February Challenge!

I found some colouring pages on the web and thought they would make some cool embies to go with this colour scheme, also thought they would go well with the bath time layout. 1st time using the embie packer so let me know if it all went pear shaped.

I changed the name of the original template on my pc so this one wouldn't over right it.

Hummmmmm I have noticed in the past that some of the templetes that I've downloaded also lost a lot of the goodies....... Is that because the designer put that check in the box? I am going to resend a link with the checks removed.

If designers put emblies in as photos I believe they do disappear if that remove photo thingy is checked. Just not sure why it didn't take the pic of Amy out.

If you just want to take the picture out of the layout, instead of putting the checkmark in the remove picture thingy, you can just right click on the picture and hit "clear image" and it will remove only that picture and leave a gray box as a place marker for your picture. It also seems to make the template smaller that way.

Onie the stuff is still missing. Do you bring everything in as a picture? If so that is why your file size is so big and they disappear when you export the template with the remove pictures box checked. I really love these templates. They are so nice.

Onie, be sure and bring your embies in as embies and the papers as paper scraps. The only thing that should be brought in as a photo is the actual pictures you are using.

Onie, it looks like everything is in the template ....... A very beautiful template if I may say so ... there is an M missing out of Remember though *winces and ducks behind the chair* .... easily remedied by duplicating the M but thought you might like to know. :D

Onie, I drag and drop, too. When you drag your embie into the page, a little box comes up asking you how you want to use it. By default the photo option is selected. You need to check either embie or paper scrap. Otherwise your layout if filled with pics that should be embies or paper. It makes the file big and stuff disappears when you export it.

There's simple way to take your photos out before you even export!! That way you can export WITHOUT checking the "remove photos" box.

When you're done with your page, save it under a NEW name - the one you want to use for your template. Then, RIGHT mouse click on the photos you want to turn into gray boxes and choose "CLEAR IMAGE". Now your photos are turned into the gray boxes that say "Click here to insert photo" or whatever it says!

When you do it this way, all of the things you dragged and dropped in will STAY IN YOUR TEMPLATE!!!!

The leaf line is from Gentile Spirit I used grayscale on it to make it blend with the layout. I made the scroll Embies with a brush from Obsidean Dawn, I also used it on the frame. The paper I used for the journaling was in the kit.

The paper I made and had used it in a previous template with this same friend but I included it in with the embies in case some one missed it.

You guys are all ROCKIN the town..WHERE are we going to be able to put all these!! YEAH..GET another external drive I believe!! USed some of sacannon's beautiful brads for this template and several of Julie Clark's shapes as well as Angelwithin's shape for the bow!! I made two SHAPES for ya to play with..
One I used to make the several background layers..and the other for cut thread look on the buttons. So remember to put them in your shapes folders.

WOW...being in here today makes me feel like a kid in a candy store...except you dont have to chose you can just grab it all!!!! I am so excited by all this.. I knew we had a lot of talent but mercy ya'll have outdone yourselves...everything is just BEAUTIFUL..love it all..so thanks to EVERYONE..
I wanted to give something back to all ya'll so I made some word art and a few little emblishments..they don't have anything to do with the Monthly Challenge but haven't seen any word art so thought I would do that..all of it has a love, valentine theme so hope you can use it..

JAZZ, I told you that I loved them! Thank you to sending me the embies as a zip file.

I still have no idea WHY but I can not use ANY of the .smb files. It breaks my heart because I see all the little snapshoots of goodies being make by the group here, yet I can not get them to launch into a file formate that can be read. I keep getting messages that state the .smb files can not be recognized. I am still searching to find the problem. I have an idea..... I down loaded a trial version of ICDSee Photo Manager and decided not to keep it so I deleted it. Now it seems that the photo manager keeps attempting to open up, so I need to figure out how to get rid of all it's files. I still get pop ups asking me to buy the software.

If anyone has any ideas on the problem..... Please send them my way because I'm at the point that I may back up all my doc files and whip out the hard drive.

