Yeah! So excited we have goodies to give away for these challenges this month!

1 weekly winner for highest PRODUCTION points
(you donate templates, tips and tricks, embellishments, papers...points earned!) and those points carry over all month..

1 weekly winner for Random Drawing of PARTICIPANTS..
(Simply comment on a post and you are a participant!..Must put a comment in each week for each Random Drawing chance to win..DOES not CARRY OVER from week to week..so keep looking and commenting weekly for a chance in the drawings.)

No repeat winners..8 winners total for month long challenge!

Here's the STARTER KIT!! Large file..44 MB

http://www.4shared.com/file/136594470/b436dc04/Autumn_Parts_-_Oct09Challenge_DLT.html

Here's the first FREE 2.0 version template that has most of the kit in it!

http://www.4shared.com/file/136595930/603eed36/DLTOct09Challenge_Template_1.html

It's ALL ABOUT AUTUMN!! That is our THEME..so we...WE..can all donate autumn items (you must make it!!...not someone else's freebie) for us to use personally.

The Kit contains hay pieces for scarecrow, papers, buttons, staples..hat, yada, yada..you see in template

FOR the CHALLENGE..I encourage you to make a template using the new version for those that have it already..and for those that don't..NO problem..make 1.0 version of it..IF templates are over 5MB liimit..please provide a link to it for download as well as photo of it!!

I will be adding little bits and pieces throughout the challenge to add to the KIT! So you will be packed with autumn goodies!

WE do have a SWATCH to match your colors for donation!! Recommend you use that..but not restrictive!

NOW..for those that love to create tags, etc..to donate..tiles, etc.. these are the points to earn..

TEMPLATES 2.0/1.0 25 points each
Embellishments/papers/scraps 5 points each item
TIPS and TRICKS 15 points each post
(tips and tricks of new version as well as OLD)
no repeats from this thread..can gather prior knowledge
mentioned from other threads!! example to follow!
PLEASE post at top of your post..TIPS and TRICKS..to get
recognition easily!!

TO newbies:
To download picture items show..
Simply click on item to enlarge it
RIGHT click and choose SAVE AS...Save picture...
and send to your desired location on your computer..usually to a SBM file
or desktop file..

(notice header mentions TIPS and TRICKS and states which version I'm talking
about...PLEASE start yours with that..don't want to miss giving out points!)

TIP for flipping and shadowing...Version 2.0
If you want to flip an item that has shadow on it..the SHADOW will not flip
correctly with the item..sooooo
UNCHECK the item of it's shadow BEFORE flipping it..After flipping it..Add shadow.! To do that just click on the item and when box comes up..UNCHECK the shadow!

It is now possible to publish only one page of a Scrapbook album to an image. From the page you want to publish, go to the top menu bar of Scrapbook Max, Select Page, then "save as image". There are several file types you can publish to as well as choose the quality of your published image which will change your file size.

29418

If you choose "custom" for the size you need to change the zero for height and width to your desired size or it will not work. The size measurement is pixels. So 12x12 size page at 300 dpi would need to be 3600 by 3600.

Scrapbook Max users love shapes. Now we have twice as many shapes. They have added invert. Any shape you have, you can invert. Many times this will give you really cool shape for a page border etc. When you double mouse click the embellishment or paper it will open up the property window. There is a box you mark to invert your shape and it will give you a preview. Here is an example of an original shape and then the inverted shape.
29419

A favorite new feature but there are so many how do you choose a favorite.

Forgot to mention.

When you donate an item, make a template for show OR give away, or give a Tip/Trick..that also qualifies you for Random Drawing as participant..So it pays to donate something..gives you chance to win twice..whereas participants get only one chance in Random Drawing..make sense?

HUGS!!

You can do so much with shadows in v2. You can control everything about the shadow. You can change the angle of the shadow, position of the shadow, the color, etc.

1) Double click the item you want to shadow
2) on the first tab is a box to place a checkmark to add a shadow
3) if you want the new options for shadows click on settings.

