This weeks challenge should get the brain cells in a dizzy http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e102/srangelwithin/smilies/2.gif

And then there were none!

this weeks challenge is to scrap a page(s) that contain NO photographs - you can use embellishments, journalling etc to portrait what your page is about

I know many people use scrapping to make hybrid items and those WILL be allowed this week ie Cards, keyrings, gift boxes, recipe cards, letters etc

photo's that have been made into embellishments WILL be allowed ie flowers, brads with images inside etc

BUT NO actual photographs on the page will be allowed

Rules:

1) Scrap a page (or several) which contain NO photographs

2) all pages to be placed in the gallery and also in this Thread

3) Challenge ends Sunday 20th July

have fun http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e102/srangelwithin/smilies/2.gif

Lovely as usual. I really like that black and silver frame. Is that one you can share?

Lovely as usual. I really like that black and silver frame. Is that one you can share?Of course I can KP. These frames are actually incredibly easy to make if you have a programme like PSP. This one is made using French Script font, and I set my foreground colour to a gold pattern and my background colour to whatever infill colour I wish. I set the font size to as large as I can get it 400 or thereabouts and the outline width to about 6 px and then simply type "{ and }". Copy and rotate and line up the second set of brackets, merge layers and there you have it. If you use different font types you will achieve a different look to the brackets.

This is something off the beaten path for me!! Decided to have some fun with it. Maybe got a bit carried away, lol. These are all from a collection called Backyard Playground. I took my list of designers from secondhandangel.wordpress.com.

Oh, Mommabird, what a beautiful layout and what touching words. I'm crying here! No, not because of the beautiful words.... Because I can't read a word of them, they are too small! But I'm sure I would cry even more if I could read them!

Thank you so much for your loving kindness!

Here are the words to the poem on my last posting, dedicated to my friends on this forum!

Screen Friends

My husband has finally gone to work
My children have finished their play
they've gone to bed their stories read
Now it's my time of day.

I've had one of those days
you know what I mean
so I sit back and relax
and turn on my screen.

I'll talk to all my friends
who know just what to say
to make my stresses go
and my troubles fade away.

My friends you're always there for me
whenever I feel blue
and though we've never met before
I know our friendships true.

And although we haven't been friends for long
in this short time it seems
we shared so many things already
our hopes, our fears, our dreams.

We come from different walks of life
but we share a common bond
and it's time to say that of all of you
I've grown so very fond.

So thank you friends for being there
whenever I've needed you
I know you're always there for me
and you know I'm there for you.

What a fun challenge! Very good twist!

I just joined facebook and there are these flair boards with these bottons so I had to adapt them so I could use them here and I made my photo into one as well. Brings back memories of a denim jacket that I used to have that was covered in buttons and pins. :)

Tymom, your layout is beautiful, you did a great job.

Thank you! I am so uncreative it is pathetic. I struggle with L/O constantly. That's why I love it here. I get so many ideas for all the ideas in my head that I don't know how to express (does that make sense??).

Everyone has a bit of creativity inside of them honey. The secret is finding a way to let it out. Now if you have all those ideas buzzing around in your head then if you get a piece of paper and try to rough out on paper what you want to do, perhaps it might help. Make a little storyboard that you can scribble on change at will etc. Sometimes you can get too bogged down in the how do I do this scenario, and lose sight of what you are trying to do. Then when you don't get it right or get too far, you become downhearted and disappointed. From what I have seen of your layouts, you certainly do alright in the creativity department, so don't worry yourself about it, just let the thoughts flow and go with the flow.

MommaBird--I LOVE that saying on your layout.

OK--I finished my layout for the week. Can I go to bed now? Can't believe how time flies when you get committed to a project or should we say "committed" after a project.

I should have a basic template posted in the template section in a few days for everyone to enjoy. These candy bars make great gifts. I am having a hard time not eating the sample I made. Any occasion can be adapted to using this template. All you need it a glue stick, a stack of color paper, a scissors, and CANDY BARS.

In Memory of My Aunt Margaret 7-8-08 This story was read at the service.

In Memory of Jazzy's grandson- Jazzy I am sorry for your loss.

The Dragonfly Story

Once, in a little pond, in the muddy water under the lily pads, there lived a little water beetle in a community of water beetles. They lived a simple and comfortable life in the pond with few disturbances and interruptions.

Once in a while, sadness would come to the community when one of their fellow beetles would climb the stem of a lily pad and would never be seen again. They knew when this happened; their friend was dead, gone forever.

Then, one day, one little water beetle felt an irresistible urge to climb up that stem. However, he was determined that he would not leave forever. He would come back and tell his friends what he had found at the top.

When he reached the top and climbed out of the water onto the surface of the lily pad, he was so tired, and the sun felt so warm, that he decided he must take a nap. As he slept, his body changed and when he woke up, he had turned into a beautiful blue-tailed dragonfly with broad wings and a slender body designed for flying.

So, fly he did! And, as he soared he saw the beauty of a whole new world and a far superior way of life to what he had never known existed.

Then he remembered his beetle friends and how they were thinking by now he was dead. He wanted to go back to tell them, and explain to them that he was now more alive than he had ever been before. His life had been fulfilled rather than ended.

But, his new body would not go down into the water. He could not get back to tell his friends the good news. Then he understood that their time would come, when they, too, would know what he now knew. So, he raised his wings and flew off into his joyous new life, free as the wind!

The crochet dragonfly in this i made the night she passed away before I heard the news the next day. Now the little god's creature the dragonfly will have very special meaning for me. God Bless.
