Just as you thought it was safe on site I have come back to haunt you all  Yes you have the pleasure of my company for a whole month!!!

Pimp that Photo!

Let's focus on the photographs instead of the overall design of the layout this month, so often beautiful photographs and cherished memories get buried beneath a ton of pretty embellishments, so this month i'd like you to play with your photographs!

There are so many wonderful effects you can do with the advanced tools in Scrapbook Max! So Lets play with them.

Attached are some simple things you can do in the advanced tools.

Once you have finished playing with your photo then it is time to scrap it. ;)

Pimp that Photo!

1) Using the advanced tools adjust your photo to show its true beauty.
2) Scrap a page using the adjusted photo (please note rule 3)
3) You may only use 1 paper/background, up to 5 embellishments and 1 adjust photo per page.
4) your page must be uploaded to the gallery and either the link or image placed in this thread
5) All pages are to be uploaded by Wednesday 24th February
6) A Vote will take place from Thursday 25th until Saturday 27th
7) A 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize will be awarded to the pages voted with the most interesting photo effects that also abide by rule 3

OHHH I sooooooooooooooo love this challenge!! This is definitely one for me because I am probably the WORST at hiding my pictures behind embellishments!! I just get so darn 'scrap happy'!!
K, I hope I can figure it out! Thanks for the challenge.

02-01-2010, 08:52 AM
Sounds Like a great challenge

02-01-2010, 12:05 PM
I will throw something together for this. I haven't done a challenge for a while!

02-01-2010, 12:37 PM
i look forward to seeing your pages :)

02-01-2010, 07:54 PM
This is gonna be fun cause I have to admit I am one of those who like lotsa embies and before I know it my page is covered...Can't wait to get started! Thanks for a great challenge!!

02-01-2010, 08:43 PM
wooow, this is fun challenge, my son always says, why are the photos that small when you have a large page,.....
Love to be part of the challenge, but I'm going for 6 weeks to see our new GD and no SBM software, flying to night, hope I still manage to dl it on CD

02-01-2010, 08:43 PM
Here is mine. This is my mom when she was a teenager. I used two copies of the same photo. I used the watercolor effects on the top copy and then lowered the opacity a touch. The background paper and embies I made for a challenge I hosted last year, but I altered the paper and frame for this in SBM.

Thanks for a great challenge Fiona! Here is my page for the challenge. The photo was taken at a friend's wedding of the bride's bouquet with the bridesmaid's flowers. It is a beautiful photo.

I used the following:

Techniques - Oil Painting and Sepia. I used a second copy of the same photo and made it transparent to show just a hint of color.

Paper - by Amber Baz @ K-joi (Made slightly transparent)
Embies - Crocheted edges by Kim Liddiard @ Digital Scrapbook Place
Victorian rose embie behind paper is mine.
Words - from The Christening Kit by Knzus available through SBM.

Here's mine.
I turned the original photo to sepia, then used the crackle effect. Then I took the original photo, erased the sepia/crackled image, and layered it on top. Then changed the hue to black and white and adjusted to color to pick up the yellow tones.
Pretty cool. Thanks for the challenge.
Oh and hey! I only used two embellishments!! Now that is a feat in itself for me!! :) whoops, no, I used three. forgot about the frame.. but still!! ha ha :)

Great pges so far - I wil have go but looks like I'll have to restrain myself considerably as I like to put 1000 elements onto one page. LOL

Carena, I had to laugh at this because I think of you as the Queen of Cluster. LOL! But I'm game if you are..........just 5 elements???? Can we use 5 different elements 10 times each???? LOL!

And Kelly, what a cute idea to make the reflection like that. Very creative!

02-03-2010, 08:33 PM
My beautiful niece and her husband
Frame: CraftersCorner background mini kit from a challenge at CraftyScraps and my photo color grayscale and added Amy with the original photo.

beautiful talented pages everyone....they look stunning i love the effects you are all doing on the photos :)

02-04-2010, 01:47 AM
Well I thought it was about time I got myself scrappin again, so this is my effort for the Challenge. I embossed the photo then recoloured, then I copied original pic again and watercoloured it and made it 60 transparency and placed on top. Thanks for the Challenge Fiona. Credits in the gallery.

02-04-2010, 02:26 AM
Nice job...even though you "threw it together"! HAHA!!! It's gorgeous! ;) Makes me want to do something with my Mom's pic

02-04-2010, 07:15 AM
ScrappyAggie that is so cool! I didn't know we could do that! I must try.. :)

02-04-2010, 08:06 AM
I love this challenge. I used a photo of my wedding, as yesterday was my 33rd wedding anniversary!

http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/data/2809/FS-33rd-Anniversary.jpg (http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/design-team-challenges/p38281-lovehonour-and-cherish.html)

The photo was rather bright and busy, so taking the colour right down improved the look of it, then I put a little colour back in to add warmth, bring in some skin tones and recolour the roses.

Then in effects, I chose lens, settings: max radius 30, Y centre offset 50 to focus the eye onto the hands and my ring.

I didn't want to spoil the almost sepia effect I had chosen with a coloured background, so I kept it very light. The background I used was one from Michelle's lovely surprise kit, XOXO, but recoloured and some transparency brought in.

I only used three embies: the frame from Believe in Yourself, the sentiment from Inkster and a recoloured rose from Country Rose. If you are counting the two journal texts I added that still adds up to only 5. :)

Blessings - FS xx

02-04-2010, 10:32 PM

02-05-2010, 07:12 AM
Here is another attempt at Pimp my Photo

My sister and brother-in-law enjoying a beautiful sunset. Used SpinWaveEffect and then took the same photo and blurred and blend it in the water. Background is from SBM Pallete Sunset.

http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/data/2809/My_Special_Scrapbook_-_Pat_Helou_patgeorge.jpg (http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/design-team-challenges/p38295-sunset.html)

These pages are so neat..great job everyone!

02-05-2010, 12:31 PM
Loving this challenge Fiona! Here is a picture of Gracie, my new grandbaby.

http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/data/2809/Sleeping-Beauty1.jpg (http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/design-team-challenges/p38326-portrait-of-grace.html)

Here is what I did:

Imported the photo into Real Draw (as permitted) and used the Real Paint effect to turn it into an oil painting.

Background XOXO by Michelle, with the colour taken right down.

Just the one embie made by me!

Blessings - FS xx

Frame is from "Believe in yourself" kit that came with the original SBM version. The greenery and berries are from Carena's "In the forest" kit.

This picture was taken this morning. What a beautiful tree.

Background I solorized the photo, then I added another layer and embosed it, another layer was added and I crackled the layer and made it transparent so the colors can come through. I made a gold mask and added to the picture to make it look like the sun was coming through the tree.
Credit is to SylviaEsther for her JanuaryFrame.

Sue I see we had the same idea. Love the layout. :)

I love everyone's creative ideas on the effects of the pictures. Great Job everyone.
