March Challenge

Your March Challenge:

Use the kit from Nana C to:

Make 8 by 8 layouts
Make 4 by 6 layouts
Make coordinating embellishments

....... Use the kit and new embellishments to come up with something to use for easter. Some craft type thingie. A tag to hang on an Easter Basket? An Easer Card? Egg Holders to display Easter Eggs? Candy Boxes for Jellybeans?

BE CREATIVE!!

Which frame are you talking about in the march challenge kit or in the templates I shared for easter? If you are talking about the templates I tend to lock elements because i get click happy and move them after i placed. unlock right click select unlock and then delete what you want or manipulate anyway you want too.. Hope that helps

Gotart...I'm SOO EXCITED for your WINNING LAYOUT!!! SISTERS...YES!!!

To answer your question on the template...Unless the template was created as jpg and imported and then .smt..any .smt made in SBM is typically click on any of the items to remove/delete them and rearrange the page any way you like in most cases..Some folks import certain parts of their designs..BUT typically, you can remove anything and rearrange a template to suit your needs..One of the things I really enjoy about SBM!!

Wow---you guys have been busy. I spent all day learning how to make a ribbon on Photoshop. I had 4 pages of replies to this thread to read. I think we are going to surpass February easily. Here is the ribbon I eventually made. It took forever it seemed. I can't imagine how much time you all put into making all these things. How do you do it! Onie if you did them in the same as the first one all the templates should be with your file when you export it. all the pages in that one. Hope that helps.

It will only do one screen shot. What I do is publish to my pictures the template and then it does all the pages. Hope that helps. Then I go to manage attachment and upload them. Its alittle more work to click but doesnt take them long to upload.

Ok guys, here is page 3. I know I am rushing it, but the weather is crap, therefore I scrap! It is a good way to go through some older pictures on my computer and get them scrapped.
I used a solid background color and mat color, then applied a shape and the bunny was a free tube I found on the internet. The vellum was compliments of Nicole Norcutt.
These colors are a lot of fun to work with

I was working on these for the store but decided to give them away for the march Challenge instead.

This is a set of 20 stitched doodles - Should install to your embellishment folder.

They work best used large - When you size them down, they lose some of the stitching effect. They're all white but you can recolor them, I think!

I had the same problem! but when i export the second page, i export the pages separtly one by one ,t exports me again the first page, then if i change the name of the page the same thing, until now i dont know why!!! i cant export an entire album of 2 or more pages.

what i'm doing is, moving the page i want to share to first possition, for example i want to export the 3rd page, so i move it to up to the first, and then i export it and i got it! but always exports just one page, the fist one of the album

The template is all in one piece. You won't be able to move anything around because I didn't do it within SBM. But I loaded the pieces separately so you can use them as you wish. I also loaded the paper without the hole cut out.

I have even tried to do a get well layout with the challenge swatches but the bright colors just don't feel right.

You're right Onie...Ive been working on a layout for 3 days and just cant get it worked out..but you know what...Mary Ann would NOT want us to be this way...she used the computer and scrapbooking and designing to get her thru the death of her son...so she would tell us to create, create, keep the good stuff coming..and she would be bragging on all of us..I know she would tell us to pray for her and her family and then to get back to scrapbooking and she would be sending us all "Big Much Love"
Soo lets all try to get out of this funk and start making lots of pages..between reading all her cards and get well posts..and looking at all the new pages that should keep her pretty busy while she is recovering at home...heres another thing I just thought of..she always loves it when someone "scraplifts" one of her LO's..said it makes her feel good when we like something she did and want to copy it..so we can do that..maybe start a new thread like the get well cards we are making and put them all in one place for her to look at..
these are my thoughts ..tell me what you think and if anyone else has any ideas let us know about them..(((HUGGS))) and love to all.... :)

I like others cant seem to get my head around ideas for anything at the moment but while I was making Mary Ann's Get Well LO I thought of the inspiration she has given me. So for this easter challenge I'm combining Easter and Mary Ann and I'm sure I'll be able to come up with a few LOs or elements for us all over the next few days.

The black and white tiles you see with the paper bundle are SHAPES..In order to get the little SHAPES from them (like Punches in traditional scrapping) you RIGHT CLICK the image..SAVE TARGET AS and drop into your SHAPES folder in SBM..We have to direct them there. They don't have nice ext. on them to send them to shapes automatically. Then you can use them the next time you want to work on a layout and put a colorful flower on your template. Choose your paper scrap and then CUSTOM SHAPE it.

Not to confuse these with the MASK LAYOUTS. The masking has already been done for you. What the gray images are doing is just sitting there on the page to give you ideas of how to fill the pages with more colorful fun. With those, you don't have to bother with lining everything up so so ..it is done for you already. If you have the PSP program (Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photo shop) then you can use the jpg pictures of the mask layouts just using your magic wand tool and then FILL with pattern or color or gradient. The Jpg images will not work in SBM like that. Jpg's don't have layers to play with. What you see is strictly what you get with a jpg flattened image in SBM. Simply, ALL SBM TEMPLATES act like MASK LAYERS..it's just so easy we fail to realize that sometimes.

