August 1-14, 2010 Designer Challenge hosted by Esther Barry {Granny}

We have a treat for you this first part of August! The designer challenge is hosted by none other than our most awesome and wonderful Granny!!

(Remember, Fiona comes in on her own thread mid-month for the latter half of the monthly designer challenges!)

Howdy folks! I thought I still had months to put this together, and here we are. Ops!

Well, let's give it the old college try. I hear circles are the latest rave, and I thought... Why not play a game and have fun with circles at the same time. So, here is the challenge for this first half of the month.

1. Download the zip file below
2. Get yourself a partner and play a game of tic-tac-toe
3. Use the resulting game as a guide for your layout
4. Use the grid in the zip file and colored it or texture it using one of the seamless tiles included in the zip
5. Use the x and the circle, copy and paste them as needed, to duplicate the game you played, and color or textured them the same way you did your grid
6. The seamless tiles can be used as a tiled background or paper scraps
7. Use some of the other goodies included in the zip to ornament the layout. Some of them can also be textured or colored
8. Use the circles for frames for some of your pictures of people playing games or having fun
9. Use the empty squares, if you have any, for journaling
10. Post your finished layouts in the gallery with a link to this thread
11. Send me a medium cafe latte with a vanilla biscotte asap.

At the end of the challenge, all the participants will recieve an complete alpha set like the sample below. I would post a sample of the challenge here, except that, as you all know, I can't make templates worth a thing... So, please, this is part of your challenge, teaching me to do something with the goodies I'm giving you.

Have fun, follow the rules, and ask me any questions you may have. Won't answer them, but you can ask alll you want!!! LOL. :p

Thank you Granny. This is a really fun and different Challenge. I did this one squared off like a patchwork quilt effect. Who knows how I will do my next one.

Great layout, VE! Great use of the empty squares. Love it.

Just a reminder to every one. If you bring in the tiles as paper scraps, they will tile seamlessly, and they will not look fuzzy. Same with background, bring it in and tile it.

Here is my layout of my cat Mittens. She passed away 2 Thanksgivings ago at 17 and a half. We found her on a bridge while driving on night before she was probaby fully weaned, very tiny. We were afraid she would have gotten run over if we left her there.

Hi everyone. I love your layouts. You are all so creative. I will make more comments on them tomorrow, and then I will tell you about your gifts. I'm sorry, but I just got back from a three day convention, where we had to drive over 100 miles a day round trip, and I'm dead tired. Going to bed, and It's only 6:40 here. Hey, I'm back! You thought I had run for the border, didn't you? LOL. I'm really sorry for the delay, but my life has been really complicated lately. Just today I was finishing the alpha that you will get as your gift, and my mom calls me. Her pressure cooker exploded and there was food all over ther kitchen and dining room. At least she's ok. Never a dull moment. At any rate, thank you all again for participating in the challenge, and for sharing such wonderful layouts. I always feel that I'm the one that benefits the most, because you come up with great ways of doing things.

Now, for your gift. The file is almost 12 mgs., so I'm going to post it on 4share for you to download. If you participated in the challenge and posted your layout here or in the gallery, please send me a pm and I will give you a link to the file.

Ok, I have uploaded the file to 4share. Please unzip it to a folder of your choice.
The alpha is made up of 26 upper case letters, in individual png files, average size is 800x800, at 200dpi.
