American Idole?

Okay, I am dying to know IF anyone out there is keeping up with American Idole!?!?! I had no interests in it UNTIL I went to visit my parents a few weeks ago, in Arizona. I do believe it's contagous because I am not finding myself following the show........ eeks!!!

Oh, Onie! I've watched it every year and am a huge fan - but this year - I don't know! Apparently there's a website that encourages people who don't like the show to vote in great numbers for the worst singer - right now it's Sanjay. He's so bad and yet he keeps staying. I hope they don't ruin the show by doing this - the next target to keep on as long as possible is Haley.

What do you think about LaKisha? Boy, can she belt out a disco song!! Do you have any favorites right now?

I am a super fan of American Idol too!! You are right though-Howard Stern and votefortheworseidol.com (something like that) are ruining the show by having everyone vote for the worse to keep them on, and good singers are getting voted off. If Sanjaya should by some miracle win it, I think that there won't be an American Idol next year. They will lose so many of their viewers because of the voting scandal.
Lakisha has an awesome voice-so does Doolittle. Like Simon said they are in a league of their own. I kind of like Blake too. Some of them have really improved over the time of the show. But it's time for Sanjaya to go home. He has a good voice, but he just doesn't compare to some of the other really talented singers.

I havent been following that closely this year, I keep the show on while I am at the computer and only a few times I have actually looked to see who was singing, so I dont know the names yet! But that kid with the hair Sanja?? GOTTA GO!!!!! Some of them are really good!!! I guess I better start paying more attention to the show! If only I could get away from this computer!!!!!

Although I must say that he sang a little better this week than in prior weeks. I was really bummed to see Sundance go.....even though he had a few "off" performances, I thought he had great potential! I think Stephanie Edwards got a really raw deal - she's so much more of a singer than several that are still hanging on...I mean come on, Haley is beautiful, but she's only an average singer!

LaKisha is from Flint, MI which is only about 2 hours from where I live, so I'm really voting for her - besides the fact that she is such an incredible singer! I really like Gina - she's so different, but not too weird! I think my favorite has to be Jordin - she can REALLY sing and has so much control for her age....Melinda Doolittle has to know that she will be a star no matter what her standings on the show are - she has so much experience in performing - she amazes me every week!

I hope when it comes down to the final few that this rediculous "votefortheworstidol.com" or whatever it is won't affect the proper results - it's so unfair to the truly talented singers that are using this show to get their career started.

I so agree with this - I hope that voting for the worst singer won't ruin a really nice, family-friendly, talk-around-the-water cooler show for everyone. With freedom of speech I'm sure there isn't much the producers can do, but I think they should confront the issue on air and encourage people to really vote for the good singers. That Sanjay is still on and others who can sing are gone is really a shame! [OMG - remember Taylor Hicks and his soul! or Clay Aiken and his choirboy sweet voice!] What if Haley or Sanjay win?!!!

I am thinking that the top 3 will be Jordan, Doolittle and LaKisha. All 3 are fabulous. I also think Chris is a cutie! Once Sanjaya gets off there (HOPEFULLY SOON) it will be interesting as the finalist get closer.

Well, we need to keep this thread going until the end! I also heard that Simon said he would quit if Sanjaya wins. I can see that I need to start voting heavy duty on my top 3. I was planning on waiting until it got down to the last 6 but with Howard Sterns website, those of us who want to see the true winners on top, we got to get into the action.

I agree we have to all start voting for our favs because if we wait it may be too late. Howard Sterns is just a publicity hound and he ruins things just for controversy.
Dolittle and Lakisha will both get contracts regardless of the outcome. I really kind of like Blake and his little beebopping. Jordin is good, and so is Gina. The guys have their work cut out for them. So far it hasn't been as exciting as last year, but a lot of them have improved quite a bit. It's unfortunate that it has come to this and that Simon may quit.

Voting is such a pain on American Idol....why can't they be like Dancing with the Stars and have ON-LINE voting??? I suppose if you wait until closer to the end of the voting thime the phone lines aren't so jammed up. I would probably do this if I could stay awake! My four kids are running me ragged these days and I've had cold on top of cold!