29421

I post this tip because I always forget to remove the checkmark for "global" which makes all shadows on this page identical. I usually don't want this and have to backtrack. Hopefull this tip will save you some time.

I made a template but it is too big. I am not sure what to do with it now. I have never uploaded for SBM before. Do I use 4 share? Do I have to have an account?

Wendy, You can submit tips for v1 too.

The v2 trial will still allow you to export templates. For people who have purchased v2 when they import it will be normal template without the ribbon on the bottom and fully functional. So you can still participate.

Gee does this count as a tip.

yes..Kpierce..that was a GREAT tip you mentioned!! I'll be sure to note it!! LOL..

Yeah..Nanwu..go girl..templates 1.0 work in 2.0..just not the other way around..

Love to see your fun OCeania!!

Kpierce..yeah..4shared or similar accounts are needed to upload the larger templates..LOVE your template..The textured plaids put the MB way up there..sorry..but some of us love texture..It still counts the 25 points reguardless of uploading for sharing or not..but we would all love to get our 2.0 versions coming in.

ANOTHER option for you Kpierce..just email it to me..if less than 15 MB..and I'll put in our 4 shared account..They are large files..I worked hard to bring the size down..sorry!!

GREAT participation!! Wow!! keep em coming!!

Hey Donna, I was trying to help a newbie in my challenge thread to change color on something...I do hope I helped her...I just love knowing there are new people coming in...Love it!!!!! Anywho...I thought I would post it in here too..Now remember, I can't be held responsible if something goes wrong....lol....j/k..this might help someone...:p

To change colors of any item in MAX...

For v.1, you then look towards the top and find EFFECTS, click on it and then click on the advanced option, you will then get a new window with many choices...Find Hue and Saturation...Use the sliding bars to make changes, click APPLY and it will show the new change you made...Keep playing around with the hue, saturation, and lightness/darkness to get the color you want... Moving left in the saturation will give you a duller (if thats a word...lmbo) and sliding it to the right will make the color brighter...

For v.2 (which gives you a "real time" change...so so cool...lol)..This time when your item is highlighted, you just double click it, and a new window will appear...At the top left of the window, you will see an advanced tab, click that, and there you will see your hue, saturation, etc...Now when you slide the bars, you can see the changes right away as you are sliding....Very neat, and love this new addition!

A suggestion, Donna.....I at first thought you meant any comment on the layouts in the gallery but then I saw you meant any comments on this thread. But could you add another entry for comments to the gallery? Comments in the gallery have been going downhill, at least in my opinion. And if they could get another entry into the drawing, layout comments might pick up, too! Just a suggestion, of course.

Like you Michelle..LOVE this suggestion!! However..it is not something I can easily keep track of and therefore could cause some serious ill will if handled poorly..So I'm thinking we can do an entirely different challenge..weekly one ..will talk to Fiona about this..She is challenge guru!..and see if we can dedicate comments posting for a whole week on not just our challenges but ALL gallery entries!! I think it would be fun for me to do some scraplifting mask templates from some of my favorite gallery templates as well and then have you all stuff the masks with your favorite autumn themes as well..HUM!!!! So girl..AWESOME suggestion!!

So for the moment..the gallery comments for our challenge is not included and had not thought that that might come up!! REALLY appreciate you bringing it to my attention OB!! It is too hard to keep track of and for that reason..only posts to this thread will be considered participation. With other challenges in the future..we will keep this in mind! THANK YOU!! Very helpful suggestion!! and you have helped to avoid misunderstanding as well..Girl.. could just hug the stuffin out of ya!!!

Again..THanks OB for the comment!! Much appreciated!!

NOW YIPPEE in v2, I just discovered this one!

When you create a group of text or various elements you can resize them at the same time after you make the group. It is really cool and a time saver. :D

In v1 you could not resize items after you grouped them. You could select multiple items and resize them but not if you grouped the items.

Love this version 2 more and more. It runs so much better!

