THEME: Enduring LOVE Challenge CONTEST!
It’s a Scrapbook Layout CHALLENGE CONTEST!!Winner will receive $25.00 gift certificate to the ScrapbookMax Store!

This is how it works!!
February 1-14th SUBMIT Entries to autisticwonder@yahoo.com (Limit of 3 entries per person) I will give each entry a number and post it to the Challenge thread with points earned from me.

February 15th - 22nd You JUDGE the ANONYMOUS entries with the handy dandy forms I will leave for you on the 15th..You can post your voting tickets in Challenge thread or send to me..ONE VOTE sheet per person allowed..You as judges will have to give POINTS for each entry based on the Criteria given on voting sheet. And YES..you will have to give yourself a score as well if you have an entry or ENTRIES..

February 23rd – 28th REVELATION time..All votes will be tallied, all ENTRANTS unveiled , and on the 28th..WINNER announced!! Runners up and honorable mentions will also be mentioned.

ENTRY RULES: VERY IMPORTANT…your POINTS from me count on following these rules!!REMEMBER: This is a CHALLENGE..so you must follow them or you will get your entry kicked back to you..

1)You must produce a Scrapbook Max Layout USING ONLY DONATED items from the SBM FORUM..or Scrapbook Max.com STORE CREDITs must be included with your EMAIL to me with A .jpg image you produce using your File>Publish to > Images..setting HIGHEST…SMALL..

Send your ENTRY in jpg form to autisticwonder@yahoo.com with SBM in subject line so I don’t miss it!! Otherwise: 640 pixel size at 300 dpi for clearest images for judging.
LIMIT 3 entries per person.

IN your email to me..ALSO include your SBM FORUM NAME!! DEADLINE is FEBRUARY 14th, 2009..11:59 pm EST for ENTRIES. A return email from me will give you your POINTS earned from ME for the following:

Anyway - good luck to everyone and don't let the competition side of things scare you away - this all seems like alot of fun - in my opinion there are no loosers - all entries are winners from the experience and fun of it all. :)

Ok I read it again and am still confused. I get the general idea but if we add pictures won't people be able to tell who's it is? Unless we use pictures that would never give it away. Or does that mean send the page to you and remove the photos? I am rally scratching my head on this challenge, sorry, maybe I am having a scatter-brained day.

To do this you will have to remove the pictures.

My suggestion is to use pictures from the internet in your layout and then no one will know who they belong to (giving credit to get the points also)- or use for eg. gardens, flowers, scenery pictures - no people pictures.
Hope this helps and hopefully I to have got it right.

It's been a YEAR since our LAST contest..so many are out of practice..

Since this is a CHALLENGE thread..This is a CHALLENGE CONTEST for your LAYOUTS..

The CHALLENGE part is using ONLY freebie items you find on MAX site or buy from store..( store bought items can't be shared...) if you want the extra brownie points for SHARING your template..then be mindful of that please!! IF you are SHARING YOUR TEMPLATE..Then those are considered MAX freebie items..JUST DON't POST those items on the SBM site to give yourself away until AFTER the VOTING..LOOP HOLE!! LOL..Don't have to CREDIT yourself if you MADE the items either!!


Pickngrin..I can see you are slowly figuring it out..so I'm not worried..You'll get there..Keep talking to yourself!! LOL

Carena..YES..of course you can enter..ALL designers are encouraged..As you and Pickngrin are figuring out..you will have to work around NOT using stuff folks will recognize..mainly PICTURES..Many may already be thinking of using your freebies..Sooo..You can use whatever pictures you can find on the net and work those in..To be honest..the two of you have similar styles..so folks will still be CHALLENGED to figure out WHO's styles are whose..

YES..ANY FREEBIES including yours given in the forum are up for the CHALLENGE..

For those that have LAWYERS way of thinking can figure out..That the contest ENCOURAGES you to follow the rules for SHARING, Journaling, etc.. for extra points.. I will only SHUN your entries for failing to stay ANONYMOUS or POSTING your ENTRY on the THREAD..BIG NO NO!! That kinda of stuff..

So please name your templates appropriately Feb09 ChallengeCONTEST(your name, your ENTRY #) First effort entry, 2nd or 3rd..unless I can fix them by renaming for you..I can also do your JPG image if you submit your .smt for sharing..up to you..

You have TWO weeks to produce your layouts. Judging is another part of the CHALLENGE..

