Didn't think of that Steve. I remember when I was in, no flowers or anything. In fact I don't think I had cards in there, only when I went into the 'normal' ward.

I may not know Mary, but I might have seen some of her works, being here in a very friendly and caring environment, makes you care for the person you never even met. I will include Mary in my prayers that God will take care of all her needs, health, safety, and recovery. Hope God will comfort the whole family during this difficult time.

Mary Ann is stable, in as much as she didn't get worse, which in this case is very good. She is still in her medically-induced coma. I misunderstood her husband the night I first spoke with him, probably b/c of how shook up I was, but I got it wrong...Mary Ann doesn't have systemic shock, she has sepsis shock.
All the specialists have gone over her with a fine-toothed comb and are baffled as to what the source of the infection is.
Larry said her doctor told him that in his years of practice in infectious diseases, he's only seen two other cases this baffling. I told Larry that we KNEW she was one in a million.
Mary Ann is holding her own. Will update when I hear anything more.

I'm so glad to hear a bit more positive news about Mary Ann. I dont want to hijack this thread but just want to say that I had a similar experience where I was a mystery where only one other person in the world had suffered what I had. It affected my blood amongst other things. I am now in medical journals (what a way to claim fame!) What I am trying to say is that I'm here thanks to the wonders of the medical profession and I am also certain that a lot of it was to do with the support of loads of people as well as them, many I didn't know, my Mum had her church praying, the local churches prayed for me. I was very lucky. Therefore Mary Ann has us all praying here at SBM and many more besides and I am certain that that strength will have a great effect on her progress.
It is comforting that we have Arlene to keep us updated.

Just popping in to see if there is any news. I've had to work the past two days covering for a girl who had surgery. No news is good news I pray. I pray for her each day. God is holding her while she sleeps and she will be back with us soon. Steve---since the weather is so nice in the Bahamas (LOL) send some of that weather back to old central PA----we are supposed to get more snow tomorrow. Hurry and get well Mary Ann.

Wonderful new, everyone! Mary Ann has turned the corner and has passed the crisis. All of your prayers have been heard.
Mary Ann has been taken off the induced-coma medicine, but is still trying to come out from under. She is responding to her family with nods. She hasn't opened her eyes yet, but they were salved and gauzed while she was under so it's taking a little time. She is still on the respirator, but they are weaning her off of that. They've reduced the amount of antibiotics and are giving her a prophilaxis now.
Mary Ann may be in a regular room by the weekend! You know where I'll be. :)
Mary Ann will still have a long recovery. She will have to go to a rehabilitation center for a time, for atrophied muscles and such.
This was the best news and the biggest relief we could have received tonight.

I am in awe of the power of prayer...and shocked that I was feeling sorry for myself for losing graphics while...without my realizing anything was wrong...we almost lost a dear, dear friend.

I actually never came to this area...don't even know where I am now...accidentally found a thread here. I guess I should be grateful that I didn't know May Ann was so sick...and didn't feel the devastation you all did...I am so thrilled to know she is doing well. Mary Ann has all the tubes and ventilator out. They left one IV shunt in just incase she would need it as she had a fever Friday morning. Her first question to Larry was, "What happened to me?" She remembered the lifeflight to the hospital and that's about it. She was, of course, astounded how long she was out.
Yesterday she was given liquids and she was to start soft foods today.
Larry did say that she got all the e-cards. He said the stack is 2" thick! He's been reading them to her.

My husband and I are going to see her tomorrow. Will give her your love.

Mary Ann has all the tubes and ventilator out. They left one IV shunt in just incase she would need it as she had a fever Friday morning. Her first question to Larry was, "What happened to me?" She remembered the lifeflight to the hospital and that's about it. She was, of course, astounded how long she was out.
Yesterday she was given liquids and she was to start soft foods today.
Larry did say that she got all the e-cards. He said the stack is 2" thick! He's been reading them to her.

My husband and I are going to see her tomorrow. Will give her your love.

Is that darn bakery open for business yet? We need a hughe cake. Who's going to organize the catering? And then.... Oh, my work, I'm exausted already....

Mary Ann is still in the same hospital. Haven't gotten to talk to her this week. Seems every time I call, she's out for a test or a doctor is in the room. I don't have news of a discharge date, or what her status is, currently. I'll let you know when I know something. Sorry I've been silent, but I've had no news.

Isn't that always the way Arlene, patients watch the clock waiting for visitors and then as soon as they arrive they are whisked off for ultrasounds,scans, xrays etc. The poor visitors have had a long journey and it's hello, goodbye! I know it can't be helped but it is such a shame for all concerned.

Thanks for the update Arlene!! Hospital stays do s***!!! At least she is on the road to recovery! I am sure it will be a little while longer before she gets out, especially if she was running a fever, I know when I was going thru that, that they make you wait 36 hours after a fever to even start comtemplating whether or not to release you. I am sure she is getting the best care where she is at! And all my prayers are with her and her family!

Hi Gang.... Just talked to Mary Ann for about 2 seconds. She is very weak, but told me she loves us all very, very, very, much. That's all she could say. Her husband says she is doing better. Long recovery process.

Can't tell you how wonderful it was to hear her voice. I did not keep them long cause I know how exausted she must be, and her husband said she really can't talk, but I did get to tell her her how much we all miss her.

I know you would all want to hear.