I agree with whoever said Jordin, LaKisha and Melinda will be at the very top...I hope the guys step it up a bit...Blake can really sing but he's been going very safe lately. I was impressed with Phil Stacey's "Every Breath You Take" by the Police - he may have potential! Did you see Chris in the Ford video this past week - the old west?!? He looks GREAT on screen - I hope he stays around - I'd like to see what else he can do. They've all gotten so much better in the past few weeks (with the exception of the few girls who were FANTASTIC at the start!)

It was thumbs up for the same 7. Your right about Haley and Sanjaya! I thought the way Simon avoided saying anything about Sanjaya was funny. I like Phil for some reason but I honestly don't expect him to stay on for more than a couple of weeks. He's been so close to the bottom too. As soon as the get rid of Haley and Sanjaya, things will really get steamy. Chris really did a great job too!

I just can't believe it. This person was so good last night! And this person has been one of my favorites from the beginning because they are so different...I had this feeling last night and I put in TEN votes for this person (it took forever on top of all the others I wanted to vote for!) And it didn't even help. I was very upset just seeing the look on this person's face when they had to sing the final song! Haley and Sanjaya have got to feel guilty about it - I would!! I hate to think that someone like Howard Stern could campayne and off set what should be the true winners. I just hope he doesn't get Sanjaya to the finals. It's not fair to the truly talented ones on the show. I will be pleased if any one of the three girls make it all the way. I am more particle to Jordan then Doolittle with Lakisha in 3'rd. I belive Chris and Brett should be 4 & 5.

I was reading online that there is a strategy to get Sanjaya dropped off! It says to vote for your pick then pick one of the other remaining, leaving out Sanjaya! They actually have the states divided up with who the other person is that you need to vote for.... I problem is, Texas needs to vote for Hilary........... YUCK!!!!

So, what did ya all think about tonights show? I have to admit it did not go the way I expected. And I really hate to admit it but I believe Sanjaya had his best performance yet. I believe the Latin theme was hard for all of them! I was real impressed with Brett and Chris both.

So, who do you think will go tomorrow? I am thinking Haley or Phil. Personally I hope it's Haley. Simon was so funny about talking about her lack of clothing being her stratage because it wasn't her voice that was keeping her on the show.

I saw her in concert in Vegas, right after she opened up there......... WOW what a show! I paid $150 American dollars to see that show. The show was unbelievable! Gorgous!

I understand that her dressing room at Cesears Palace is a small duplicated model of her real house. Everything is duplicated to the furnature, wall decorations, bathrooms etc. It is a small house. The reason for this is because her baby is with her all the time and this way the baby will always be familar with the surroundings. Never in a strange place! Great thinking. I think her small version is bigger than most of our real homes, like several thousand square feet.

As for next week, I am a dye hart Country Western buff! Martina McBride is one of my favorites. Of course, my daughter sang her song, "VALENTINE" to her husband in their wedding. Not a dry eye in the place!!!

BTW, I heard a rummor that Terry was a farmer. He used to raise cattle for market and also milked cows for milk and butter. I was going to mention it because I noticed the old farm at the end of Country Road Drive was for sell. Do we know if he has a Real Estate person to work with yet? The farm might be right up his alley. :p

The Grill is RED HOT, got to go get the tables ready. I want to get settled before our dear Sanjaya makes his appearance in his cowboy boots.

I was impressed with Phil tonight too! Jordin was incredible - she just AMAZES me. She will be a big star no matter what. Melinda was smokin' tonight - don't you think??? And I just loved what Simon said - to stop with the "oh my goodness, you think I can sing??" reaction. I'm with him 100% on that one!

I haven't been checking in as often as I'd like to - but you are so right, Steve! As soon as I heard what he was singing, I was upset. I have loved that song by Bonnie Rait - he has such a delicate, girly voice - it was totally awful!! Yikes! My husband got up and left the room - he couldn't even listen!

It is predicted that Chris will be the one to go tonight! :( I honestly stacked up votes for him last night because every vote for Chris will cancel out a vote for Sanjaya.