Tip about Templates and Word Art

If the font you are using is not able to be exported, save it as a word art. (Page, Save as Image - make background transparent)

Then you can use it as an embellishment. :)

Then your template can be exported with the unique fonts.

I made some tiles for scrap paper for a page I am working on. The page is not done yet because I am having a hard time finding my pictures but wanted to share. The scrap papers are made from the straw and pumpkin Donna provided. I think the straw paper looks kind of like lace, gee I sound like a redneck! Tiles, you got a love them they are so small in size.

I love cropping and everybody uses cropping. I especially love that now I can crop, change my mind, and re-crop, as many times as I want to change my mind without using undo or needing to find the original photo. This is definitely a time saver for me.

I uploaded a sm2t file which includes a qp I made. I thought maybe a qp would be small enough to upload but no way. The sm2t file has the qp, the individual frames <preview shown> and the shape. The background is the pumpkin paper I uploaded earlier as a tile except I used it as photo instead of tileing it.

I am just playing around in SBM2 to learn. So many new features.

Paper I used to make this page. Due to the small size limitations I uploaded the tiles. In SBM2 I started with tiles I made in Real Draw Pro and then I recolored in SBM2. It is amazing what the recoloring will do for you. The almost pink paper became the rich burgundy paper. Very rich looking papers. Almost unlimited paper and elements with this new function. The swirl paper is used as an image background for my large banner text.

The links for 2.0 and Life is Beautiful will be separate..But you will get both!!

We all love playing about with Word Art, and now we have two amazing ways to create and save Word Art within SBM 2, using Caption and Ribbon Text.

But they are both so versatile its like having a whole new tool box!

I'm dealing with Caption Text right now.

When you first go into this, type your text and choose font as usual. We all know now that we can also choose from solid colour, two colour blend or image. Make your choices at this stage, you can change them later if you want to.

If you decide to use a colour blend and the colour you want isn't on the palette, simply go to More Colours and move the mouse outside the dialogue box. You will find you have an eye dropper that you can use to 'pick-up' colour from your layout. When you click OK this colour will remain in your palette so that you can use it for another embie.

Now say OK and your Word Art is on the page. Drag out corners at this point to resize - remember if you want to constrain the aspect hold down Shift as you drag, if you want to distort your text then pull on any side or handle.

Now comes the fun part. Double click your word and go to Advanced, click on Bendable. Click OK. Now you have an extra set of handles and when you drag one of these you literally bend your text. But you don't need to stop there.

Right Click anywhere along the line and you will get a new re-shaping handle. You can put as many as you want along your line, to fine tune your curve. If you decide you don't want that many curves, you can Rigt Click on any handle to remove it.

If you like what you have so far you can save it as an Image to use later. To save an individual image, make sure there is nothing else on the page - I usually add a new page and copy my Word Art into that - I can delete it later.

Click on your image and then go to Page, Save as Image, Select PNG and check the Transparent Background box. Choose custom size and type into the Width and Height boxes exactly what you see in bottom right corner of your screen. My example said 1276 x 413.

Choose an output folder and give your Embie a suitable name so you can find it easily when you want to use it again.

But your word art is still on your page, you can still change it. You can give it a whole new look.

Double click your Word Art again and go back into Advanced. Pull your Smoothness slider along to the left, so that the value reads O.OO and say OK. Now instead of bendy text you have spiky text!

Go on and have a ball with Word Art. Here's two for your collection - I hope I've uploaded them correctly!

with v2 Scrapbook Max we can for the first time use kerning which controls the spacing between each character and each line if it is multi line text. It is very useful to save space and make certain text (like vertical text) look a lot better. From any text property window you go to the advanced tab to change the kerning. (see image below)

See below an example of the same text with kerning and without kerning.

LOL that is the best tip I know but I don't think it will count!:D

Version 2 runs so much better than version 1.
1) You can duplicate a page almost instantly, no waiting.
2) You can have much larger albums (more pages) and thesystem is not bogged down and out of memory all the time.
3) So many new features

OOOPS I wasn't ready to post. I was trying to correct something and it posted. The subject should say "Buy or WIN..."

