This weeks challenge will have you searching your files and through the freebie forums :D it's a scavanger hunt of sorts

I drove through rain rain rain for three hours the other day to come home to this lovely Rainbow!

The Rainbow Story

Once upon a time, all the colors in the world started to quarrel;
each claimed that she was the best, the most important,
the most useful, the favorite...

Once upon a time, all the colours in the world started to quarrel; each claimed that she was the best, the most important, the most useful, the favourite...

Green said: “Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, trees, leaves — without me all the animals would die. Look out over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority.”

Blue interrupted: “You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is water that is the basis of life and this is drawn up by the clouds from the blue sea. The sky gives space and peace and serenity. Without my peace you would all be nothing but busybodies.”

Yellow chuckled: “You are all so serious. I bring laughter, gaiety and warmth into the world. The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are yellow. Every time you look at a sunflower the whole world starts to smile. Without me there would be no fun.”

Orange started next to blow her own trumpet: “I am the colour of health and strength. I may be scarce, but I am precious for I serve the inner needs of human life. I carry all the most important vitamins. Think of carrots and pumpkins, oranges, mangoes and pawpaws. I don’t hang around all the time, but when I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset, my beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any of you.”

Red could stand it no longer. He shouted out: “I’m the ruler of you all, blood, life’s blood. I am the colour of danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight of a cause. I bring fire in the blood. without me the earth would be empty as the moon. I am the colour of passion and love; the red rose, poinsettia and poppy.”

Purple rose up to his full height. He was very tall and he spoke with great pomp: “I am the colour of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs and bishops have always chosen me for I am a sign of authority and wisdom. People do not question me — they listen and obey.”

Indigo spoke much more quietly than all the others, but just as determinedly: “Think of me, you all become superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep waters. You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner peace.”

* * *

And so the colours went on boasting, each convinced that they were the best. Their quarrelling became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling flash of brilliant white lightning; thunder rolled and boomed. Rain started to pour down relentlessly. The colours all crouched down in fear, drawing close to one another for comfort.

Then Rain spoke:

“You foolish colours, fighting among yourselves,
each trying to dominate the rest. Do you not know that God
made you all? Each for a special purpose, unique and different.
He loves you all. He wants you all. Join hands with one another
and come with me. He will stretch you across the sky in a great
bow of color, as a reminder that he loves you all, that you can
live together in peace.

07-21-2008, 09:20 PM
Day 1- Frame, Flower, Ribbon, Bow, Journal--This challenge will keep us "hoppin" all week. It gave me a chance to use MaryAnn's (MA3) Some Bunny kit that she offered in the forum. I loved the colors and saved it for the right occasion. I put the link to her kit in the gallery. The pink flower was in the MAX elements.

07-21-2008, 09:52 PM

This sounds like fun. I will try and get to this.

07-22-2008, 09:35 PM
Here is my Day 2 entry. I loved this photo of a soldier with an Iraq child. It shows the love that coexists with war. I really do salute their bravery. I had to go outside of Max to get the sparklers but everything else is from the forum. Donna Thomas's fancy shapes are found in the store. Something blue has to be the glitter edge and the star is from MAX.

07-22-2008, 11:40 PM
For day 1, I've pilfered elements and such from the SBM Baby and Wedding editions, and some freebies from the forum here. Credits are in the gallery:

For day 2, I've brought back a template I created for the shapes challenge not too long ago. I shared the shapes in the embies section then. The sparkly blue frame is a freebie from Gizmo.

My sister and I worked at a pretty exclusive eyewear shop some years ago. For the 4th of July holiday, she transformed the glasses she's wearing in the photo with stickers that she got from our father's return address labels. She did such a slick job with it that nobody knew it was done with stickers, and she had several people want to order those same frames for themselves.

07-23-2008, 12:51 AM
here is my day2 contribution...credits are in the gallery

great layouts everyone. Sorry, not joining in this week as I am heavy duty concentrating on finishing my GS's album. He just came back from his years travels in Europe and India and I'm behind on doing the scrapbook. It was so wonderful to see him this past weekend.

Just going to post some layouts made before for awhile.

Here's my attempt at day 3 with a photo of my step-daughter and her family:

Credits are in the gallery.

07-23-2008, 02:34 PM
sweet LO Lori. ;) wonderfully done.

07-23-2008, 03:10 PM
This is a combination of the three days, clues. I was too lazy to do three separate ones. I have used a combination of your Cranberry Rose and Leaf Fall kits. The only additions are the star with it's chain and one of my gems.

07-23-2008, 06:51 PM
This is my entry for day 3. I think Vanessa and I are on the same wave length. I also used AngelWithin's Cranberry Rose kit for the stamp and decorative border. The staples and one tag came from Grannyscraps. The flower (leaves) and the lace came from MommaBird. The second tag was a SBM embie.

Fiona, do we still have to stay with embellishments that we get only on the forum or the store? That really does make this a challenge. That search feature is getting used hard this week.

07-23-2008, 11:21 PM
Day 2 credits in the gallery, I've got to get to bed, but I think I'm almost caught up!!

07-23-2008, 11:24 PM

What a great challenge...and the lo's are so cool! Here is my day 1 lo. We took a cruise to Alaska in 2005...this is formal nite. The main kit is DGO's Black Camel with elements from Butterfly Kisses. http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/data/2478/Alaska-Formal-night-2-000-Page-1.jpg

07-25-2008, 08:07 PM
After Day 4, Fiona, you have my permission to wear the devil horns. That was really a challenge! Guess I violated the rules a little, but I had to go outside SBM to get some of the stuff. Here are the credits:

I created the star shape for the five papers and the stitching. The vintage pin came from Angle. I used Grannyscraps's staples. The cardboard frame was from Obidina at Digiscrapdepot. The Alphas were from Cherity at Digiscrapdepot. The papers were mostly from Butterfly Love (monti-pixelsplayground) and Blue Beaches (freedigitalscrapbook).

07-25-2008, 08:07 PM

I used a back ground paper from Wolvsie, Shells from Carena, The nautical frame is from Rosana. I couldn't find the foot prints so I made some from my baby footprints. I added an edge shape from Fiona's Foto Fun kit.
The pic is from our Mini Vacation.

07-26-2008, 09:01 AM
Hooray! I got to Day 5. Can I now get some housework done?
Fiona, you exceeded yourself on this one. I hope next week is our vacation week.
It looks like this was a popular choice. There are so many beautiful, nautical layouts.

The sand and water are from Makeyesup. I also used Autistic Wonders blending shape to join the two waters. Using Poppabear's wood frame made me realize I miss his freebies. The footprints are from the baby section of SBM. Seashells from Moonbeam. Nautical stuff from Nanaw. Fishes and rod from MH51. Crab from OnieRN.

07-26-2008, 09:28 AM
Terrific layouts all, this week surely went by fast and everyone was so busy working on these.

Grannywin, don't you dare do housework. Don't your remember the scrapbooker's code of action.

07-27-2008, 08:27 AM
