Hi ladies!!! I'm so excited to host a challenge, I've never done it before so be kind.

We're going to do a recipe challenge. Our ingredients: 1 black and white picture, 2 papers, 7 elements and a title. Instructions: throw it all in a layout and bake up a layout! Here's an example I made of my lovely niece Dasha using a new kit I'm working on.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_L6FhvL6zoYk/SMRKfbM9huI/AAAAAAAABNw/_oIIRhixOrU/s400/090608family4+copy.jpg

I've also got a contest for you. It's a good old fashioned "Name my Kit" one. I simply can't figure out what to call this and it's not quite completed because I need some kind of inspiration from the title. So post your suggestions and the winner will win the kit free!

Same here-it was my Great Grandma whom I love dearly that always wore purple, the papers and colors reminded me of her!

Here's my try. I counted the wordart as 1 element. I made it from a poem I found in my grandmother's diary. This church was attended by my ancestors and by myself before the family reunions. My dad is buried in the cemetery here as well as many other ancestors as will I be when I pass on.

Here is another one I did because I am getting over a little case of strep throat and still feel kinda yucky and have nothing else to do. Everyone in my house is staying away from me, so boredom for me turns into scrapbooking. And I know the whole picture isn't black and white but it was, I colorized it. Does that still count?

This is for the weekly challenge (40).
This is my mother-in-law when she was young.

The background paper is from Carena's "Alex add on"
The Ribbon and Brads are from Autistic Wonder
I used a paper behind the Photo and used a shape on it from Fiona's Foto Fun Shapes
The swirls were mine made from a brush (from ?) from a long time ago. \
The curlie ribbons were from KimB

Here is my challenge entry. My grandmother is the little girl in the photo, and she kept a written history of the family. Why this baby was left out of the family history, I don't know. Unfortunately, no one from that generation was alive when I finally discovered the missing child. The writing on the back of the photo was the clue I needed.

I've wondered that too. My guess is, you copy and paste the link, then type over it with the word "Here". Am I close????

Close. What you do is type your post. Then you highlight the word(s) that you want to be a link and click on the "Insert Link" icon. It looks like a globe with a chain link over it. (http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z143/huntslodge/insertlinkicon.jpg) In the pop-up window that comes up, enter the url of where the link is to, including the "http://...".

For example, if I wanted to link the words "ScrapbookMAX!" to www.scrapbookmax.com, I would highlight "ScrapbookMAX!", click the lnsert Link icon, and type "http://www.scrapbookmax.com" in the window.

I know, clear as mud, right?

WOWZER!!! I've been away since Friday and am checking the site out here at our son's and what a surprise!! I think I'll go away more often, because one other time I went away and came home and found out I won a challenge!!!

Thank you so much Crystal, our daughter's favorite color was always purple, so I think that must have inspired my name for your kit. She kind of got away from that color for awhile, but sure as anything, when she got married, we all know what color she chose for her wedding, Lavendar and Yellows. So Lavendar Romance was named for our daughter.

Thank you again, and l loved all the layouts ladies.

Looking forward to the next challenge!!

Oh Melanie it was and I'm so sorry, they had so busy from the time we got there till we left. I thought of you Sunday evening late and thought I have my chance to finally meet one of our family members and we just ran out of time. We ran all over Baltimore on Saturday and then had church most all day Sunday. It was their Fellowship Dinner Sunday, so after morning worship and the dinner, then there was an afternoon service and by the time we got back to Doug's we all passed out on the couches. Their church doesn't have a full time preacher at the moment and this was Doug's Sunday to preach. That was worth the whole weekend! He had both services. Then we left early Monday to head home. I promise the next time, I'll let you know before I leave and we'll make plans, if you are still talking to me by then!! :o

Well, I was home most of the weekend but Sun night had to take 2 of my grandchildren home an hour away so was gone. I know how hard it is to get everything done in a weekend. I'm the same way when I go to see my mother. So I totally understand! But maybe next time we can schedule some "us" time!