Valerie Elaine..much improved ..here is picture of it!! Still curious..so you UNCHECKED remove pictures to make this happen? Did you bring in the items of scarecrow as embellishments or in through pictures? Embellishments should not have to do that task..Hum..I'll have to give that a try..you have me curious!!Thanks for fix!!

I'm using capital letter O of Thunderbird font as a picture frame.
Use the Text editor, chose the font, doesn't have to be thunderbird, can be any font you like. Fill style, chose image and the select your image. You can adjust which part of the image you chose by manoeuvring using the bendable option. Hope this is clear enough,....

Shortcut keys really can save you a lot of time and a lot of mouse clicks if you can remember them. Here are a few I find the most useful.

INS (Insert key) Easy way to insert a new page, press the insert key. You are instantly taken to add a new page.

PGUP takes you a page forward in your scrapbook album.

PGDN takes you a page down in your scrapbook album.

F1 brings up the help screen (In SBM v2 it is context sensitive.)

Right mouse clicking on top of a page or selected item has your object or page related menu choices instead of going to the menu bar.

CTRL+G will group all the items you have currently selected.
CTRL+SHIFT+G ungroups items

If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel, hold down the CTRL key while scrolling the mouse wheel and zoom in/out quick and easy.

If your hands are on the keyboard why move them. Once you start using shortcut keys (available in all programs) you will love them and want more.

Wow, What a great challenge and all the great tips too! I am having puter problems. I recieved a "serious" error message (it specified serious). I had to unplug the computer and pulll out my battery to get it to shut down. Then it went through a recovery thing. Afterwards it was ok. That was last night. I got it again this morning. This time it didn't go through the recovery thing. Soooooo, I will attempt to do something for the challenge. But if you don't see me back, you will know why! (hopefully that won't happen).

Did you know you don't have to use the buttons on the menu bar to add photos or embies to an album page. It is so much quicker and easier to find your photo or element by browsing your folders, desktop, etc, then you just select the item and "drag and drop" the item to your album page. This can take some practice to figure out how to do this (what works best for you) but it is worth the effort.

You can make your windows smaller so that you can see both windows and drag the item from one window to SBM page and drop it.

Or you could come from your desktop and have SBM minimized to your toolbar and when you drag your selected item down to the SBM window it will pop open/up and you drop it on the page.

It takes a little practice but I think it is so much faster.

KPierce
10-07-2009, 06:20 AM
There is a more advanced drag n drop. If you already have a finished page and you have a lot of layers etc and you want to put a new item in an exact location and in an exact size, this will save time. This one is more complicated to explain so I hope this helps. Ask questions if you don't understand.

Love the wordart Kpierce!! Nannaberrie..weee ooo!! nice papers!! Close of this week is hours away..can't wait to tally all the numbers and do the drawing..
Participants count one time and one vote only per person..UNLESS..someone emails to give up their vote to give to another person ALREADY on the list..

so if you already have Max 2.0..you have two options..

If you win..you can choose an expansion pack instead...I'm assuming..since that has been told to us in another thread from Max folks..

or..sub your name for another participant to give that person an extra chance to win the Drawing. ..That is the ONLY way to give participants an extra vote. But you have to be on the participant list already to get the extra vote. That has happened already. One person..emailed and asked to do this...I agreed..

HUGS everyone!! AWESOME, AWESOME participation!!

Thank you Donna and SBM for offering so many wonderful freebies this month. I am so happy to be the winner but I gotta say...(don't hate me LOL) I went after it :D AND you can too.;)

It is a wonderful prize and all you gotta do is submit tips and templates and embies and rack up those points. You can do it. Submit, submit submit and make Donna get out her calculator. I have won now so you don't have to worry about me :p though I will still try to post. I tried really hard the first week because I knew the rest of the month would be difficult for me to participate as much. I am going to be out of town next week and extremely busy at work the rest of the month so I knew my best hope was the 1st week. With a point system you too can be in control of your win  So get out there scrappers and rack up them points and we all win!!!!!