EYE..don't be scared!! If you don't think you have the skills for this..THINK AGAIN..Scraplifting is ALLOWED!! Go find a TEMPLATE out there on the WEB that KNOCKS your socks off and find items on MAx to help you put the layout together using that layout idea!!

SOOOO many ways to find stuff on max without much digging..Just pick a favorite donor for starters and go SEARCH in advanced for their POSTS..LOTS will pop up..Look for ATTACHMENTS.

You have been GIVEN TUTORIALS, CHALLENGES, learned oodles and boodles of things from all of us..So..NOW..have some fun putting all that learning to the TEST!! Do this CHALLENGE!! It's NOT as hard as you are making it out to be!! LOL..

Many of you KNOW I have a hard time singling any WINNER out..Like Carena said..EVERYONE is a WINNER!! I love a good mystery..don't you?? We've never done them ANONYMOUSLY before..You THINK you know someone's style..Haha..RIGHT!!!

Oh this is going to be a humdinger of a challenge.
I think most need to forget about the competition word and think of it much like any other challenge. Follow the rules - just like any other challenge - and have fun, fun and fun.
Besides you guys can do such awesome layouts - that's the very reason you get so many views on all your pages in the gallery - they inspire so many of our silent scrapping members whom don't often comment but I know that they watch with keen interest and look adoringly at your layouts. Go on - give it a go.
And for all those whom watch - come and join us - we'd love the extra company in the gallery.

If you want to do all your OWN work for your layout..you can IF it is SHAREABLE..That will qualify for freebies!! But you can't make the items , post them for freebies and THEN make up your templates..hold off til AFTER Voting on that..Of course you don't have to CREDIT yourself..but it's a WOW thing to say you made all your own items!! Brownie points for that!!

I'd FIRST START with finding a PICTURE you would like to work around and build from it!! If it has lots of yellow..SEARCH yellow and see what comes up!! OR colorize some grayscale item freebies..yada..to your liking!!

This ENTRANT was RIGHT on in all her efforts!! But with thousands of folks submitting entries to the scrapbooking magazines..This one very small detail could have serious consequences...IN her EXCELLENT credits..a RED flag goes up..She got something off google that does not identify the owner..So, for liability reasons..a publisher most likely would not even consider this entry and all the time and effort it would take going back and forth with emails to continue on for consideration!! It is going to be VERY difficult for anyone to get even a 90 for score from me on these..90 is perfection..100 means you should go for publishing your efforts.. You are in the upper crust of scrappers..less than 1% group.. The REAL voters are you all!! Not me!! My scores are to get attention to little details that could send a WONDERFUL layout into cyber space with these SCrapbook Magazine Professionals.. Scoring in the 80's means you know the drill..how to do the mechanics for getting published!! I'm THRILLED with this layout and all before it!! WE can do GORGEOUS with our own goodies on MAX!!

Full credit to you my dear for having the courage to put up such a competition and it looks to me like you're doing a wonderful job of it.

In case anyone is wondering - it's not easy to judge such an event. I know when I've left comment re; citique on a layout - afterwards I often wonder if I should have kept my big mouth shut. But comments made have always been in kind and not ill feeling or maliciously.


So please I hope everyone will get behind her on this and support her efforts. Like I say - it's not an easy job. This is something we will all get to see for yourselves when it comes time for us to start judging. Won't that be fun - but with lots of entry I'm sure it will be more difficult than we ever thought. LOL. :)

Folks..this one put me over the edge of finely done layout to more of the original, risk taking, well done layout!! This caught my fancy with journaling and TYING it all together!!
WORKED hard to find some flaws..So my only suggestion would be to limit the strings to power of 3. Found them to be just a tad too many and distracted from original intent! AND..why use another forum's eyelet..I Know we have plenty here!!LOL..LOVED your work with the SBM program to put all this together!! BRAVO!!

This template gave me a fright at first but as I read the journaling and saw all the wonders this scrapper did to put this together I was AWED and AMAZED with it!! The fright turned to real touching love story!! beyond the GRAVE!!

For the template I took out the picture and added a paper saying "click to add photo".
I also took the picture out that was faded in the background because someone wouldn't
want that in their layout.

I used a paper from Five Feathers for the background and for the description under the
photo.

I Lowered the opacity of my picture and put it over the background paper.

I used an overlay from Crops and faded the opacity plus tinted it.

