View Full Version : My poor computer died

I haven't forgotten you all. My hard drive lay down, put its legs in the air, coughed and died yesterday. After tearing my hair out over it for a couple of hours and visiting the computer tech, he informed me that he would not be back until Monday.
Monday, good grief, my fingers would have been chewed to the bones with withdrawal by then, so I phoned my son in law and had him search the net for me for another hdd. I bought another one this morning, fitted it this afternoon, and have almost got my system back to normal again. Just got my programmes to load and copy my work back from backups.
I shall give the old hdd back to the computer tech and see if he can do anything with it. If not it should still be under guarantee, so he can replace it and I will drop it into my daughter's computer.
Back to the grind.
You sound like a bit of a techno wizz to me...!!! LOL

Sorry Vanessa...Computers can be a major drag sometimes...I swear they need more maintenance then the kids...lol....
and Marion, hmmmmm...before computers, I had more of a social life, I read more, I cleaned more, I walked the dog more....geez, the more I think about it...er...um....I can just use technology as an excuse for things I don't want to do anymore...LOL....:D

Well Vanessa you took care of that problem in short order..so glad you had everything saved..
Marion before computers I could see a lot better, I got out of the house more, watched a lot of tv, croched and cross stiched and read a LOT, I cooked better meals, and I talked to my family and friends more..and spent more time with the kids..now I don't enjoy TV as much, my hands and eyes are too messed up to crochet and cross stitch..I still read some.the kids aren't here now..and so Im addicted to the computer LOL but Im so thankful for it, because I have met so many wonderful friends.

You still have a sense of humor! I think I was losing mine when my computer was acting up. So far it is still running. Crossing my fingers. Hope they can fix the HD so you can use it in your daughters.

Jazz, know what you mean. I know my eyesight seems to go haywire when I am on the computer. Probably because I am on too long! LOL I defineately don't get out as much either except to take my mom to appointments and grocery store. I am going to have to work on that some. Seems like we have an elastic band attached to us that keeps pulling us back to the computer. LOL

Well if they can sort the old hard drive out, then I won't have lost out too badly. I had to buy another one, but I ended up with double the disk space (500Gb), so I can't complain there. If it is knacked, like I think it is, then it should be replaced under warranty, so I should get a new one. As for sense of humour, honey you have to have one or you would cry, because computers are like babies - they can't talk back, so it doesn't matter how many times you yell at it, you will only end up banging your head against a brick wall.
Thanks for all your concern ladies, and as soon as I find my inspiration again, I will be back posting. Feeling a bit out of sorts at the moment - kinda flat and uninspired. So whoever nicked/borrowed, misappropriated my mojo, please give it back to me - I need it. Without it all I am fit for is playing computer games.