One tip that I am ADDICTED to in SB is moving layers. If you have an item on top and you need to move it behind something, hold down the control key and use your down arrow. It also works for moving up layers. I use this command so much that I find myself trying to use the same command in other programs and it doesn't work!! GRR!

Love all of these layouts and tips so far!

Well I was able to do something for the challenge, here it is:

http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/data/500/Oct-09-Challenge-000-Page-11.jpg (http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/35963)

Another Font tip/trick. (I Used Version 2)

Tip 1. I manipulated the text as described in other previous tips. And I also added a pattern to the font with an outline. But what I did different was I added a second pattern over top.

After the text was in place on the layout, I copied and pasted a duplicate layer. Then I double clicked on it to go back to change the pattern. Once I selected the new pattern, I lowered the opacity so that the layer underneath would show through a litte bit. Then clicked ok. You need to move the second layer a little to align it with the layer underneath.

Tip 2. I also used this method on the darker flower, but just added a color instead of a pattern. Then lowered the opacity. It is a different way of changing the color of the item. (Does this count for a second tip?)

PUMPKIN

Tip 3. The pumpkin was made entirely in Version 2. It may not be the best pumpkin, be it shows what you can do with the software.

I just used two different colors of paper. Used a circle shape on each.
Adjusted the circle to an oval shape. Then layered alternating colors making each one slightly smaller than the previous one.

Then using a darker paper I shrunk it down to make a stem. I used another paper of the same color, but adjusted the color slightly darker. Used the cirle shape again. Stretched it to an oval shape again. Then made it smaller and placed it under the stem of the pumpkin. I also added a slight shadow under a couple of the layers of the pumpkin.

Defineately not a perfect pumpkin, but you can tell what it is!

Making embies;
Many of free Fonts, like 'Dafont' has beautiful embies. download the one you like, extract then Copy and Paste to your Fonts Folder of your computer. You can open the Font Folder, by clicking Start > Control Panel > Fonts.
Now you can used that in Srapbookmax and with v2, we can make beautiful embies, by using the Text features. Publish it as .png

At the moment I only give a preview in .jpg, because the .png is too big and I cann't upload it here.
I will give the link to download it later !

Here's a couple more tips for you to try! Did you know you can use your any of your embies for shapes? Check it out!

Tip 1: Using Embies to make shapes

Open your paper scrap folder CTRL + 3
Choose your scrap, I used my own Autumn Leaves
Now go to Custom Shape, Select, Browse
Now go to the Embie folder and choose an Embellishment you like, I used my own Faerie desig (remember it must be a transparent .png file if you're using other artwork)
Now say ok and you have a lovely new shape. If you don't like it with the scrap you chose you can click on it and change it endlessly, as with any other shape!

Tip 2: Using Embies to make frames

Open your paper scrap folder again CTRL + 3
Choose your paper scrap
Now go to Custom Shape, Select, Browse as before
Go to the Embie folder and choose an Embellishment with a nice clear outline, I chose my own Fiery Star
Now click Invert Shape, OK
Now using your embellishment has created a perfect frame, which you can lay over a photo to create a frame.

Don't forget with both of these tricks, you can save them as individual embellishments, by going to Page and Save as Image - you'll find details earlier in this thread I think.

I have included the Faery and the Frame, plus the paper scrap that I created for the tip. I hope they are not too small to use, I had some trouble getting them small enough to post and I had no idea how to get the perfect 512 kb allowed!

Blessings - FS xx

It's been brought to my attention we need to clear up some confusion for our newbies as to what we can use to make a template for sharing on this challenge...I forget sometimes..sorry..

ON Max..the general rule for SHARING any of your templates is that you don't put off site items for personal use ( basically ALL freebies are considered PERSONAL use unless otherwise stated for general use, commercial use) in your templates. That means you can take Max items in program and on site to mix and match and give as TEMPLATES. But you can't give individual items in Max like papers and embellishments as freebies on site.

