotor is used to keep the body of the helicopter stable as the main rotor spins, otherwise the body would spin in the same direction as the blades. :)

At least you ponder cool stuff! I'm sitting here pondering why in all my life the only year I don't have a dandelions in my yard is the when I have a cute template with dandelions! Someone shared that cute template in the template section and I was excited for the dandelions to come so I could take pictures of them with my kids! Wouldn't you know it!! Oh yeah I guess this needs to be in a gripe section instead of the Ponder this section!:)

You just made me laugh Kode. Me thinks these people have too much time to think!
Seriously though, I do ponder at times, but never about dental records etc. I figure once I am dead, it's up to them to figure it out! My job will be done!
I have golden streets and pearly gates to explore! Hee hee!

Marion

P.S I knew the thingy about the helicopter. My husband and I both used to fly planes. So that is one less thing to ponder about.

He is also a "NEVER" and "ALWAYS" person.

Well, ok, I'll tell you what I do ponder about sometime, although my shrink said there was nothing to ponder about. But then, what did she know, she kick the bucket when I needed her most. Go figure...

Oh, yeah, here it is, what I ponder about... When I'm walking, am I really moving forward, or am I standing in the same place, and it's really the earth that is moving. Same as when I'm driving. Yeah right, tell me how dumb I am to ponder such a thing. But, dentist? Helicopters? Who is nuts?

But living in the land down under... my mind boggles when I think about someone somewhere in the world is upside down at any given time and yet we don't feel it..we still see everything the right way up...I know gravity stops us all from falling off the earth but its still hard to comprehend...... Oh, my word, heresy!!!! You don't know what an australian shepperd is? I'm going to look for a picture of my doggy to show you! They are beautiful dogs. They have the spots of a Dalmation, the dark color of a Shepperd, and the hair of a Collie! And they are loyal, lovable, and non-Australian!!! :p

Corey
06-05-2006, 12:35 AM
Cachirulo? Sure! I know him! Shortstop for the Yankee's 63-66? Great right hand but he couldn't hit... Which reminds me of a long protracted story about baseball actually which goes a little something like this. You see, back in '63 the style was to wear an onion on your belt, "walking apples" they called them. Anyhow one day Cachirulo and his pet... Wait, did you say, "Cachirulo"? Ooohhh, I'm sorry... I thought you said, "Cachurilo". My mistake... never mind...

True enough. Oh what a cad I've been! I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to all the Kapiliks of the world, even the non-practicing ones.

I never intended for anyone to be inconvenienced by my comments, especially me frankly. So you can just imagine my chagrin. It's a double tragedy.

Ok You cad... ponder this!
have you ever wondered

Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways?

Why is it that when you transport something by car, it's called a shipment; but

We hire 1 Kapilik every 5 years... so watch it or we'll hire the one that likes to randomly unplug servers... I mean I guess having someone with that disorder at a software company if foolish but hey someones gotta spice things up.

Oh, my word, not another religion....

Let me tell you what happened many years ago. I was out in the car with three other friends, and we were out doing guess what? Preaching..... Then I see this car with a window sticker, and it looked like a religious symbol, so in total dismayed, I turned around and look at the group and said the words above. It turned out to be a sticker for Tune Up Masters! I needed a nervous tuned up after that! Believe, it was hysterical at the time.

Well, my dear Kapilics out there..... I gave at the office! :p

Oh, about Cachirulo.... Corey, you are usch a nut! It's just a name Cubans love to use. Cachito means "small piece or bite". So Cachirulo is an endearment meaning little love.

Granny :D

PS: <whisper> What in the world is a Kapilic? <whisper>
