Downtown Gadsden around 1946-47... there was no such thing as a mall and when folks went to town that made a day long trip of it... and they were always dressed up... high heels and all. The war was over and things that had been rationed for so long were back in the stores... like silk stockings... A disabled vet would snap your picture for a small donation. In these pics left to right are my mom and dad, my mom's friend, mom, me granddaddy.

Wow! I had completely forgotten about those photographers... about seeing disabled veterans... about having to dress up to go to a department store downtown.