So the idea in these CHALLENGES is to use all the items folks are giving from day to day and use them in your templates for sharing. So that would include all items you wish to use from Max and Max site..Again ..All templates you share are considered personal use for your Max program. That does not mean you can go share your templates (displays totally OK) with other sites unless they have the SBM program to use it. You can make QUICK Pages but not take them outside the site unless you make all the items yourself.

So when I say you must make your own items for sharing I am referring to individual pieces..embellishments and papers you share. If you recolor a max paper to share for a TEMPLATE you are sharing..that is OK!! but you can not give out Max program items out individually. Even if you recolor it..That item then is subject for others to take and then is no longer exclusive to the Max program. Many folks belong to Max but don't own the program..They are here for the freebies..

So REMEMBER the GOLDEN rule of giving..ALWAYS assume freebies are for personal use. Keep MAX items in the family..Not for outsiders to have.

Folks have generously donated and CREATED their own items for this Challenge so you can make all the templates you wish with them for sharing. AWESOME stuff too!! Mine included. But if I were to see all my items taken to another site for freebies and commercial use..I'd have a FIT!! That is not what these items are for.

Hope that helps clarify what is meant by making the items yourself!

EXCELLENT work ALL of you!! Keep em coming!!

Just to let you know..

Max says once you win a version in ANY of the Challenges you will not be eligible to win for two months. sorry...They want to give as many folks as possible a chance to win..So if you won in another challenge..you won't be able to win in this challenge. BUt ..you sure will be able to sub your name with someone else if you desire. Give someone two chances to win instead of one. Good only if that person is already a participant in this challenge.

Also..you can SUBSTITUTE the 2.0 version with your choice of Expansion
Or, if you already have Scrapbook MAX! 2.0, you can win your choice of one Scrapbook MAX! 2.0 Expansion pack: either "Bundle of Joy" or "Back To School" by electronic download!

Disclaimer: No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited or taxed. Prizes must be accepted as awarded (no cash value). Electronic download delivery only. The decision of the moderator is final.

Please don't let this discourage anyone!!
Very excited so many folks will have a chance to win..

Max's Karin is working up Gallery Challenge Sections and it will be available to us soon..So we can start allowing Posts to Challenges posted in that gallery to count as participation!! O2B will be happy about that!!

Great stuff going on!! Max is working hard to get the 2.0 glitches fixed..Designers are testing now..too excited!!

HUGS!!

Tips and Tricks - v1 & v2

I love the way you can take a not so good picture (or a very bad one) and make something unique. One of my favourite things to use- Effects>Avanced.
By using the different effects, you can create beatiful images. In the snapshot below you can see what I mean.

TheFreeSpirit

You know when you have a photo you want to scrap that has some stuff in it that is less than attractive?

We all know you can crop it, or perhaps hide it with a frame. But what if doing that takes away the mood of the photo or its relevance to the theme?

Here's a fun solution.

Place your photo on the page as it is.
Open paperscraps (CTRL + 3)
Choose a piece of paper that goes with your scheme or theme, click OK
Now lay it on top of your photo and make it exactly the same size.
Double click your scrap
Pull the transparency slider to the right until you achieve a gauze look, I stopped at 50
Click on custom shape and select a frame you like, I used Photoshape 0012
Click on invert to turn it into a frame
If you want to tweak the colour, go to Advanced, Adjust colour and play with the sliders until you get the right hue
Click OK

This is a nice way to keep something in the photo that dates it. For example, you may have a photo from the sixties, showing a car of that era. So you want to keep the car in but still want the focus to be on the person in the photograph.

Enjoy! FS xx

Hi, this is a tip to make fonts stand out nicely on your page

Create your text using caption or ribbon
Select your colours to match your background, using the dropper
Now select Shadow, Settings and accept the default settings
Select a colour in the same range but much lighter (for example with browns I'd use cream)
Now say OK

Your text will literally pop out of the page at you, but so much more subtle than using an outline!

You need to click on the thumbnail to fully open the image fully on screen, then Right Click and select Save Image As. Then you can save the image where you want to on your drive.

