Hello All
You all know that this project is very dear to my heart and the hearts of a lot of our SBM family and its been very important to get a lot of pages and get this slide show to as many of the troops as possible..Shelby and I were talking about how many we would need to make at least an hour show..and its a lot..over 100 ..shelby was in a chat room on National Scrapbook Day on 3scrapateers and she mentioned what was going on and they jumped right in wanting to make pages also..then the owners of the 3scrapateers site contacted shelby and they want to fund the project and try to reach ALL the troops on all the bases there.. of ALL the countries with troops there.. that would mean 300 + dvds plus the cost of mailing them there..they are making a mega kits for the project and all the proceeds of the sale of the kit will go toward funding this..anything left 3scrapateers will pay..Im not sure on the dates..I think the kit will go on sale in early june and the pages turned in by a date in July..will have to find that out..there are a lot of members there that have family serving now and they have volunteered to find a contact person for each branch of the military..I think the Navy and Coast Guard they are working on now..the rest is covered..anyone who has a family member from Great Britian or Australia or any other country with troops there and who wants to help finding a contact person for your countries troops can let us know..
Some of the suggestions they made for pages were ones like we have been doing..ones with our pictures and our families pictures so they will know who sent them...your name somewhere on the page so they will know who sent it..not real big but there..names of everyone who made a page will be in the credits at the end of the show..pages to let them know we remember their families..children can color pages for the troops or write letters..and you can make it into a page..some of these things I hadn't thought about..Shelby and I talked on the phone about all of this.. she is a dear..sweet.. person and this is on her heart like it is on ours..she and I think it would be a great idea to combine our pages with theirs so Im writing this to get your feelings and feedback on it..this could even spread to other sites and the results be overwhelming..would that not be WONDERFUL..I know morale is very low there now and they are there for US so the more we can do to show them we care the better it will be.. Shelby will be posting more about this later...hugs to all..

WOW .... that is awesome. I cant wait to hear more about this. Just one question [atm] ..... I'll be buying the kit when it comes out just to help the funding, but do we have to use it for a page? [I love making my own stuff]

the more pages we can get made the better the slide show will be..when you make your page post it in the Pages for out military thread..instructions are there telling you how to do it..if you have any questions post them here or you can pm me..thanks again rhiamontina :)

Thanks muma..this is so exciting isn't it..and no you dont have to use the kit..you can use anything you want and make any kind of page you want..just getting the message that WE CARE thru the page is the most important thing.. :)

Jazz -- this is an excellent idea! I did suddenly think of some things.....

When you save the pages we made, is the SBM thing going to show (the one in the right bottom corner)? Would it help to send you personally the finished page(s) besides posting it in the other thread? Those of us who have already uploaded pages, do you want us to go back and put our names (or screen names) on them? (I realize some delete their pages as soon as they finish and upload them, so that might not work for everyone.)

And we - ourselves - will be able to buy the DVDs? And if we have family members in the military - they will or will not get one? -- or would we need to purchase for them? Does this cover veterans?

I had nothing to do with this new developement..shelbz made a comment in a chat and it took off from there..but Im so excited you are excited about it too..Im hoping it spreads all thru the digital scrapbooking community..all Ive done in all this is post a thread a while back..and planted an idea..all of you are making it happen with your pages..keep on making them..the more we have the better and longer the slide show will be..we dont want to have them all assembled for a show and it last 15 minutes.. ohh and one more thing..try to make your pages 12x12 size in 300 dpi so they will show up better on the screen..thanks croppie :)

*groan* Now there's something I wish I had known before! Wow, thanks for letting us know. I hadn't even thought about the size and dpi. My next question then, besides the ones below (or above, haha, depending on your viewing settings), is - should we go back and redo our others to those sizes/dpi?

This is such a wonderful project Jazz & Shelbz. The following two links are to ladies who are giving away a combined kit over the next week. Its called Old Glory. Everyone working on these pages may want to download this kit. You have to visit both blogs because each blog has its own download.

WOW knzus you are full of questons arent you..LOL..but all very good ones indeed..and some I have dont have answers for right now but will find out..I dont know for sure if you will be able to buy the dvd..thats a good idea though..will find out..no each troop member wont get a dvd..they are making them for all the units to be seen as a group..I dont know it I worded that right..
would be great if we could give them all one individually but the cost would be astronomical I woud think..
No this doest apply to our beloved vetrans..just for the troops now..I would love to see us take up another project after this to make pages for all our family memebers who have severed in past wars and conflicts..I myself would love to have a dvd of them..I love history and pages like that..like the one you made for your dad..its beautiful..and the ones Maggie Mae made about her friend..awesome and Ive seen lots of others in the gallery that are beautiful and I would love to have..
remaking you page to add you name is up to you..there will be a credits page at the end of the show and your name for those pages will be in that..sending them by email is also a great idea..could be put in a folder, zipped up and sent to the appropriate person when the deadline is over..
you can send them to me at clasyscraps@yahoo.com no spam please or I will sic Granny on you LOL..send the ones you have already made too.. or post them in the forum so we can all see them..then save them all in a folder and when the deadline is over zip them all up and send to me..that might work out better..
Now about the size.dont remake what you have already done..thats a lot of trouble..maybe if you have a photo editing program like acdsee you could change the size in there..thats where I resize all my pages to post in the gallery..just make all you new pages 12x12 and in 300 dpi..
Ok..if you or anyone else have any questions..please let me or shelbz know either here or by private message or email..love to all :)

I have several layouts that I put on the Gallery, before this project was started! I will send them to the thread for the military. I'm sure I can get some info to send the CD to my son-in-laws unit and my nephews unit. Currently, I have them both getting reading to deploy. This will be Dean's third tour and Brad (nephew) first tour.

I will check with some of my parents at school to see if they would like for me to include their husbands/wife. As I mentioned before, I live in a military community and many of my kids have parents who are currently deployed.

Jazz and Shelbz

What an exciting development to your project!!!

Reading this has boosted my spirits - quite literally.

Could this be the start of a global project for Digital Scrapbookers? Someone needs to drop a dime to FOX, BBC, CNN - see how you handle that level of exposure!!!

Jazz, a very special 'thank you' for allowing me to gently blow on the embers of the fire that you created.

L&R
Terry.
