Please explain this process - is the color swatch the only colors I am to use? I get how to change sizes and that the theme is important - how appro for Moms Day - what other tips can you offer to get me more enamoured with this software, LOL, as my hubby thinks I am now having a PC affair :rolleyes:

your mission if you are willing to accept it (ive been watching too many films lol) will be to make mother/grandmother themed pages and just to make it a little harder i'd like to see lots and lots of 8 x 10 sized pages :D (bet you all thought angelwithin meant something nice until then didnt you lol)

so its mother/grandmother themed pages in 8 x 10 size

there will be a large kit uploaded on tuesday to get you started

and heres the colour swatch

you can make as many or as few pages as you want, upload them in this thread as templates and obviously show them off in the gallery so that by the end of may we should have a huge kit of embellishments and huge album of template pages all in a mother/grandmother theme (in 8x10 size hint hint) in the swatch colours

I also make a separate folder for each challenge. Unfortuneately I have'nt kept up with sorting them afterwards. I still have to to that. But that was my plan! I better start before I get really behind!

I also put a copy of the color swatch in the folder to make it easier for making things.

Gee Marion, great Idea. Maybe I won't take the time to separate them. I had moved all the previous month challenges to my external hard drive so they are not taking up space on my computer. But they are still easy to access, and I can bring the folder to my desktop if I want to use it.

Don't worry, you just make the 8x10 per instructions and then make as many as you want in whatever size you want!:)

Thanks Fiona, very pretty kit and oh so many papers and embellishments.

Two folders came in under the image gallery for embellishments named 'Dusty Rose Papers' and 'may challenge embies'. Renamed them to add your signature 'FST'. Always like to know who did things.

Now to start looking for all those great pictures.

we normally share the templates of our pages in the challange - if you need help making a template just give us a shout...you can pm me if you like and i'll happily explain how to export a template and upload it in a post :D

Can you share with me how you are making your embellies and frames - Photoshop, I would guess - do they need to be originals, or from the May giveaway - or anything goes as long as it is in the palette?

i personally use paint shop pro but everyone uses different graphics programmes here :D

anything goes as long as its in the palette :D

its all just guidelines...the idea is to have fun .....8x10 is a suggestion just to make it harder cos i got a wicked side :eek:

Hey there ladies! I have been out of town and otherwise busy this past month. This is the first scrapping I have done since I got home. Wow, do I have pictures to scrap! Anywho, here is my first attempt for the May challenge.

These are my mother's parents right after they were married. I haven't had too much time yet to play with making any embellishments or papers. This looks like a fun challenge :-)

Dear Friends,

Everyone please, please, include your name or a unique identifier in the template title so your beautiful work does not get overwritten by the next person. If you just say "May Challenge", then it will be overwritten by the next template that says "May Challenge". Also we want to be able to credit people for their work.

Secondly, those of you who use 8.5 X 11 pages can easily change the background on these from 8 X 10 to 8.5 X 11. You can go into the background settings and change the size and say yes when it asks you to change everything.

here are the items from my last layout. The first one is an edge brush. I will have to look up where I got it. It was called Color a Filter Icon Brush. I made the lettering with a Style. I will get back to you on which one later as well. I used a "Plump" font.

when you have made your page and published it go back into
>File

> Export Template - this will bring up a grey box - you dont need to fill any of it except togive the template a name - check the box 'remove photos'

> Press OK

this will create a template page now that you can share

once that is finished you can come on site - in your post where you uploaded your screen shot

> Manage Attachments

> Browse

> go to My Documents

> ScrapbookMax

> Templates ....your template will be in this section under the name you gave it -click on that and upload as you would a screenshot

Ok... I finally finished the challenge (before the deadline) and got a Mother's Day gift done even. My mother-in-law loves the pink color and flowers. So she should like this one. They were also at the Butterfly Garden for this picture. So hope she likes it.

Some of the colors are off a bit from the swatch, but not too far. Background is a bush from my back yard. I faded the picture and used a stipple effect. I used several brushes. A feather brush by Obsidean Dawn, The flowers on the ribbon were by "Confused Equine.deviantart". For the ribbon I used part of a frame shape, but don't remember where I got it. Thanks to whom ever. The other flowers were from the paper, I cut them out.

I added some embies from the layout. I added the ribbon in green too.

Usually scrap 8 x 8 size, so that in itself was a challenge. Also took the Mother's Day theme and reversed it to the person that made me a Mother.