Tip: Making Greeting Cards with SBM

I make all my cards from SBM. This is what I do:

Open a blank scrapbook and call it Greeting Card or something else appropriate.

Make your page the size of the card you will print on before it is folded. The finished card will be printed on printer cardstock, and folded once down the centre. I make mine 8.27 inches wide, 5.75 inches deep.

Now select a paper scrap as your background.

Drag it out so that it fills exactly half of the page – use the ruler as a guide.

Place the resized paper scrap to the right half of your page (see thumbnail).

Now embellish just as you would a scrapbook layout.

Insert a second page.

From your first page, copy the paper scrap and paste it onto page 2, in the same position.

Double click the scrap you have just pasted on page 2 and select a custom shape.

Invert the shape so that it becomes a frame.

Add whatever text you wish to use inside and on the front page.

Embellish as desired

To print the card, you will need to print it one page at a time UNLESS you have an edge to edge duplex printer.

I suggest you practise to make sure that you get the direction of the page right to print the inside – I’ve had a few mishaps with this. But once you work out how your printer prints you will be fine.

The thumbnails will show you my example.

Blessings – FS xx

To answer your question..YES..all the embellishments, paper scraps, background papers are for BOTH versions..THe only difference is in the TEMPLATES..Version 2.0 can include the 1.0 version templates..BUT..the 1.0 CAN NOT accept the version 2.0..

Ever wanted to highlight certain words in your text to bring them to attention? Here's a fun way to do it.

Open Journal Text box, type your text and format it to the size and font, choose a lightish colour and click OK
Now copy and paste the copy of the text on the page.
Double click the copy.
Choose a suitable colour for highlighting your text.
Delete everything execpt the word or phrase you wish to bring to attention.
Change the colour of the word or phrase that you have kept.
Click OK.
Drag the handles of your new copy and pull them in so that the text box just shows the new text copy.
Now zoom your page up so that you can see exactly what you're doing.
Place the new text directly on top of the old text and voila! Highlighted text!

See the thumbnail to see exactly what I'm getting at - its very effective and quite addictive!

Thanks, FreeSpirit, for the highlighted text hint! This is something I've wanted to do since I started with SBM in 2006! What a clever hint - I used to make it so hard by leaving space, etc. Thanks!!!

I've read through this thread twice now and don't remember half of the tips that have already been done so I hope this isn't duplicated. :o

While the new max 2.0 has some great new tools for adjusting color, let's not forget this simple way to change the overall tint of a photo/background, etc.

Take a paper scrap (such as the different color construction papers included) and bring it into the layout.

Resize the scrap to the same size as the photo/background etc.

Then, either move it on top of the photo and decrease the transparency of the scrap

or

move it behind the photo and decrease the transparency of photo!

Combined with changing the color of the scrap with the new adjust color options, the possibilities are endless for getting the tint just right.

This example shows how I changed the tint of the original photo using this method (with a blue scrap) and then using it as the background for the layout.

The 20% is HTML code and represents the space character, not the size of the graphic. Which browser are you using?

I am using Internet Explorer 8. The 20% is in the name when it is saved.. I don't know why I have this problem.. It is only with embellishments & papers from SBM family forums..

Ok. I'm going to PM you so we can move it out of this thread and see if we can't figure out what's going on. I've got IE8 on a couple machines here and we'll see if I can try and duplicate the problem. :D

Did you know that you can now Zoom in and out in the crop window to help making your crop selection?

If you have a scroll wheel on your mouse just scroll to zoom the photo in and out while in the crop window. If you hold down the CTRL Key and scroll, the crop selection changes size!

How cool is that?

A triple frame layout. all mine so go for it. am doing these all in SBM1, so those who don't have 2 can use them, but I have got to say the new version is fab-u-lous, so versatile, I loved 1 but SBM2 has caught my heart. You are such smart cookies.... enjoy, will do some more later. Have also attached some png files, a white triple frame with daisies, 3 jewelled butterflies embies.
