View Full Version : Butterfly - Copyright
I purchased the attached 'trinket': photographed it : then worked on it in MS Picture It.
Am I able to upload it for general use. It looks so good in my project.
Don't want to get into trouble...................

I personally don't see any problem with sharing it... It's a original image, like taking a picture of the Tower of London... :) Now, if was a logo of something, like a Royal Seal of the Queen, it could be a problem.
I'm sure someone else will chime in here...

I think you're right. You couldn't photograph something that's licensed (like say Disney characters) and then distribute them. But something like this would be OK, as long as it's not an artist's piece. In this case the artist name would be on it somewhere.
That's my opinion! I think the butterfly is beautiful and it would coordinate well with many of the SBM themes......

Sa far as I understand it, Your Butterfly Pict/Element is Yours to use as you wish. As you purchased the trinkett, took the pict which is yours, then created the Element....you own the rights to your element...I was taught about Public Domain, where things like Masterpieces, Landmarks etc etc, you own the rights to any picts you take...Now as far as the Queen if her things are on public display, you can take picts, you just can't reproduce the items...LOL...But you can make elements from your own picts...
Have fun creating....Hope this helps :)

Mary, thank you, it's really beautiful. And thank you for being considerate about the copyright. I agree with all of the above.
If you zip up the image, then you can upload it as is, because zip files can be larger than pngs. Or make it into a smb by using the embies maker. Hope this helps.
Thanks again for a beautiful image.