I was so busy cropping out the letters, even thought something looked funny about the word, but honestly could not see it. I even had my son and his friends here and they didn't even noticed the missing "M" Well, I have fixed my templete so if anyone wants me to fix and repost..... I will! I was pretty easy to just add the M.

I am glad you liked my layout! I've really had fun with this type of challenges. I think these challenges are the BEST because everyone is getting into it! Everyone creating and making templetes & embies then posting them are incrediable! Makes you want to keep creating more and more pages!!! I know I'm not the only one that has created multiple pages.

Onie, Have you tried a system restore yet?? If you can remember the last time everything worked, you can set your computer to go back to that time and that should put everything in order for you. Whenever I have a problem, that is what I do.

As far as the old software that keeps popping up, Did you delete the program through your controp panel? As far as the ads popping up, you may have to use a spyware remover to get rid of that.

Let me know if any of this has been tried or if it works.

ONIE....this might work..go into windows explorer to your program files and find the ACDSee file folder and delete it..its probably still there with things you dont need since you have already uninstalled it but that are making it send you msg.. not safe to delete program files if you havent properly uninstalled them...then reboot the computer and see if that helps..Ive had some problems in the past like that with trial versions and it worked for me..

I had not checked this thread at all, cause I felt I did not have time or inclination to work on the challange this month. But I have been feeling better, so just now I desided to look at it. Well, an hour ago, it's taken me that long just to skim the posts.

This is realy incredible. What an awesome idea! And the stuff you have all made! What a marvelous way to get every one to create and share. I'm really impressed. We are overflowing with talent here!!!!

I am in the process of making sure I have everything backed up before doing a system restore.

I know something I've lost!!!!! Don't remember what thread it came from.... I had some SHAPES of ALPHA'S that date back months ago. One of the men (I'm sorry which guy) started doing the letters (L.O.V.E) in a templete, which I also did. Then someone in here did the rest of the alpha. Does that ring a bell????? WHO ever or WHERE ever those came from........ I would like to get them back. These are the ORIGINAL LETTERS that were done in the shapes! :eek:

Onie, Have you tried a system restore yet?? If you can remember the last time everything worked, you can set your computer to go back to that time and that should put everything in order for you. Whenever I have a problem, that is what I do.

I am in the process of making sure I have everything backed up before doing a system restore.

I know something I've lost!!!!! Don't remember what thread it came from.... I had some SHAPES of ALPHA'S that date back months ago. One of the men (I'm sorry which guy) started doing the letters (L.O.V.E) in a templete, which I also did. Then someone in here did the rest of the alpha. Does that ring a bell????? WHO ever or WHERE ever those came from........ I would like to get them back. These are the ORIGINAL LETTERS that were done in the shapes! :eek:

I am really getting ticked off here.......... I am trying to "System Restore" and every date I have put in,,,,,, will not work! I've stopped at Jan 7th. These problems do not go back that far and I do not know why it wont accept the dates............ Does anyone know why this is happening?

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble Onie.

I would suggest doing a virus scan. If the system restores are not working it sounds pretty serious. I had something on my pc that was slowly eating away at my registry, so much so that I was unable to do a windows update because windows was unable to validate my copy of XP. I was unable to load fonts etc. In the end I had to do a restore to factory settings to get rid of what ever was causing the problems. Luckily I lost no data [such as word documents/pictures/mp3s etc] just some drivers and executables that I was able to reload.

Onie--sorry to hear of your troubles. There is nothing more frustrating than a computer that is not working correctly. I'm sorry that I can't be of much help. I run adaware (free software) at least 3 times a week to keep the junk off my computer. It seems if you download freebie kits from other places they come with some junk. As my husband always says-----nothing is free!

