Ok - Ok you lot .. just be patient -I'm still in Holiday mode.LOL
Sorry I'm late but as they say better late than never... although after this challenge you may disagree with that LOL
anyway here we go then!!!
Seeing my mind is focused on Holidays still - that's what the challenge centres on.
I have made up a small kit using a PHOTO as a BACKGROUNDthe challenge is to take that and run with it to make a page of YOUR holiday
You can use the photo in it if it suits or better still:
USE ONE OF YOUR HOLIDAY PHOTO'S AS A BACKGROUND PAPER.
IF YOU HAVE PHOTOSHOP OR ANOTHER PROGRAME MAKE A FRAME TO MATCH
but even if not make me a page about your holiday
Lets see what you can do with your PHOTO's using them as embellishments or Backgrounds etc.
Enjoy and have fun
see picture for an example of the challenge
I have also posted quite a few pages in the gallery of my holiday using photos as backgrounds... Lets see yours
and for those of you who don't have any vacation pictures - use any photo
the challenge is mainly to use A PHOTO AS THE BASIS FOR THE PAGE and add to it
Click here to download the mini KIT (http://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/89c48k)

Every has put up lovely work - so good it cant be that much of a "challenge" hey!! you have all taken to it like a duck to water.
I think using a photo back ground is a fantastic way to scrap your holidays simply because "scenery" photos are boring to everyone else and they never do the real thing justice do they! But to use them as backgrounds for your other holiday snaps with people in them just turns something boring into a masterpiece and great scrapbook memories
So keep 'em comin'

This was a layout I did shortly after I started digi scrapping. It fits this challenge so I thought I'd post it here. I originally posted this to SBM's gallery in Jan 07'. Notebook was courtesy of angelwithin.

Hi! I have downloaded the mini-kit and it went to SBM, but now I don't see it in the SBM. Can anyone tell me where it goes? I looked in the embellishments, and paper scraps, but I didn't see anything!
Thanks for your help!

~Laura:)Laura, run a search on your computer's C drive using the name of the mini kit and you should soon see where it is hiding.

When you download these, and they install, click on the details button and it will tell you exactly where everything went. Sometimes pieces are set to go into different folders under SBM. If I remember correctly, this one went into backgrounds section of the gallery images in the program.
It took me awhile to figure out the easiest way to find them as I originally did searches and then I tried the method of sorting each section of the program images by last modified date. And finally I got smart enough to click on the details button. It really is the fastest.

Jenna, our granddaughter, was the center of attention at our house this past Christmas.
The picture in the background is of the Christmas tree at my mother's house, somplete with a paper chain that is probably 25 years old. My sister and I made it wayyyy back when, and our mother still puts it on her tree every year.

Oh my gosh these are all beautiful and we get to travel through the layouts!
Here is mine. I used the bird in the kit. There were 3 beaches at this resort (The Buccaneer). The Sunset was taken at Grotto Beach, Inset is Cutless Cove Beach and the beach not pictured is Whistle beach.

Thank you for your help! I found the kit, and I learned something new :) I did not know there were backgrounds where they are! LOL! Anyway, now I have another question, how do you use one of the kit backgrounds AND a photo as a background? I don't know why I am having such a hard time with this, my mind must be in summer slow mode!! LOL! I love everyone's layouts. Vacation pics are so much fun! THanks for your help!

I am enjoying all these vacations from everyone. There are so many beautiful places featured, my mini-trip on the Delaware River in Philadelphia seems trival in comparison but I guarentee we had just as much fun.
I did find a good use for the quacker we received. It gets the attention of a wanderlust toddler. Now I can still quack, but only in the privacy of my own home! Can you believe people frown on quacking in public?

Here's another one from me. I don't have any pictures from any actual vacations that I've been on, so I'm having to rely on family events for pictures.
This is my cousin, Rick and his new bride, Kate, on their wedding day. The background is a photo they took of a rare flower that only blooms once a year, and it was blooming the day they got married. The ribbons around the pictures came from SBM's Black 7 White Wedding embellisments, and the flowers in the corners are smaller versions of the background flower.

Everyone's pages are out of this world awesome, it's taken me on travels I wouldn't and couldn't do **Thank you for that** Love them all. I haven't been on a holiday for over 20 + years so my layout is based on the little outings we do get to do as it's very difficult to get my little girls out. This one was a day at a place called Kelly Tarltons it's an underwater sea world and they have everything from penguins, sharks, stingrays, amazing fish tanks filled with every colour fish you can dream of, eels, turtles and much more it's a great place to go but very expensive actually over the top for prices lol I took every photo as seen in my layout and the background is of one of the HUGE fish tanks filled with brightly coloured fish.

Hi I just registered here...... I am unsure about how to add a page I created. I am using the trial version and have purchased (I think) the full version...not sure if my payment went through or not, it is very confusing.
Anyhow I have some questions:
How do I upload or insert a graphic here?
How do you all make the letter clear in the layouts like twpclerk did and/or use the background picture within the letters. Is this something that can be done within the program and how so?
ok, I sort of got an image attached, please bear with me on this. I am still upset over my order for the full version not going through or getting hung up. This has the banner across the bottom showing it is the trial version!! Ok, I just got the link to d/l the full version!! yippee!!!
Moonbeam, I love what you have done with your layouts and that is one of the reason I decided to d/l Scrapbookmax!

Welcome ReenaG and you're going to love this site, everyone is so helpful.
I can't take credit for the clear letters like "vacation" in my layouts, go to the 1st page of this thread and download Moonbeam's kit for this challenge, that's where I got it. She's really great isn't she? I love her work too!

Autisticwonder explains how to make your own Word Art, (These SHAPES of the BASIC FONT are helpful in making skewable WORD ART within the SBM program using your matching papers from Paper Scraps button. We can do colored letters but nothing with texture or patterns. Now we have a little edge on that. If you don't have a way of making these kind of letters in another program. You can Make YOUR own LETTER SHAPES or WORD by using a BLANK white background page. SET background color to BLACK. Type a FONT in WHITE letters onto center of 8x8 to 4x4 size. Make word or letters large to fit page area with few inches for border sides. THEN..PUBLISH >IMAGES> MED size. SEND to SHAPES folder. Then erase or delete your page and start making your scrappage. When you are READY to use your WORD SHAPE. Simply select your paper scrap and CUSTOM SHAPE. Choose your jpg image in your SHAPES folder and WHALA!! You have that word ready to use. Pull, stretch, tug, etc. WORD ART in SBM. Have a GO at it and if you have any problems let me know!! Enjoy!!!) I cropped my background picture and then used that process to make my saying and that's how I did my Word Art.

There are a couple of ways to reproduce glass/see through letters in PSP.
Down below I have attached two files created in PSP 9.
M&D1 - was done by creating your writing on a separate layer, then, selecting, floating and defloating the text and deleting it to leave the floating outline of the words. Then I added a cutout to the letters with a very pale whitish accent colour and a 3D cushion type bevel to the letters. This could perhaps be made to look better than this example and reflection accents could be added too.
M&D2 - was done by creating the writing on a separate layer, then selecting, floating and defloating the text and deleting it to leave the floating outline of the words. Then an external filter (Eye Candy Impact - glass) was applied with a drop shadow effect which is why this one is greyish in appearance.

thanks TWPCLERK and Vanessa...... I am familiar with PSP just didn't want to go there and make the saying, words (too lazy) but also wanted to know if it was possible to make it within the program!!!
Thanks to both of you for your explaination on how to create them :)