I feel sorry for Sanjaya and don't understand how his parents and those who love him are not trying to protect him. Everyone knows he's being made a joke of. It's not the kids fault he's being made a fool of! The local radio station here in EL Paso have been reporting on how rude people have been toward Sanjaya in public. If I had been him, I would of run away and cried after what happened after he performed. I think Simon could have been nicer to him, after all, it's not the kids fault that he's being made a fool of.

I'm so glad he's gone..... Not just because the fear that someone undeserving would win BUT I was mainly felling bad that he was being made a fool of and laughed at. He's just 17 yrs old and it's not fair that he's been talked about so badly.

Honestly, this boy is really a cute innocent boy that had no idea that he was being taken for advantage of by people like Harold Stern.

I am glad that we will see an honest true ending of the Season.

I agree with you Onie to a certain extent..I think he had to have known what was being said about him and Im sure some of it did hurt him.. he added fuel to the fire by his hairdos and other things...but one thing is for sure just about everyone knows his name and who he is..and I imagine he will benefit from his Idol experience in some way...we will hear more from him somewhere down the line..I think he is going to be on Fox News Station on their early morn show Friday morn..someday Howard Stern will get his just rewards for all the hurt he has caused thru the years..

WOW was tonight ever spectacular with all of the major performances! I'm so glad I was home to watch the whole thing! The two group numbers were so so very good - it will be sad to see anyone go home! I'm starting to like them all! Jordin is becoming my favorite - her performance Monday night was amazing. I really thought they all did GREAT considering Bon Jovi songs can't be that easy to sing! Jordin and Chris did the the best they could have since it wasn't really their style of music!! I really liked her rocker look!

When the season started I figured it would be between Melinda and Lakisha but thats changed I think Lakisha has gotten worse instead of better. For some reason, our computers are running slow for the past few days. We have 2 connected to cable. My SBM keeps freezing up too! Grrrrrrrrrrr!

As for the IDOLS. I figured one of them would go too! Just wasn't sure who. I'm like most of your, I like them all! I am going to pull for Jordin all the way! I lived in Phoenix area and most of my family are there, so I will go with the home town girl.

Yes, they're all good but I do believe it will be the 2 girls. It's been obvious for weeks that Simon's choice is Melinda. He's been saying every week something about Jordin's age! Both girls are excellent! So it is down to the final week and tomorrow, someone will go home.

The last song was an unfair pick. No matter who you like better you all have to agree that song was picked for Jordin and not for Blake's style of singing. Even Simon said that he has to be judged on the first two songs and not the third one. They said whoever wins will be releasing that third song as their first release. But it is not Blake's style and it won't sell much for him--whereas it is Jordin's style and she will sell lots of copies of that song. I think they should have had a song that they could both equally sing or gave them separate songs. Either way they both did an awesome job and now it just depends on who has more fans. I am so excited to see tonight's show!! It's going to be awesome!!! I have dvr so I will be recording it so that I can transfer it to dvd to watch whenever I want. I taped last years finale too and every once in a while I pop it in to watch. One of my favorite parts of that one is when that clay wannabe was singing and clay came out on stage to sing. That was priceless. :)

Wow it was good. Started out a little slow but after about 15 min. it was perfect. They both will go places. I liked Jordan as well but had a fancy for Blake but that is okay as he never lost Either.Well Now I have to wait till Jan for the next show. But in the meantime Canadian Idol is around the bend in June.We have a Simon sort of in our judges.It will pacify me till Jan.:D I will miss teasing yha Onie.:)

We need to CONGRATS to Steve........ Jordin is a from his area. I'm sure she will be getting a BIG welcome home to the Phoenix/Glendale area!

I know my family in Phoenix were real excited. The funny thing was that I got a Phone call from my 12 yr old nephew at 8:45 (Phoenix time) to ask me WHO WON. I'm an hour ahead of them so I knew before they did! Of course, I wouldn't tell! HeHeHe

It truly was a great season and I will be looking forward to seeing where they all go from here. The said Chris (#4) had already gotten some big deal but I didn't get the details. Seeing the top 12 perform was incrediable!

I was happy to see that Jordin won... It was pretty crazy around the Westgate Mall near the new stadium in Glendale. They had it on the local news for an hour afterwards.

There's a new show called "On The Lot" about potential filmamkers that look interesting... That'll get me though the summer.