I know I sound like a broken record here......... I did a defrag last night and doing a full virus scan right now. I noticed on the report of my Norton Antivirus that the last FULL Scan was Jan 19th, which was about the time problems started. I had my Scan Set to do a weekly scan, so don't know why it was longer, but wonder if I turned it off in error. It really is frustrating because I've tried to do a system restore, as far back as Jan 1. :o

Well I will be back with you all, just as soon as I figure out what the heck is going on. Some how I'm wondering if I got a virus somewhere :(

Onie, here is a short term solution for your .smb files. When saving them. Do not say "open" instead right click on the item and "save as" after the name of the file put .zip then download it manually and it will save it as a zipfile. Open your zipfile and all your embies will be in that folder as a jpg or png. That way you can still work with all the files and have some fun

I've been able to open/use all the .smt files it was only the .smb files that were not working. I remembered something...... When I did the last full scan of my computer, I had found a Trojan but I removed (I THINK). I'm wondering if some part of it stayed around. I'm still doing a full scan on my computer. Maybe something will work. I started getting some goofy errer messages last night, so I'm sure this problem is all related.

Granny..I will overnight you some time on Monday..I seem to have pleanty of it lately..cant do much but sit in front of the computer for awhile at a time..LOL..anyway Ive ordered me and you a rocker for the town square I told the delivery people to put them under that biggest shade tree..close to the watering hole so we can hobble over and get a drink if we get thirsty..they have nice big thick cushions on the seat and back so we should be comfy..I have only made one page for this months challenge..I dont do so well on small ones and 4x6 is small to me..LOL..Dr Marion and a few others just keep on turning out these beautiful ones for the challenge..

Just to let you know that I am taking your advise and getting rid of NORTON. Also, I had to restore my system, so I've been busy getting everything re-installed. It looks good so far and things are running faster. It's been a frustrating experience! Then, my SBM files that installed when I re installed SBM were hidden..... I had to do a search to find them! Now I have thing back in place. I still have a few more other programs to re-install.

I run adaware. It is very easy to run. I run it at least 3 times a week if I'm downloading a bunch of freebies. I end up deleting 20 to 30 items each time it runs. Here is a link to their site.

We have the "FLU" around my house for weeks now..It done "got me"..Feeling a little better today..so I played!! He was so special..I couldn't raise my voice to the kids in anger without Max BARKING at me..so he used to humor me into being more patient with the kids!! I blamed myself for his death..I let him eat the kids scraps they dropped on the floor. Wasnt good for him to do that..So I finally thought I'd try again with Heidi..and she is doing great..and NO scraps given. I LOVE shelties!!! Lets see what we can do with these.

I made 3 masks - one for the back, one for the front and a shadow mask. I had a strange effect on the edges of the ribbon that I was not happy about, but took it into SBM anyway just to see what it would look like. I was kinda surprised when it actually made the ribbon look like it had a small frilly edge to it so I left it as is.

I will do a tutorial for this [in Paint Shop Pro] if you all want, just not sure where to put it right now. If anyone knows how to do masks in photoshop then maybe they can help all the PS users:) cos I know nuffin where PS is concerned

it was so easy to do I feel like a real dummy for having so much trouble with it..:confused:

It took me a while to work out what buttons/boxes do what so don't worry about it :) .... I felt totally lost when I 1st got here ...... now look at me. LOL ...... yeah I know, still lost, well not quite so lost.

I had this PIC of my dad. It was torn, my Grandmother wrote his name in pen at the top & it was so small you couldn't see his face.. To my amazement when I edited it & enlarged it was such a cute picture of him... I used elements & Paper contributed through this challenge. I love how it turned out. Thanks to everyone.... TLT

I have an external hard drive. I have half of it set as drive P for pictures and drive S for scrapbook stuff.... its very nice and handy as i can move it from computer to laptop with no problems

The frame (actually 4 corners made with brushes) and the other doilie are are part of the paper, I made it like a quick page.

OK here are my 8X8's. The colors of the kit made me dig through my son's baby pictures. My "Baby" boy turns 16 tomorrow! - is 6'1" tall and eats me out of house and home. Oh how I long for the days when I could hold him in my arms and he didn't talk back.