I used a heart shape that I made on the photo (attached) and on 2 layers beneath.
The bottom layer I darkened to use as a shadow rather than using the built in shadow.

I used the Crackle effect in SBM on the layer under the picture.

The picture which I tinted, (it is used all over the web and was in news papers all over) a

Credits:
Background paper and brad are from SBM - Believe in Yourself. The background was chosen
originally because it has a clock in the background. As the page developed the heart
hides the clock but it was decided to leave the paper in place for the shadow appearance.

Heart has two layers of construction paper from SBM--a blue layer with a white layer
behind it slightly offset for depth. Both papers have partial transparency.

There are two background borders stacked, slightly offset for added dimension using a
shape from Donna Thomas Flourishing Trails Embie Pack. The paper used is SBM blue cloth
and white construction paper.

The lace heart is a freebie from Donna Thomas.

The photographs are shaped using a standard Scrapbook Max photoshape 0020.

The words for the song "Through the Years" by Kenny Rogers came from the WWW. Font used
is Amaze. Each stanza is an individual paragraph rotated as needed to curve around the
heart using left alignment for the text and then adding spaces as needed to the beginning
of some lines for the ability to curve a single line around the heart more completely.

Artistic Font is used for the borders and around the heart. The letters around the heart
are individual.

Great template building information given for this template!! It Knocked my Socks off with these extraordinary pictures! WOW!! and the song is especially touching in it's proportions around the heart!! VERY WELL DONE!!

Credits:

The Romantic Love Victorian themed kit by Fourfoxes formed the basis of this layout. The pearl bracelet, the flower cluster, and the papers came from this kit. The black quilted background from the kit was used as a tile to increase the resolution. The flower cluster's coloration was changed using the effects in SBM to match the purple-pink tones of the envelope.

Very excited by the efforts put in so far and the potential for judges is WONDERFUL!!

Hoping this will assist Max and Contest hopefuls to really work at their layouts and understand the whole process to do their best!! NO part of this CONTEST is EASY!! Judging is just as hard!!

But also want to KUDOS and give BIG thanks for all of the FANTASTIC entries that added their links and made my job so much easier!! Due to health issues I didn't add much as I had hoped to do throughout the first two weeks! BUT WOW on all those finds!!

Well we did have fun, but I have decided that skiing is NOT for me! I love the snow and my son had fun learning but this was it for me. I went years ago and said then that I wouldn't go back but alas, I got talked into going again. I have an old ankle injury that ski boots just do not agree with and it is now swollen and hurting. Plus skiing is way too costly!! But hey, the bright side, I got some great pics that I am uploading now and will be scrapping very soon!

This is my first challenge of this type. WOW....so much fun and I learned so much. I loved the hints from Donna regarding how judges look at contest submissions, etc. All of the pages submitted are beautiful, wonderful and winners. I would agree with Crops that I did not like to do the judging. That is really hard and in the word of the Wii "not my forte" <LOL>. I posted my page in the gallery with the "rest of the story" details.

WOW, I am so excited to have won.:D I have never won anything like this. Big thanks to everyone for participating and for voting.

This page is my favorite page of the hundreds of pages I have scrapped <so far> but some of that could be the emotions wrapped up in this page. Scrapping does not come easy to me at all but I do enjoy it, I love trying new things, and I had so much fun with this challenge. My job is working with computers all the time <too much time:eek:> and I explained to someone at work that scrapping was a necessary evil for me to put some fun back in computers.

I think this challenge and the submitted pages prove how wonderful and versatile the ScrapbookMax program is and you don't have to spend a lot of money on fancy extras to make a WOW page. All of the pages submitted were WOW. Thanks again to everyone...see you around the forum.

PS: This page prints very readable even as a 4x4 CD case insert. That is another tribute to the quality of the SBM program.

Thank you everyone for the congratulations and compliments. I am way up there right now with excitement and joy. IT IS SO MUCH FUN. I learned all I know about scrapping right here. This is where I purchased the trial, read the posts, asked questions, made friends, etc. I was not a paper scrapper so I was a blank page and all of you guys/ladies here helped to make me a winner. Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge and your freebies.

I shared the page with Sharon and Jerry of course and told them "they won" and shared many of the kind words regarding what all of you have said about "their love" and Sharon smiled sweetly and looked at Jerry <sigh, no camera> but the love goes on and on.
