This is of my best friends ancestors. The gentleman reading is his great granddad. Family tales say that the only book he ever read was the Bible.

Retro to me meant pull out the old black and whites. Many are yellowed with age. Was able to get these semi-clear.

Shades anyone?

I just had to do it, I put a foil effect on my daughters pictures and it kinda carried on from there. Had so much fun doing this.

Did my version of "retro".. the old paisley print and stripes.. remember my mom dressing me in those in the 70's.. before bell bottoms..hahaha.
This is of my friend Tracy who just got engaged to Gerard who is in Iraq at the moment... I am helping her with her invites etc and got excited when I saw this freebee pack as these were the exact colours she chose.. had to put their photo with it!!! I tinted it with sepia to age it as I don't have any old black and whites.. need to raid my dad's house soon..hahahaha.
Hope you enjoy
Love

Thought I would try a more subtle LO too.:D

I decided to do a LO based on who my daughter is named after. I loved the name Amelia as soon as Tom mentioned it. My 1st thought was Amelia Earhart. If Amy has half the adventure, half the courage and half the determination that she had then Amy will go far. I based the style on Art Deco, that being the in thing while Amelia Earhart was alive.

I love all the templates and creativity I've seen with the RETRO theme so far..Brought me back to thoughts of what I was doing back in the sixties and what was I thinking. Since my 2 year anniversary is coming up March 17..St.Patrick's Day for my successful Lasik eye surgery I did my theme around that. All my childhood photos were lost when I moved from Hawaii to the states in 1985. So I had the one in the photo that I took my glasses off for the picture taking found with a small bundle of photos my Nana had of us growing up..YEAH..I learned alot trying to do this template!!

 I got a PM from Grannywin today and somehow my contest entry got overwritten and deleted and is nowhere to be found. All the comments are still there but the picture is gone. How is that possible that we can overwrite in the gallery and delete someone elses entrys. It is even gone out of my private albums. I didn't think that should be possible!
Can you figure out what is going on?

03-14-2007, 10:30 PM
Marion, we gotta find that layout missing..Your legs were the talk of the town. Perhaps someone..scraplifted it..I'm checking my file folder to see..GOOD LUCK finding it..You don't have a replacement picture???? That would be TRAGIC!!!!
Sounds weird that it got over written like that..I'm sorry for you!!! Very frustrating!!!

Hi Marion,

I realize I may be jumping in late in the discussion here, but I can see your layout in the contest gallery just fine. Can you? Did you re-upload it? Or were you able to figure out what went wrong?

Please give me an update so we can work out any possible problems...

Hey Marion - yes, Desmond is the greatest!

As for being "punny" - I've been told to avoid making puns that are in fact two-thirds of a "pun" (...P.U.:p ). I've also been threatened with "pun"ishment and the "pun"itentiary, but that's a different story...

P.S. Great retro layouts everyone! It's tons of fun to check the gallery every day!

Well eventually I have a LO that I would say is "Retro".. I battled with inspiration for this challenge.. Crop's I was a bit like you on this one (quoting an earlier thread of yours).. I just couldn't get my head around it.. but I received the "latest" photo of my nieces from Australia yesterday and it was a God send.. Their dresses that they are wearing are what I wore in the 70's.. LOL, bright, frilly and oh sooo retro! I HATED them ( worse than the brown cords)..hahahahaha! So I say "THANK YOU GIRLS"..
Hope you enjoy the "flashback".. might need sun glasses tho..LOL

This is a layout a did a little while ago. I chose it for the Retro contest because of the colors. These are all the colors from the 60's & 70's that I didn't care for then and still don't today. (I do like how this layout turned out though).

Well, here it is! My first submission to the site and my retro contest entry. I had a lot of fun with the retro theme. I took my inspiration from the work of Andy Warhol who started the Pop Art craze. That is what all the crazy colors are about and I added a scrap booking twist to it. The pictures are of my daughter wearing a poodle skirt outfit though that gets a little lost in all the color but I had a lot of fun doing this page anyway and I am pretty happy with the turn out. As long as you don't look at it too long you shouldn't go blind :)

Hello Everyone! :)

We're lovin' the groovy and old-fashioned layouts you've been posting! Just a friendly reminder that the contest ends March 28 at midnight (CST) - that's tonight!!! So if you have some last minute retro inspirations, now's the time to post them in the contest (http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1624)!

(See the first post in this thread for full details!)

Stay groovy!

Two more layouts. I received a copy of "The persuaders" in the mail yesterday and got inspiration from the dvd artwork and the program. I found my kiddy photos and got started. This is my 1st attempt at a LO with so many pics. After I made the title for the 1st layout I had to make a 2nd so I could put the lyrics to "Those were the days" on it. So many memories.

I have discovered that if I want to do journaling I can't put too many pics on one page :D
I hope you enjoy
P.S. Wasn't my hair red when I was kid? A real copper top.
