OK EVERYONE..those of you who have read the Chain of Honor Thread in the forums know
we are trying to do something to let our military fighting in the Middle East, from all countries,
know that we are supporting them..morale is very low now due to all the controversay going on
about the war..now more than ever they need US to let them know we care..one of our members and a chaplin came up with the idea that we could all make a page..then she will download all of them and make a dvd and send it..the chaplin will then play it for the men and women..PLEASE EVERYONE make a page ..we need a lot to send...its the least we can do to show we are
thinking of them...and that we do care about them..it will make you feel good if you do, it did me :) after you post your picture in the gallery, click on the UBB Code button, then come here and paste it..this will put the full size page here and make it easier to download for the DVD.. deadline to post is May 20th..thats just so everyone will have time and we will know we have everyones page..thanks and lets really really show the SBM Family Love...

Jazz this sounds wonderful! Are you planning on putting the actual DVD together? I want to make sure I include my kids in this project!!! Since this is being sent to ACTIVE DUTY who are serving NOW..... Show are project focus on them, rather than the veterans?
Please understand, I am a veteran but I was thinking that this project should focus on those of the current war. Am I wrong here?
Now that I feel dumb........... Apparently my method of posting is different from others. Meaning..... I am not familar with using the USS CODE Button. I have always copied from the address line then paste into the post. I have notice that some post several links or the quote several different people, all in the same post. How do you do that? I can only figure out to put one (1) in each posting. If I try to go copy/paste something else, I lose what I'm working on, when I leave my post window.
Does that make sense? I honestly have no idea how to do what other's are doing and it's even harder trying to explain what I'm trying to do!!!!!

You make perfect sense Onie..first yes its just for the ones serving now..I have tremendous respect for all of our veterans but we are just focusing on the active now..
The USS Code Button is very easy..just click on it..you dont have to copy and paste the address from the address line..once you click on that button it will ask you if you want to add the page to the clipboard..click on yes...thats all you have to do...then come back here open up your thread..type what you want to say and then just click on paste in the window and it posts the addy..when you close the post and open it bk up the page will be posted here just like mine..
As for quoting several people in one post..Im not sure about that either but Ive seen eye and Terry, that I remember, doing it so Im sure one of them will be glad to explain..soo now just get busy turing out some of those beautiful pages of yours...if you have any problems with the UBB Code just let me know..I will try to help...happy scrapping..

Dear Onie and Jazz,
Took me a while to figure out at first and it may not be the easiest way but...
To do multiple quotes - whether you start your post with a quote or not doesn't matter - you can add a quote anyhere, any time. Select the text you want to quote > copy > open or return to your message > place cursor at appropriate spot > paste > THEN ADD...
[QUOTE=person's name]followed by your pasted content - and then closing command of - [/QUOTE/]
TAKE NOTE - DO NOT INCLUDE THE SECOND FORWARD SLASH /. I have had to put that in so that the instructions didn't simply appear as a quote in this message.
I have done exaxctly the same thing again but used the CORRECT ending command with the forward slash in front of the word QUOTE only.
followed by your pasted content - and then closing command of -
The opening and closing commands must be acurate - you know what these computers are like - they never do what you WANT, only what you TELL them. There may be an easier way - don't know!
Hope this is clear enough.
L&R Terry.

Gorgeous pages Jazz and Wonder, i cant wait to see what else everyone can come up with. I am so happy that both Jazz and Terry have taken the time to express their feelings and to bring to fruition what most have always wanted to do. This will help the men and woman serving to realize that they are still supported, despite what they hear and see to the contrary. I could tell you stories and let you in on some of what they face on a daily basis but for now i think those things are better left unsaid. Each soldiers life is different, each job is a challenge and each day is precious!!!! So each mans and womans perspectives will be different as well....
Looking forward to seeing what all these creative and loving minds come up with....

Marion thanks so much for the beautiful page..I understand that everyone's been busy...you know how I am..I forget that people have real lives and do other things..I've just gotten so used to being in and not being able to do anything much around the house...so time is not a problem for me...
If you hit the USS CODE Button under your page after you post it..then click on that little popup about saving to clipboard..then come here and paste that link it will be big when you open it back up..
And thanks again...

I remember when this thread was started that some were concerned because they did not know anyone who was currently serving. We encouraged then to do a poem etc..... Thank you and you did a great job.......... but where the heck are the ones who do have family and love ones that are serving???? I hope others will post layouts with their hero's pictures in them. You can include their family pictures with them, after all,,,,,, the family is also actively involved! So far, I have the only layout with pictures. I would love to see others in here too! We need lots of layouts! I plan to post another one in a couple of days of my nephew, who is leaving for IRAQ in July. My girlfriends son was home on leave and will be leaving to Iraq in about 3 weeks, I'm trying to get a picture of him in Uniform, if not, I will post one of him with in civilian cloths.
Thanks for all you do!