I used your templete and modified it. I couldn't remember who's it was so after I got it posted..... I started going through all the postings to find it. Just wanted to say thank you for the templete!!!!

I also used some of the shapes! I think the shapes have been such a fun added benefit. I finally started making folders for my shapes because I was getting so many of them. Some of the folders are entitled Rounds, Squares, Corners, Alpha's, Critters etc..... Amazing!!!

Also, after skimming through all these threads again, I am amazed at how many templetes, embellishments, papers and shapes came out of this CHALLENGE! I'm already anxious for next months, LOL

Here are some of the papers I used. I took the color swatch and cropped it to make photo images to isolate the colors.

Had psnemonia this week and am feeling so good today I had to finally PLAY with some of the GORGEOUS items you all have been making..It was hard to choose from so many.. I used a good deal of Sacannon's papers and blue screw, Steve's blue brad, Angelwithin's shape for zigzag stitch and gold corner, and Makesyesup's papers as well. Loved the play time. Used some newly made frilly flowery shapes..included in booster pack is 6 shapes and 3-4 new papers..I was learning the paint brush strokes of mixing colors together like in oil painting. FUN!! THANKS FOR ALL THE BEAUTIFUL ITEMS FROM EVERYONE!! WOWOW!!

It's an old picture taken in CANADA..Manitoba??? Not sure exactly where!! If I can remember I'll let you know!!! Loved the picture and kept it..from friends that traveled to Canada. I've only gotten to Niagra Falls..Have buddies that send me fantastic pictures from all over the globe.. but tell me very little about each picture..I even get some crazy photos from emails...Sorry can't answer that for you!!!

Compare to all your wonderful work, it's kind of pathetic, but I hope you like it anyhow. I tried to make the afghan as realistic as possible, and failed miserably. They are really hard to make. If anyone knows how to make a better one, please, could you point me in the right direction? :eek:

I want to tell you all again that the stuff you have all posted here is awesome. I even considered putting every thing in one of my websites under SBM resources, organized and all.... Then I realized that this stuff is so good, you would put me out of business! Honestly!

From one Granny to another, thanks for the afghan. It was just what I needed for my grandson's first year. I went with the same square format but it just wasn't working for me. When I put your afghan on a darker background, the texture of the fabric showed up. Please consider sharing the afgan shape or embellishment with us. It was great.

I thought I'd give a 6x4 template a go before the months was up.

Thanky to AutisticWonder for the flower power template, I used the papers as scraps to get the oval things. And I cant remember where I got the mask from to make the butterfly but I did find the Free plugin for lots of graphic programs that made it here (http://www.philipp-spoeth.de/photoshop/sinedots2.php). This page also has links to a few tutorials for the addon as apparently it is a little complicated.

I'll give my bookmarks a search to find out where I got the butterfly mask from.

Grannywin... That's super. I forgot to change the resolution of the images to 200 dpi, so I just did it and put every thing in a smb file.

I liked doing the 6x4 so much I made another :D We took some photos of Amy this morning in her dads baseball cap and later I found a photo of me taken when I was her age wearing ..... you guessed it a baseball type cap. I just had to put them in a LO.

For this one I used paper from Crops and Sacannon, the daisy from OnieRNs LO and the rippled ribbon from Angelwithins LO .. thanky everyone

I made some brads for this one using the new plugin I downloaded today [link in previous post]. Also thought you all might like some more duck embies :) .. love those little ducks.

Lisa S (if nobody hasnt figured that out yet) were just talking about that today, we always thought before these challenges, that showing a layout that someone else has done was odd, only cause it was theirs, and who would want to see my work on their templates. But after these challenges I see that it is sure an honor to use other peoples things and show them what you have done with it! Not only for the challenges now but for anyones work, for a quick page I am going to show it off, I may not remember who did it, but most have the names on now, so it will be pretty easy!
