Hosted by little old me!

Hey Y'all! Hope everyone has been having a great summer!

This month's challenge is an oldie but a goodie!

Here's the directions:

goto this website:

http://www.pencillines.com/

and pick a sketch.

In your post, show us the sketch from the pencil lines blog that you chose and then your layout that you created!

All participants will receive a free mini kit from me AT THE END OF THE MONTH!

Also... if you are able... turn your project into share-able template if you know how (simply change your papers to ones included in the sbm software) and share here as a "quick click" template!

Ok here is mine. I figure I better get it done while I have a minute to myself.:D I used a kit by Monti.
I hope I got it correct.
Here is the layout, the gray scale template and the pencilmap I choose.
Hope you like!

Yes Marion, James is a little 'sweetie'. Great LO.

Did you just copy your page & 'greyscale' it & save as a Template...???
I know.............. I'm a NUMPTY...

I am not even sure if I did it right Mary, I just saved the map as a jpg and drug it onto my page and then I made it opaque so I could see through it. Then I just added each piece and placed it. Then removed the jpg. When I was done I grayscaled each piece individually and exported it to a template.

as far as making a template to share....

what i did was used the included "cardstock" in the sbm software to replace the background and paperscraps in the template.

i used a shape over a paper for the flower element.

the eribbon is mine so i can share it.

y'all please be sure that when you share, you're only "sharing" elements that either came w/ sbm or elements that you have permission to share!

here's what my template looks like:
(see attachment)

Here's mine & a thumbnail of the 'PencilLine'

I haven't uploaded the template as after creating it, it didn't work for me. When I 'double-clicked' the flower to change the pattern, it just became a square... am I making sense!!!

I've also attached the WordArt I made for this layout ~~ if anyone wants it...??? ;)

They have the sketches available in PDF files on their website too. There are 4 per page. It is much easier to look at the sketches and decide which one to use this way <my opinion>. I printed mine but even for viewing 4 at a time is easier than 1. Now to sit with a glass of cool tea and make a decision. This will also be helpful for those who like to choose several:)

I scraplifted #38. I did not upload a template because the items I used are not mine or from SBM. I used Donna's Square Template Shapes and her Patriotic Kit.

I guess I did this right; wasn't real sure. I made everything including handpainted flowers. This was from PencilLines #26 by Becky Fleck.

I had a great, wonderful, beautiful, labor intensive page ready to post and went to save it and "out of memory". I lost everything. Usually I do save often because I have been bitten before but....I wasn't thinking. Now I am so sorry! UGH....Scrapbookmax needs an auto save option or auto recover or something.:(

MommaBird

My first one followed the sketch more closely, but the pictures more or less commanded these changes. Still from 26.

I know the feeling. I don't know how many times I have thought, I'll just do one more thing and then save, and "Boom" -- fatal error or some other such nonsense. And the more you have done, the more likely it is to happen. Sorry bout that, but I think we can all relate to that one!

I used Sketch 52 and for the template, if I did it right, I replaced all with items from SBM, Fiona's ColourMeUp and Donna's Wonder of Shapes. Is that what we were supposed to do? I hope I did it right?!? The last line reads to smell the roses!

Sorry, my template reads 89 but it is actually 52,:(

www.tygofotte.tr and I made the Word Art "Fun" in SBM. Thanks to all!

great job so far everyone!

Again - If you'd like to share your templates with us, here's a super easy way to do so.

1. After you've completed your layout and published the image so that you can share it, go to "file - save as" and save the current project as something like "yourname_sketch challenge 08"

2. Now, with the new project open, double click on all the elements (papers, backgrounds, etc) and replace them with "card stock" or "construction paper" that came within the SBM software.

3. Replace the elements with something shaped similarly or take it off all together if you can't find something that's OK to share.

Export as a template and viola! Share with the group!

Here is mine, I hope I did it right, I did the whole layout in SBM because there were so many photos, it didn't need much embellishing. I tried to share the template but when I did, it was 28 MB. I may reduce my photos and try again if anyone wants it (just let me know)
Thanks!

Great pages everyone! I am using the 1 year anniversary Pencil Line for a mock birth announcement since my granddaughter is due in a couple weeks. It was designed to be a double page layout, so it fit perfect for an 8 x 4 card.

I converted sketch 66 and sketch 38 <I hope> so they can be usable templates from my finished pages. On my finished page, I clicked on each piece and changed it to a black, gray or white paper/scrap. If it is an embellishment that is not from SBM change the embellishment I used something similar from SBM. The photos are easy--all you need to do is mark during the export process "do not include photos" and it will leave the photo area blank stating "add photo here"

Hi Julie and everyone. Just popped in to take a look around to see what everyone is up to. So glad I did - Love using templates for layouts in this manner. It's so quick and easy and still with awesome results.

Just had to quickly do a layout - this one took just a few minutes. Thank you Julie.

Did I misunderstand. I thought part of this challenge was to create the grayscale template for others to be able to use...why is no one doing that part of the challenge. Come on everyone share your work so all of us benefit.

What I did was create the grayscale template first of the pencil line sketch I liked using black, gray, white papers, etc. Then I duplicated the page and started making my version of the layout with added extra embies etc. This went pretty fast instead of making my page and then having to go backwards to black/gray/white papers, etc.

:p Thanks twpclerk. Whatever works...I just don't want to re-invent the wheel if I don't have to, if you know what I mean. I see some lovely layouts here I might use if I had the templates. If I have to find the time to create them all it probably is not going to happen. I guess I am being lazy but I'd rather blame Julie cause she put it in the challenge first.:p