I found out a few days back that my niece is applying to the RAF. She will decide over summer exactly what she wants to do but I know if she chooses the RAF [Royal Air Force] that I will back her 100%. I know my mum will to, she sounded so proud of her granddaughter on the phone.

Okay, you wanted someone who actually has family in the military -- there are several in mine. But the one most especially thought of and prayed for, and closest to me, is my stepson...he is my son, and he calls me "mom." I'm sorry I couldn't add a photo or any details about him for this page because of where he is stationed and what he does. But the words are from my heart to his. This page can be just one of many to all the military sons out there from all of us military moms - who think of them all day, pray for them all day, worry about them all day. Son, we miss you and will be waiting with big hugs and smiles for you when you are back here again! I love you, son! I'm soooooooo proud of what you are doing for all of us here in the USA and around the world! God be with you 'til we see each other again! Dad sends his love and prayers and a huge hug to you, also!! :D

I have just watched the video and like others still have tears in my eyes. I will be posting a LO in a few days but it got me looking on the net for information. I found these pages on the BBC news.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4772729.stm
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3847051.stm
These pages list all the British military who have died either during the war or in operations over in Iraq. I think I'll do a LO and try to include their names. I'll see what I can come up with.

I hope you dont mind I started another thread with it, I think if more people see it, they will realize how important it is to remember the peeps that are fighting to protect us everyday!! and if they dont look in here at least they will see it in the forums.
I must say it brought me back to reality, how I whine about trivial things when in fact there are more worse thing in this world that are happening!
So hopefully it will open up a few peeps mind and do something about it.
I want to say the layouts done so far are TERRIFIC!!! WOW you guys impress the heck out of me! I am certain our troops are going to love this!!!!!

This is a special one...thought all you military folks might like to know one of the veterans who first fought for you, and who is thankful in turn for your efforts to protect our country nowadays. This is My Father, My Hero...he is listed in the "Chain of Honour" thread ( http://www.scrapbookmax.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5218 -- post #40). My Dad is a veteran, having served during WWII, from June 1944 to June 1946; Company E, 41st Armored Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armored Division (most widely and historically known as "Hell On Wheels", see: http://www.2ndarmoredhellonwheels.com/ ); Battle/Campaign: GO 33 WD 45 Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe (France, Belgium, Germany, and Holland), under General Patton; Decorations and Citations include: Bronze Star Medal, Army of Occupation Medal With Germany Clasp, 3 Bronze Service Stars, American Campaign Medal, Eamet Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, and was issued the WWII Victory Medal on December 1, 1947. My father is still living and will be a feisty 82 years old later this year (he's the one who has had two surgeries this year). Several of his siblings also served in the military during their lives. (Thanks, Daddy!) :D

For those who have inquired i am fine. Just really busy now with the troops layouts project, and of course enjoying the wonderful spring weather we have here too. Kevin came down yesterday (for those who arent aware he moved to Denver) so i dont see him that much anymore. He will also be graduating again on sat next week so i am planning on throwing him a small party. So we sat around and chatted and then i spoke to Jazz on the telephone...so all in all it was a blessed day. I'm working on a couple of tribute pages to add to the layouts and kevin was helping me a little with those. He was reading through all the letters and cards my DH received with each one of his deployments and we were figuring out a way to incorporate those into the layouts....Then of course he had to make sure I was eating right so he took me out to a Mothers Day dinner. It was well after midnight by the time he left..
He asked me to say hello to all of you and let you know he still intends to figure out what this scrapping business is all about..(his words not mine) LOL He is getting settled and used to his hours and his new job too..He will be glad when he isnt doing classes as well. said he might actually have time to get a date or two in... It was a wonderfully exhausting day..but I wouldnt trade it for anything!!!!

Jazz, Christinascraps, Onie, Nanwu and Marion.
It was great to see these latest pages added to the list. Each page a testament and, so well done.
Every contributor should feel proud not only of those you have temporarily surrendered to this ghastly conflict but - of yourselves as well.
Marion, I notice on one of your pages that iconic quote from John F. Kennedy - my wife's uncle was the radio voice of the WWII Prime Minister, Winston Churchill (they used a voice double so that the enemy would not know Churchill's actual where-abouts at that particular time during the war) and there is a great quote from him that fit's this project so well (and I use it with respect for it's original meaning and gesture)
"Never was so much done by so few for so many".
KEEP THE PAGES COMING!
Terry.

These are all so nicely done and so meaningful!
A few postings back we were commenting on how life in the military can affect families. Sadly, and with a broken heart, I know of one other family -- my stepson and his wife have separated (they have two sons) and will probably divorce (he thinks she couldn't handle the military life). Basically stunned out of the blue with the news, so not a lot to say.
But keep those pages coming! We have big hearts here at SBM and are behind all the folks in the military!!