That's what I did last year and will probably do the same this year. Have a template set up for Microsoft Publisher for cards that I make. Have not been using SBM for cards, except for the Christmas money cards from here.

Well gang, Ive tried my hand at making some papers and some easter eggs for the Challenge..some of them I like some NOT..hope you can use some or all of them..there are about 6 or 7 papers and 9 eggs...I zipped them up because some have been having problems with the sbm files..just unzip them to a folder and drag and drop the papers in your LO as paper and the eggs as embies..they are png files..

Wow, I haven't had that much trouble re-sizing since January. But I finally got it. For newbies right click on thumbnails then save to a file of your choice. I have a couple of more, will have to put those in separate post.
The eggs were Mary's. I altered the color within SBM. The bunnies were from a shape. There are two different "easter grasses" I used two of each. One set in front of the eggs, the other behind the eggs. I also used two of the "Chains/springs" what ever you want to call them. I made them using the letter "O". I used a lot of different effects and lost track of what I used.

Yea, that one is a little on the wild side. I was playing with effects and came up with it. I have so much fun playing, not everything comes out the way I would like though. Been having a little bit of a block when it comes to layouts lately, so I play around with the effects.

It leaves a little bit of a line at the bottom edge of where the original paper was. I redid it several time and it did the same thing. Don't know if I missed a step or not. But with the other elements I used you can't see it. Just thought I would let you know that before you go to use it and then notice the line. Sorry about that. Hopefully I will get better at making shapes. The shape has to be lined up just right because of the way the frame is shaped.

If you are doing a layout where you can't cover the line up and have a program that does transparencies, you could attach the fram to paper then use the magic wand and remove the center that way. Just a thought.

Ok, here is an attempt at a project for the challenge. I made some textured tags to cut out. I added the little embie I made for it. I also made some words that you can add to the tags before cutting them out if you wish. The words included are: Happy Easter, Best wishes, Happy Anniversary, Happy Birthday and Congratulations. I think that's it. I used BrockScript for the words.

Julie, I haven't done a two page template (together), but when you browse for the template do you change the view to Thumbnail so you can see the screenshot. That way you would know which one you were grabbing. If the correct screen shot is the second one, the the correct template would also be the second one (with that name). I would think anyway. Could be wrong.

This is going to drive me crazy - - - :eek: I don't know if this downloaded correctly - it should be the template with the twins that says Spring Fever. I couldn't find a screen shot for it! Ugh! Julie, I have sometimes found mine under other thumbnails. It may be under one of the page 1 thumbnails. Did you try going to the templates just through "My Documents, SBM then Templates" and open each of them to see if the #2 is under one of the #1's. I try to remember to delete my templates first, If I have to re-do them so I don't get multiple copies. But sometimes I forget and I have found my templates under some other name. I think It sometmes happens if you get too many templates exported w/o actually loading them in SBM. But I'm not a techie so not sure about that.

And just a quick reminder to the newer people who are making such beautiful templates, please remember to include your name or something unique in the template name. If you name it something generic like March Template it will be overwritten by the next person who says March Template. If you call it March Template Norma Jean, then we will be less likely to overwrite it, and I don't want to lose a single one of these great layouts. These challenges have really sparked people's creativity..

Got busy making some goodies for the challenge and finally figured out what I'm going to do for the challenge..That will take some time to do..I'll get cracking tomorrow!! But in the mean time..LOVED Sacannon's beautiful brads and Knzus beautiful diamond gems..and made some flowers up that look so good with those as centers..Made some WEIRD..Papers again..thinking maybe it is RETRO for help to you with the CONTEST for MARCH.. Hope you can use...Put them all in embellishment packer..

Newbies: simply click on blue link..OPEN and it will deposit the goods "free of charge" right into your embellishment folder..Then you can go "fishing" for them and move the papers to your paper scraps and the embies to you MARCH MADNESS challenge folder..if you like!! OMG! Marion that page is awsome. I don't know how to use masks yet-but I just ordered and received today an awesome tutorial for doing scrapping in elements! I found this site where they teach you the basics of scrapbooking and other wonderful techniques in elements. I think I may be on the way to learning how to create some neat things in elements!

I was playing around with a shape today and came up with this one..I dont think I like it but I spent so much time making the buttons..I decided to post it anyway..Im attaching buttons and bows and the shape..hope you can use them...

This is my Great Niece Kari. She had a "Little House on the Prairie" Birthday Party when she was around 7. My niece made the outfit for her.

I used Redfield's Lattice effects on the Purple paper and the basket. I used Baltic Sea Glass effect on one egg from Adobe exchange and Fire OPal (Don't remember where I got it) on the other egg. On the background Purple paper, I used one of Rosana's shapes/masks over top of it.