I am so sorry about your bad news. I have gone through 2 divorces with 2 of my sons now and the heartache it causes is unmeasurerable! We are lucky to still have access to all the Grandkids. One son has primary custody of his boys and the other one has shared 50/50 custody.
But with divorce every one suffers. So sad. But who knows, they may still work things out. I will say a special prayer for you!

Just wanted you all to know I wont be on line much in the next couple weeks. We have had a tragic accident happen here this week and i am dealing with the fallout.
One of my fur babies was hit in a freak accident and because of the amount of damage they had to completely amputate his hind leg.(they took the entire leg off all the way to the hip) He just got home from the hospital and i am playing mommy and nurse. He requires quite a bit of additional attention now and will till he is strong enough to get around on his own. Right now he is dealing with some serious pain and is fairly well drugged up. I cant leave the room though without him crying and trying to follow. So i am not able to get on here and do much.
I on the other hand seem to be doing ok, i'm tired quite a bit but other then that I am as healthy as can be expected.
I love all the layouts and think with the others from the 3 scrapateers that this is going to be a wonderful, loving and passionate DVD. Well i'll try and keep you up to date on Leos (for those who have seen my kitty layouts Leo is the white tiger) progress if your interested.....take care everyone and happy scrapping!!!!

I am dealing with all the new issues that having a tree legged cat bring. Jealousy among the others, new medical issues and all that. I havent been on line much and I apologize to those who have contacted me concerned, i just havent had anytime to sit on here.
Jazz contacted me and has asked a few questions about the slideshow of the layouts. The kit being put together to help offset the cost of making and distributing this will be available in a few days. It is being sold at 3scrapateers. I am not sure if we can purchase individual dvd's or not, but I will look into it and let you know. We want to have this slideshow ready to send out to those deployed within the middle of july. So plenty of time to keep making layouts if you like...I'll try and keep you better informed on this as information becomes available. Thank you for all the gorgeous layouts and thoughts as well as sharing some of your family with all of us...

Its going great Marion...thanks to all of you we have 39 pages now..and if everyone could make at least 1 more we could have 50 or more..the more we have the longer the slide show and the longer it is the better it will be..
I had sent a pm to Keri Horton at 3Scrapateers about the project and got an email today...the kit will be go on sale Monday at 3Scrapateers..the proceeds from the sale of the kit are going to fund the project and if we need more then 3S is going to pay the rest..I hope as many of us as possible will be able to buy the kit..Keri also said that we will be able to purchase a CD of the slide show..I am tickled about that because I would love to have one..
I think if we could make a few pages for the family members left at home it would make the troops feel like we care about them too..and include any tributes to your fathers or mothers or family members that served in any other war if you would like..Im putting my tribute to my uncles and my dad and Knzus had one too for her dad..Remember we have thru the end of June to get these in..Please read the other post about the troops to find out how to send you pages in...Thanks everyone for your support in this..we have done something to be proud of...you are all great...more news when I hear anything else..we are coordinating this project along with 3scrapateers..those of you who are reading this and havent made a page at all..PLEASE make one..you still have pleanty of time..big hugs to everyone...

I just wanted to let everyone know that i am still around. I am just very very busy. First leo loses his leg and i am kitty sitting him 24/7. Then i get that dreaded phone call saying my DH has been injured in combat. I have been dealing with doctors and red tape bureacracy as well as my own health issues. Not able to fly to Germany to be with him and having to make all the arrangements to make sure he is properly taken care of when he gets home.(sometimes the military isnt as helpful as we'd like them to be) It's almost more than one person can handle. I havent even been able to speak to Kim in almost two weeks now.
I love all the pages that you guys have made and cant wait to see what the final result will be. Please be sure and purchase the RAK kit at 3scrapateers when it becomes avaliable. I had hoped to be more involved then this, but it always seems life gets in the way....please say a few prayers for my DH's recovery and for those of his fellow soldiers also injured.....When I have more consistent information and details I will share them with you. Take care everyone and once more thanks for being there when I need you the most!!!!

My step son was also sent to Germany when he was injured then later sent back home. I'm so sorry! My nephew will be leaving for Iraq the middle of July and son in law shortly too. OHHHH! Shelbz. I have been thinking about you so much lately wondering how you were doing and if your husband would be home soon. Now I hear this and it just saddens me so much. As if you don't already have enough to deal with, I so hope that your husband's injuries are not life threatening, and that he will be able to come home to you soon. You need each other in so many different ways. You are in my prayers daily and will continue to be in them for as long as it takes.

Hi Jazz, I sent you a PM with a link to 4share. There should be 12 pages in there. I don't know that I will have time to make more, but if I do, I will send them to you.
P.S your page looks great!
